Base Case - First 2026 53-Man Roster

Would... And in the case of the one on the right, Would've.

Ben Brown's on my 53, right next to Wilson at Center.
ty for the correction.

Perhaps you are right and we will carry 10 OL's including all three of Crownover, Bryant and Wallace.

If all are healthy, I am fine with your roster. If someone is on PUP, I think that we both would expect a signing. As you said, this is roster with no additions.

My best guess barring injuries and development by the youngsters....

I don't doubt they could probably slide Crownover to the practice squad and carry another guard or even another small player like a CB or someone who can play more special teams... at least to get them through the 53 man roster crunch. But the players I have making the practice squad now I could easily see surprising in preseason and making the 53 over another player I have listed. I also could see them trading or cutting another WR, seven isn't likely but at least a few of those guys have some special teams versatility so maybe. They could also slide one of those DT's to the PS and carry someone else.

Taking into account Zero additions - though we sure do need a few - and Full Go status for everybody else in the building:

QB (2) Drake Maye, Tommy DeVito; Morton waived & signed to PS.

RB (4) Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson, Reggie Gilliam, Lan Larison; neither Miller nor Montgomery distinguish themselves, and Jennings just plain Sucks.

TE (3) Hunter Henry, Eli Raridon, and CJ Dippre who replaces Hill.

WR (6) A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, Kyle Williams; Douglas & Williams do enough to fend off Chizm. The rest are Garbage.

C (2) Jared Wilson, Ben Brown
G (4) Alijah Vera-Tucker, Mike Onwenu, Caleb Lomu, Caedan Wallace
T (4) Will Campbell, Morgan Moses, Dametrious Crownover, and Marcus Bryant though I can see Rupcich unseating him...
The rest are Garbage.

DE (3) Dre’Mont Jones, Elijah Ponder, and Gabe Jacass IF he's healthy.

DT (5) Christian Barmore, Milton Williams, Cory Durden, Joshua Farmer, Eric Gregory; they need Gregory as their only NT so there's no room for Taylor.

ILB (5) Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, K.J. Britt, Chad Muma, Namdi Obiazor; Britt makes it on experience only because I don't really like him otherwise. Obi makes it as the only Patriots Drafted LB in the building.

OLB (2) Harold Landry IF healthy, Bradyn Swinson. That makes 5 DE/OLBs, including 2 with serious health issues. Not good.

CB (5) Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, Karon Prunty, and Kindle Vildor who Sucks, but everybody else is Much worse.

SS (2) Craig Woodson, and Mike Brown who Sucks, but it was either he or Dell Heavy Pettus and there was No room for both.
FS (2) Kevin Byard, and Charlie('s lost in the) Woods who Sucks but he's a Pet so he's untouchable.

ST (4) Brenden Schooler, Bryce Baringer, Andy Borregales, Julian Ashby

Total Players: 53

My very personal view is that there are fewer fights for roster spots than is normal.

Larison, Wallace, Swinson and Obiazor are the bottom 4 for me. All could easily be gone before Game 1. I certainly hope for upgrades.

Also, I suspect that we will only keep one of Bryant and Crownover, but for now they are more likely than others not on your roster.

Obviously, Landry might start on the PUP list and open a roster spot.

Finally, I expect Jacas to show us that at least is worthy of having his name spelled correctly.

I kind of thought that name was gonna stick around the way the early going has gone. Captain has quite a few nicknames he’s made for players over the years so I kind of expect he didn't have to think too hard on that one.

Get it together, get back on the field and terrorize and it will go away real quick.

The Jam Miller - Lan Larison - Myles Montgomery competition for RB3 should be interesting... Wouldn't mind seeing another Big Back signed, however.

Nicky DeGennaro on the 53?!? No way no how; not even if BootyTime's traded.

No KJ Britt, even on the PS? Fine by me; I don't think he's much good either.

Pettus & Mike Brown are redundant: both are not-even-backup-caliber Strong Safety-types who are Garbage in coverage. Should be either one or the other, at most, especially with Schooler available for those snaps too. Among other things, we really need a backup Free Safety.... Maybe local dude Ife Melifonwu, former 3rd-round pick of the Loins (101st) back in 2021 and who started 8 of 16 games played for Miami last year...?

7 WR's so that we can have DeGennaro on the 53 makes no sense. He can compete with Dixon for the PS.
I suppose Chism makes it if Boutte is traded. I suspect not.

DEFENSE
Britt is likely staying as the 5th ILB and STer.
Woods probably make the 53 as one of the 6 CB's.
I see no reason for the extra safety.

The Jam Miller - Lan Larison - Myles Montgomery competition for RB3 should be interesting... Wouldn't mind seeing another Big Back signed, however.
Jennings will be on the practice squad, but taking another big back in next year's draft would probably be prudent. Rhamondre's not old but accruing miles, he is almost up for a contract extension and it's better to have options in free agency.
Nicky DeGennaro on the 53?!? No way no how; not even if BootyTime's traded.
Him or Nixon, though they could probably stash both on the PS assuming they don't look too good in preseason. It's always pie in the sky thinking with rookie WR's because the failure rate is so high at the position. Those two guys are superior athletes, I gave the edge to DeGennaro because he played at a bigger school. They're UDFA's, chances are they're both projects or no good at all.
No KJ Britt, even on the PS? Fine by me; I don't think he's much good either.
Good instincts in the run game, but a lesser athlete who gives you nothing in coverage.

Yeah I labeled them Strong and Free but they're really the same, interchangeable players. I think we'll see Kevin Byard in more of a free safety role because of his brain and experience.

Every safety after the two starters and Schooler are pretty much the same player. Good/not/great athlete that knows the game, how to play special teams and open field tackle. I don't see the concern here, somebody has to play special teams.

We'll see how many WR's can play special teams.

I think Boutte is gone without question if everyone's healthy and at least one of the UDFA's shines.

On defense just a thought here.. I don't expect Gonzo to be a hold out.. but let's say he's a "hold in".. and not participating in team practices, ect that gives more opportunities to some of the unknowns like woods and Prunty.. Britt is going to make the team in some capacity we are to thin at LB already.

I don't think that Gonzo should play much in any case.

Camp and the preseason is there so that the backups can develop.

I give you guys A for effort in coming up with these lists. Lazy guys like myself, need them to help get through this dead period. However, Woz, we are NOT going to keep SEVEN WR's on the 53. In fact, one can make a great case for only 5, given the addition of a FB and other 2 RB formations we will see this year. We were fairly balanced last season in the run and pass games. Drake rarely had games when he had more than 30 attempts. It will be hard enough to satisfy 5 WRs, let alone 7 of them. 5 WR's on the 53 plus 2-3 more on the PS will give us depth for the inevitable injuries.

I can see us keeping 6, but I don't want to invest too many players at the WR position when we will be one deep at FB and carry only 3 TE's. I don't know much about the limitations of bringing guys on the PS up to the 53 for injuries, but PS players could expect to see a lot of action this season if we accrue the normal number of games lost to injuries. And while I pretty much hated most our day 3 picks, I really liked about 4-6 of the UDFAs we brought in.

They'll be given their opportunities, don't worry about that: Gonzo, Marcus J & Carlton Davis are going to kept under bubble-wrap for the entire preseason... As for Britt, he kinda sucks, so I hope he's not a lock by any means... Obiazor, on the other hand, is a Near-Lock as the only drafted LB in the building.

That's too bad. Pats should've drafted Deion Burks then, instead of Quim Hutchins, to provide some competition for Pop & the Chism trail...
The bridge was burned by the Pats. The made their choice not to pick up the tab and you know that pissed off Diggs. Imagine being the best in your role at the company, but they tell you "thanks Captain, but you need to take a pay cut or we're going to let you go."

The Pats moved on and signed Doubs which I think was an absolutely a bizarre move. The offer the Pats would give Diggs would probably offend him. He needs to go to a team like the Rams as the 3rd option, but his pride is going to get in the way thinking he should at least be a #2.

I just don't want to see him going to KC, Bawlmore, Houston, or Barfalo.

I said as much in my depth chart post, they likely won’t carry 7 WR’s. Even with a Boutte trade we might see another WR get traded or cut outright if one of the undrafted guys looks great.

Some of these WR’s are two way players and can contribute on special teams, we’ll see how it plays out. But they will probably roster 6 WR’s and carry another DB or ILB who can tackle and play special teams.

I don’t recall any team in history rostering two FB’s, they can easily slide a Westover or someone else to the PS.
