Yep. He's 23. Being in a rush to move on from him is crazy to me, but it is what it is.that is why you keep him.
i don't like this. not one bit.
effin' stupid move if you ask me

out of all our home grown receivers he should be part of the plans. You don’t just magically get a comp pick, it depends on contracts in vs contracts out. If they spend more than they lose on players leaving then they don’t get much comp back. You can’t just say “oh they’ll get a comp pick for him when he leaves”.
Secondly, even if he was worth a 4th round comp pick (which I’m not sure he will be, but let’s say he is) - they would have to wait until after this year, then let him leave, then go through free agency etc, and then at the end of the NEXT year, find out what comp picks they end up with. So the comp pick they get wouldn’t arrive until the 2028 draft. Instead they could trade for a 5th round pick now in the 2027 draft, which would be equal to a 4th round pick in the 2028 draft, as picks are generally devalued by a round annually in trades.
So, they can skip the headaches this year since they know he’s not part of future plans and so does he, leave that for some other team, move on with building their new WR room, and get back capital right away that is roughly equal to what they would have gotten for keeping him anyway in the best case scenario.
His QB in Philly is garbage.out of all our home grown receivers he should be part of the plans.
its a tragedy to send guys who have demonstrated growth and maturity in their game packing... if he were a scrubini, you let him walk... but he's not... he's a damn good player. better than any receiver we currently have on the roster - including Romeo Doubs...
this stuff pisses me off... wasting talent on the promise of a potential upgrade we do not know the cost of...
would much rather spend the money on Gonzo than Brown... don't know why, but i just don't care much for him as a player... maybe its been the two years of carping in Philly, but eh, **** that guy at this point... ymmv
Realizing there is large possibility he and his agent are asking for his release or to trade him.that is why you keep him.

I see room for growth for Boutte still.Remember…a lot of teams reportedly had him off their draft boards entirely for character reasons. That stuff sticks in the minds of GM’s limiting teams who would go get him. Also, when did anyone ever say “boy, that D coordinator better have a plan for Boutte!”?.
He’s been a solid player. Nothing special.
Though I’d argue that Pop is even more replaceable.
its very easy to gruntle a player... pay him moneyRealizing there is large possibility he and his agent are asking for his release or to trade him.
We don’t need another disgruntled Malcolm Butler or Jamie Collins situation.
so he acts like a child? okHis QB in Philly is garbage.
moss was a give away... think brown will be?Randy Moss wasn’t exactly endearing himself to the Raiders back when.
Bingo! We got a Bingo! nailed it with that oneThese dudes are headcases…every one of them.
He saw what Doubs got. You don’t think he wants that, the same way Malcolm Butler saw what Gilmore got and thought that was his money?its very easy to gruntle a player... pay him money
That's not the point though. The point is that the players are all in the same basket of guys who can go anywhere from 5 to UDFA. You're trading a guy who can help you next year for players who, chances are high, will never help you. Boutte is himself one of these guys but I note that he's the ONLY 1 of 23 players we've taken 5th through 7th rds in the last 5 years who either became a starter OR made meaningful contributions.By the time you get to the 5th, pretty much everybody left has "warts" of some kind. It's just a question of fit.
Doubs and Kyle Williams are better? Are we certain? If you have AJ Brown, Doubs and want to get Kyle Williams more snaps and targets… what do you do with Boutte? Bench him, or play him over better players?
Butler and Collins both gambled.. Butler Turned down reportedly the very same deal he got in Tennessee here.. Collins similarly.. Butler mentioned he wish he'd never left.. fortunately for him he's made enough money to actually buy up a few Popeyes restaurants he was found working in when he got a call for a tryout!Realizing there is large possibility he and his agent are asking for his release or to trade him.
We don’t need another disgruntled Malcolm Butler or Jamie Collins situation.
that move was a desperation move because of a lack of progress in free agency... never should have brought him in... the grass ain't always greener, ya know?He saw what Doubs got. You don’t think he wants that, the same way Malcolm Butler saw what Gilmore got and thought that was his money?
You’re about to absorb a stupid large contract in AJ Brown, they already paid Doubs… they don’t need to assign any more of the annual salary cap budget to the WR position. There’s a hard cap, this isn’t baseball.
This smacks of the whole JuJu versus Jakobi fiasco.out of all our home grown receivers he should be part of the plans.

I am sick to death of metrics.
Oh he doesn't get YAC!?!?!?
I hate these front office dweebs with a passion.
From what the teams shown by thier actions is they felt they could improve the position with or without Boutte.. they were never going to retain Diggs unless he restructured of course.. what's not being discussed is Doubs wanted to come here.. he specifically told his agent this. No matter who stays/goes we can all agree the position will have significant upgrades post June 1 with or without Boutte in the mix.Doubs and Kyle Williams are better? Are we certain?
Because 70% success rate and 16.7 YPC is hard to beat.
Doubs is at 58% and 13 YPC.
But again, this is about injuries and depth.
1 for 23 5th round and later in the last 5 years.
Trying to remember my SAT skills from 40 years ago, but...He saw what Doubs got. You don’t think he wants that, the same way Malcolm Butler saw what Gilmore got and thought that was his money?

This is why Doubs is here...that move was a desperation move because of a lack of progress in free agency... never should have brought him in... the grass ain't always greener, ya know?
Doubs yes, Williams has the potential to be much better.Doubs and Kyle Williams are better? Are we certain?
500 yards receiving is 500 yards.Because 70% success rate and 16.7 YPC is hard to beat.
Jordan LoveDoubs is at 58% and 13 YPC.
If Boutte doesn’t want to sit behind Brown you can’t expect him to do it and keep his mouth shut or be a distraction. Vrabel wants players who want to be here. But again, this is about injuries and depth.
The current regime has been here for little over a year. The past is meaningless.1 for 23 5th round and later in the last 5 years.
You think the AFC Champs with the most attractive young QB in football were desperate?that move was a desperation move because of a lack of progress in free agency... never should have brought him in... the grass ain't always greener, ya know?
