Leave of absence until pending charges are resolved obviously.

At the moment, he's not facing criminal charges because he's a first-timer.

Tony Romo put on leave at CBS Sports following arrest

Tony Romo has been put on leave from his role at CBS Sports, the network said in a statement on Friday.

Romo was issued three citations in connection with the incident -- operating while under the influence, unsafe passing, and possession of an open container in a moving vehicle -- which were obtained by ABC News on Wednesday, pursuant to a public records request.


Romo is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21 at 8:30 a.m., according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department.

Its is only the arraignment where you plead guilt or innocence.

Romo's Lawyer can plead on his behalf the same way that Krafts Lawyer did for him in the Orchard Day Spa debacle.

I didn't know Romo is halfway through a 10-year $180 million contract with CBS Sports. Chances are his employer is jumping at the chance to get out of it. Naming his replacement at this early juncture suggests they're headed that way.

The contract most certainly has a personal conduct clause re. things like criminal behavior reflecting poorly on the network. When Sanchez assaulted the old truck driver Fox Sports dropped him like a hot potato. Same with Willie McGinest and assault charges over a nightclub brawl costing him his gig with NFL Network.

I get that but this is an OWI and he didn't look close to hammered. I dunno.

These contracts always have “morals” clauses. Does OWI violate such a clause? Well that’s why we have judges, juries and arbiters.

But yeah I could see CBS trying to weasel out of the contract they signed with Romo here. He was the hottest broadcaster in the League (which I never understood; I couldn’t stand the guy from day 1) but the viewing public soured on him.
