PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 12

Both players were/are in year 4 of their rookie contracts.
Both players want/wanted more money.

Boutte isnt holding out because that would only diminsh his value in a trade.
Branch did not have that issue.
Every player wants more money.

Boutte either doesn’t have trade value or the patriots have no interest in trading him, or both.

These players are not at all comparable, and you know that.

Become a distraction to force his way out of town.
He hasn’t done that.
Doing that would do him no good.

You think that the best thing for his career is to publicly become a malcontent so that other teams will think less of him so that he can be traded to any random team 99% likely to have a worse QB that he won’t have a bond with so he can sit on the bench there, or produce less there than he will here and that will be good for his career?

I know you don’t understand how jobs work but that would be stupid.

Ignoramus

Boutte is playing nice because the Pats have promised to trade him.

You have stated this multiple times.
So when will he become a distraction?
When he is not traded.
Don’t you think that would have already happened 2 weeks into camp?
No, because a training camp highlight reel gets Boutte out faster. Being a good soldier does as well.

Refusing to practice only prolongs his wanting out because teams will just wait until he is cut and pay no draft compensation.
You can keep saying he will become a distraction, and I will keep pointing out he has done nothing but show up when mandatory and work his ass off.
A guy who isn’t willing to work doesn’t lay out for catches multiple times in practice.
His new team will like those videos and up the money.

Youre just to ignorant to understand.
Yeah you say the guy who isn’t holding out and is doing everything he needs to his going to suddenly his behavior when there is no incentive to, and I’m ignorant. Stop drinking.

There is an entire world going on inside your mind isn’t there. Sadly you cant tell the difference between that and reality.

1) if he is going to become a distraction why hasn’t he
2) if he is going to hold out why hasn’t he
3) if the patriots are going to trade him why haven’t they?
4) if they promised to trade him why is he running with the 1s? Do they not care about getting ready for the season?

When he is not traded.
Now you’re making my argument for me.
So according to you he will become a distraction when he is not traded.
Has he been traded yet?
Has he become a distraction?
No.
He’s had all off-season and 2 weeks of camp to become a distraction. He’s still here, so again, according to you he will be a distraction when not traded, so technically he should’ve been a distraction all the way back to the draft.
You’re making assumptions that have in no way taken shape to date.

Teams would rather have guy who was over 30 years old, never has played on a team for more than 2 years, going on his 6th team in 8 years than two young WR’s they just drafted in the 2nd and 4th rounds one year ago. That is beyond stupid.
Tell me you didn't actually WATCH the games last year without telling me you didn't watch the games last year.

But clearly, you're more knowledgeable than Vrable and his staff. They ought to fire him and bring in you.

If you were just talking generically you would have a point, but specifics matter, and the truth is that both Polk and Baker were busts, to the point where Polk is already out of the NFL, and Baker can't make an active roster. Hollins, on the other hand demonstrated beyond a doubt that he can contribute in a variety of ways, and was a great presence in a young locker room in need of veteran leadership. Getting rid of Polk and Baker was the right move, and brining in Hollins was a good move, so unless I'm missing something you are wrong.

1) if he is going to become a distraction why hasn’t he
The season hasn't started yet.
2) if he is going to hold out why hasn’t he
He sat out voluntary workouts.
3) if the patriots are going to trade him why haven’t they?
They haven't been asked to to trim to 53 players yet, there's no pressure to.
4) if they promised to trade him why is he running with the 1s? Do they not care about getting ready for the season?
He's still behind Brown, Doubs and Douglas in the slot... but yeah, he's running with the ones.

He sat out voluntary workouts.
Well there you have it.
He sat out VOLUNTARY workouts, a practice many other NFL players exercise.
They are voluntary under the collective bargaining agreement, and he has every right to not attend.
Is this really the best you got?

The most generic Gen Z thing to say. And the 2025 regular season has nothing to do with my initial statement.
But clearly, you're more knowledgeable than Vrable and his staff. They ought to fire him and bring in you.
The HC's name is "Verbel".

Jokes aside, this rebuttal also doesn't make any sense given what my initial statement was referring to. This board seems to have a serious reading comprehension issue.

What you are missing is that I specially said that Hollins made the team because Polk (2nd round) and Baker (4th round) do not belong in the NFL. Going into training camp, they already had 6 WR's on the team: Diggs, Boutte, Douglas, 2nd year Polk, Baker and newly drafted (3rd round pick) Williams. Diggs was a highly successful NFL veteran, so the Pats were already set in that area. Saying that Hollins didn't have an uphill battle being a 30+ year old journeyman making the team is absolutely absurd. The Pats would've gladly eaten the $4M (not a lot of money) to Hollins had Polk and Baker made a 2nd year leap many envisioned. They didn't. The Pats saw these two players were so bad they moved on from Baker and Polk who tried IR'ing himself to prevent getting released (eventually traded) which opened the door for Hollins.

It seems to be lost in translation thinking I said Polk and Baker should still be on the team in favor of Hollins.

He clearly wants to get paid. If that's not obvious, I don't know what else I can do.

The argument isn’t if he wants to get paid.
It’s if he’s a distraction.
I’ve seen no signs of that.

That's why I said " unless I am missing something."

Malcolm Butler and Jamie Collins became distractions once the season began. Wait until he isn’t getting enough snaps or targets in a contract season. I think he’ll be gone before that.
