Some Comments on the comments:

1. Lomu supposedly had a "dominant" day today, just a day after he was a dogshit jag. What a shock. Pats fans can now come out of their bunkers and see the sun is still there and the sky isn't falling.

It's TRAINING camp, folks. There are going to be LOTS of these ups and downs. It's the nature of the game. Kinda like baseball where if you are successful just one out of 3 time, you are a superstar. Same goes for football where if you are a pass rusher and win just 25% of the time, you are making 30-40MM per year. Conversely, if you are an OT and are winning 75% of the time, you will be lucky to be on an NFL roster. Kinda seems unfair

2. Starting to look like Devito might be a quality back up. Still very early, but I'm feeling more comfortable now. And Morton looks like he's a viable QB development project. Good for us.

3. I had to laugh when I read the blurb that our rookie LB was embarrassed by his 4.77 40 time. Back in my day, I was 4.85 LB who was considered a "speed guy" and was eventually moved to SS. Guys are just SOOOOO much faster now than in my day, Meanwhile, it's good news that we are developing some decent depth at ILB, though I'd like to hear more positive news on our draft pick, Obi.

4. In a strange way I'm almost comforted that Maye seems like he had a crappy day today. Makes him more "human". Also, it was interesting that in the blurbs that described the action going on, the writers couldn't actually bring themselves to come out and say it DIRECTLY.

5. I find it interesting that when Brown and Gonzales got into it the other day, it literally became national news. In my experience at an NFL camp (twice). Player "to do's" didn't happen every day. They happened EVERY full contact drill! So, it quickly became a big nothing burger that everyone quickly moved on from and never thought of again, let alone being national news.

6. Eagles coming to town next week, and those joint practices, even more than the actual game itself, will let us.gauge where we REALLY are early in the camp. Can't wait.

This is why when you see an easy head scratching INT either the QB or WR didnt read the play the same. In Corky Mac Jones case, he could not get enough power on the ball to reach the target.

The problem is that the NFL gives teams a choice: carry three QBs and dress QB3 as an emergency backup, or carry two QBs and have an extra game-day inactive.

No, just that people jump to conclusions based on a play or a day in training camp and may have a different take than the guys that matter, the coaches.

Media thought that too. He pulled his hamstring early in camp and didn't practice after that.

Jacobs seems the UFA most likely to succeed.

What Bedard and others apparently don’t realize is one on ones is an excercise to make individual players better… it’s not real football.

Defenders have an advantage in one’s because O-Linemen don’t have inside help or even another set of bodies inside creating an impassible wall.

On top of that Lomu was a rookie going against guys who have been pros for years in some case. “Struggles” are relative, and it’s good to hear Lomu looked good in team drills today on the left side. All rookies struggle at some point, then they often get better.

Very little on Britt or Hutchins for what it’s worth. Add Hutchins off-field issue and he was already a long shot

I have seen Hutchins winning 1on1s a lot more than I expected.

Jacobs seems the UFA most likely to succeed.

And yesterday the UDFA flavor of the day was Arkin.

I think that, as of now, Arkin is our #3 TE.

I think that, as of now, Muma leads the ILB backups and Jacobs is competing with Britt and Obiazor.

The problem is that the NFL gives teams a choice: carry three QBs and dress QB3 as an emergency backup, or carry two QBs and have an extra game-day inactive.

Is it really an extra inactive? Either way you have the same 48-player limit including 2 QBs. The only way the emergency QB comes into play is if the first two are both injured (or ejected), and he’s not allowed to play any other position.

Possibly a hyperextended elbow which likely makes him good to go next week

I think it's likely they see Williams as Boutte's long term replacement. Same might be said for Chism and Douglas.

That doesn't make sense. Boutte is barely 6 months older than Williams. Boutte is better now and hitting his stride as a pro. Williams is still getting his feet. Williams is more likely a BROWN replacement long term. But he does have to start stepping up more in practices.

But it's unlikely they'll renew Boutte's contract. It's possible but I'd bet against right now.
