PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 5

The Manxman jinx strikes again. It sounds like the offense had an excellent day. Top betting tip. Bet on the opposite to what I say.
Wasn't that only in the passing attack? Didn't the running offense leave a lot to be desired?

Despite losing Hill, TE is looking very promising in terms of being a fully filled out position group. Raridon and Arkin have showed real promise.
Hill was specifically brought in for run blocking so it’s great to hear Arkin has been knocking guys down on those plays. Would be a great revelation if he can fill that role and make Hill’s injury moot. First day in pads of course, he’s got a ton to prove, but it’s a good start.

Replay confirms call on the field. Touchdown!

So I see Tanner Arkin making some noise so I look him up and see this pic:

And I'm like WTF....he looks like this guy:

Who used to play for this team but now is going to coach TE for another team.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thoughts - WR... If we aren't trading Boutte and Efton and Williams are both making noise than Douglas is the odd man out. Yes he makes occasional big plays but who else rolled their eyes all those times he tripped over his own feet with the ball in his hands trying to make something happen last year. After this year Boutte is almost certainly gone one way or another. Lets I am not paying Douglas the 8M he will get. Williams and Efton are more interesting options with higher upside and more cap friendly.

Wilson... This is the 2nd snap this week that has been muffed. I am keeping track. I said I would give the first a pass.. this does not get a pass. It isn't panic time. But the muffed snap count is now 2. Unfortunately we may not have a better option at center if this continues.

Campbell is looking good. Last year was a mix of ugly losses, many vs elite talent, solid holds and strong run plays. We don't only needs less losses (even vs elite guys) but we need less ugly losses where he basically allows no time. Hope that is improving.

OT - the Depth here is encouraging to say the least.

OL in general - They allowed a lot of sacks today. They also didn't do much in the running game. I expect the OL to be behind the DL at this point. But they had issues on short yardage plays. They really need to improve that.

TE - Hunter hasn't lost a step. My boy Raridon looking ready to step into TE2 quickly and maybe improve on the Hooper role in year 1. I am not expecting Tanner to be Hill. But if he can give them a good run blocking option and make that hurt less it be nice.

DT - dominated the middle it sounds like. If Barmore it out there, brace or not, it is nothing to worry about I think. If there was a chance it could get hurt worse this early they would pull him.

Edge - I am curious where the non-called sacks came from and who got them? Jones? Ponder? Randos on missed assignments?

LB - can say much here. I know Spillane lost on a passing play, not really his biggest strength. Not worried about it. Elliss having a day is nice.

CB - I am glad Woods is showing he can be that CB4 for us. They were very lucky last year. I hope it holds. But they will probably have some stretch with someone going down for a bit this year and need an option. Also... pay Gonzo already. Just get it done. Also while I like Woods as a 4... The 5th is... no one as of yet.

S - It is early but Byard was suppose to be a huge upgrade. Not seeing it yet. I think we will though. Not worried.

Gonzalez and D. Witherspoon are currently having a staring contest to see who blinks first and signs a contract. Both want to be the top paid guy
they have the same agent so one will get one dollar more than the other?

Yeah but what are his views on foot fetishes?

Yeah that was one of the best things I read today. If he can continue to evolve as a nasty blocker and Raridon keeps progressing, the te situation will be a lot better than most of us thought. Long way to go, but encouraging nonetheless.
If tge group reaches the point where they can run 2 and even 3 te sets, McD will have a field day. This offense could evolve into enough multiplicity it will make defenses' heads spin

A couple of RZ TDs and some dominating blocks from Arkin but that is still the weakness.
