It’s odd how you can totally write off every backup ILB on this roster, drafted or otherwise… then suggest I changed something you said?

When this unit ends up being decent and backups emerge you’ll blame it on me distorting something you said… not you simply being wrong.

I never said any player doesn't have a chance while they are on the roster at the beginning of the first year.

Why are they thin again, how does adding one more body to the ILB room not help… what are we even arguing about?

He was the lone FB on the roster before they brought Westover and another guy in… that didn’t make him good or assume he was out there “pancaking” pro football players.

They had nobody else, he wasn’t a good athlete or strong (like I said at the time) and he got hurt. This wasn’t college anymore, these weren’t kids from some podunk conference.

He will be enshrined in the binkie hall of fame next to Bam Childress and Nate Sudfeld. Stop relying solely on PFF grades.

I never wrote off anyone. I said they are weak overall depth wise.

Of course any one player could surprise and flip that.

That's why they play the games.

Adding a body helps statistically.

The 2025 Pats scouts did a great job recognizing talent, the coaches did a great job developing it. I don’t think they forgot how to do their jobs since last season.

It's July. Maybe wait til end of preseason before making predictions.
Plus,he posted it like its fact. That's just the same as someone posting they'll be 4-0 outta the gate. Both are wrong and too premature.
Criticism is good if its realistic. I dont see 1-3 any more realistic than 4-0.

OLB/DE Harold Landry III and TE C.J. Dippre are opening camp on the active/physically unable to perform list, and RB Terrell Jennings is opening on the active/non-football injury list. This means they are not yet cleared for practice, but can be activated at any time.

I think Harold Landry will be cashing checks all year on the pine. C.J. Dippre well we never knew you.

I haven't seen nearly enough evidence that Doubs in his first year with the OC and QB, is better than a motivated, 4th year Boutte repeating a system and OC for the first time in his career. Let the guys fight it out, and let Boutte know that if he wins the comp and has a good year, he'll get paid appropriately.

Let the guys fight it out, and let Boutte know that if he wins the comp and has a good year, he'll get paid appropriately.

I mean, Doubs is bigger, taller and a better athlete. He’s played with a lesser QB, had to battle better WR’s for snaps and posted better stats… but beyond that there’s no evidence.

Boutte is NOT a free agent. There is almost zero reason for the patriots to consider a new contract at this point.

The open question is whether he is worth his salary for 2026.

Sadly, I expect the same this year - we're going to be stuck with Westover. Arkin is a blocker, but we need our TE3 to be more than just a weaker OT. If we're stuck with our current guys, I guess I'd rather give Arkin a shot - seems he's a better receiver than his numbers showed at Illinois. But, I'm really hoping we sign a vet. Pharoah Brown could be a very nice, cheap option. He sounds old (32) but he's had pretty light usage. Could be a lot of tread left.

Also, context matters. Zippy Zappe and Jac Brissett are not NFL qb's, and AVP is not an MFL OC.

IMO, we signed #2 WR Doubs and finally added a #1 WR in Brown.

There is little reason to weaken the 2026 team by cutting Boutte. At very least, we should wait for the trade deadline to see how much we are getting out of Doubs and Williams.
