mid week observations and random thoughts

Boutte and Doubs do the same job and Doubs got paid. Guess who goes?

NE cant trade or cut Doubs. They gave him a 15 million signing bonus. He is due 3 million guaranteed in 2026 and has guaranteed money in 2027.

KW will be given another season.

Pop will too.
Boutte and Doubs do not do the same job other than being WRs of which we put 3 on the field most of the time

yes, Ponder does that well, or at least he did last season
but with out Landry, he will also need to tackle well, set the edge, and perhaps drop back into coverage
we don't know if he can do all that yet

or maybe you do, because apparently you know everything
Did Landry do those well??? Asking for a friend.

tell your friend the QB rating against when Landry was in coverage was 72% last season
your friend may also be interested that Landry was credited with1 missed tackled

Ponders QB rating against was 116
he was credited with 0 missed tackles

Boutte and Doubs are the same. They're possession WRs.

I definitely don’t want Hollins as the 3rd most targeted WR. He wasn’t brought in for that. Could’ve been worse, but I wouldn’t be too thrilled if this is the final depth chart. Unless Boutte demands it, it doesn’t make sense to move him unless they get back at least a 3rd round pick.

I guarantee this board would be divided on when and who that actually was.
Hollins saw 68% of the 2025 offensive snaps and 3rd most passing targets.

Diggs - 102 targets
Henry - 87 targets
Hollins - 65 targets

Thanks will do.

This is what I mean. posters are going to name a guy and say “but”. There’s no clear cut answer.

HT was playing out of position because Mayo crapped out within 5 years. HT made plays in crucial moments, but he wasn’t regarded among the elite ILB’s. I would have preferred to keep him at outside linebacker where he excelled at rushing the passer like he did in his early years. He reminded me of Chris Slade.

Collins was elite in 2015, but that was it.

Mayo was just a stat collector who was awful in space despite his measurables. He was a very reactive player.

Bruschi was a “lunchpail” guy.

Ted Johnson was my favorite in the 90’s. He’s by far the Pats most violent hitter. However, injuries took over and it was surprising BB got anything out of him in the early 2000’s.
Ted Johnson was one of my favorites. Loved watching him hit.

Liked Ted Johnson also, but Vrabel likes to utilize LB’ers about 30 pounds lighter. I don’t expect we’ll see another big thumper like Ted again.

Yes Teddy Johnson was a big thumper, just ask his wife.
