The Patriots would be betting underdogs in every game this season without Maye bar the Jets/Dolphins at home when they might be a tiny fav against this schedule.

If by being able to beat the Jets in a 17-16 rockfight without Maye then you might be right but the Pats are back to being down there with the worst teams in the league if Maye goes down, if you plugged Maye into the Jets they're an instant playoff contender we act like there's some huge chasm between the good and the bad but 80% of it is just the quarterback the whole teams confidence and the culture implodes when you get bad QB play.

They were never going to trade him. We use 3 WRs in our base offense and he is one of the 3 best.

I don't dispute that he is one of the three best, but I think before camp the team felt they were set at WR without him..

I don’t think he is trying to „ underhand“ anyone…..

he just has like this inferiority complex to his own organization & wants the CUSTOMER to see himself as RELEVANT to the process; when he really isn’t. He says yes at the end of the day, but if you think the contract details, affordability analysis and deal isn’t from Wolf-Vrabes (and RK just the bag man)…..you are crazy.

Gonzo, and his agent, also have to show some understanding as well.
they have no leverage.
Gonzo is on a 2/$23m deal with his option year exercised.
Gonzo would be foolish to risk $75m+ fighting over another $5m

Gotta agree with this. Kid JUST turned 24 and he still hasn't peaked. Better O-line play should give Drake time to get him the ball more often.

I’m concerned about CB depth…especially if Woods is injured and it’s not heat exhaustion.

Woods is a 4th CB. He's a vet special teamer with spot experience. I would expect Vildor to do the same thing. I would expect Prunty to be pushing for that spot sooner than later. Same with Dial.

I'll be worried about CB depth if they have to put 2-3 onto IR.

He’s in a contract year? Dialing it up for the season would be good. Maybe he can have a breakout year, play up to the level of his capabilities, and silence his critics.

Barmore's contract runs through 2028. If you consider it a "contract year because this is the last year where cutting him has a negative cap hit, then ok..

But why would you think that?
Patriots never gave any indication they were thinking of trading Boutte.
This was all in the minds of a few mediots
and some fans.
The idea never made one iota of sense to me.
Boutte was their best deep wr and 2nd best overall after Diggs. But much younger than Diggs, hasn't reached his ceiling yet and has great chemistry with Maye.
Injuries happen. This team has,SB aspirations. What happens if either Brown or Doubs goes down and you already traded Boutte?

Needs to show up with production (tackles and sacks) rather than random hair on fire BS in real games.

He's a D-Lineman that takes on blockers, many times double-teams. He's not going to be the league leader in Sacks or tackles and such an expectation is flawed.

Barmore and Williams are who teams will focus on. That will leave the DEs and LBs to shine in the run game and the passing game. People should have learned from the Belichick years how excellent D-Linemen will not have "the numbers".

“Trade rumors” were all just people speculating he may have a reduced role and not like it and misunderstanding that teams don’t trade players they need because of things like that.

In late July, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, a prominent NFL insider who frequently covers the Patriots, stated that the organization is trying "to do right by" Boutte by finding him a new home where he can secure a larger role. Breer reported that the Patriots would have accepted a fifth-round draft pickfor Boutte during the 2026 NFL Draft, though no offers materialized at that time.

Similarly, Mike Reiss of ESPN, noted that Boutte’s absence from voluntary offseason workouts coincided with reports that the player was available.
