Boutte available for trade?

Pape your going to lure @PatsFan2
What's he gonna say that had any relevance to my opinion of the wr Corp?

Not much tbh

Upstater is right, this is like Meyers all over again with the caveat that brown is better than juju...

I feel like Boutte, Hollins and Douglas are not safe, enter AJ Brown, Romeo Doubs, and A bigger role for Chism, let’s say one of the fringe wrs step up in camp this could make Hollins replaceable with youth.
Douglas, I think Chism is already a better route runner, if he develops some more burst, explosion to go along with his toughness he will be hard to keep off the field.
Pop Turf Monster Douglas??

Who care

Who cares whos right or wrong what we all need to look at is the WR corps as a whole stands to be better post June 1 than it was last season with or without Boutte..I'm an optimist and that's my opinion

Hmmmm….

Keep our draft picks and let Boutte play in a contract year,

Or

Trade valuable assets for an aging, highly paid WR with concerning physical issues.

What to do what to do?
both!
Brown, Doubs, Boutte (on a rookie deal), Hollins (in his last year), Williams (on a rookie deal)
arguably, a top 3-5 WR room top to bottom in the league

Rise... rise the Undertaker.
Twin.. honestly here... do we not believe post June 1 with or without K. Boutte this WR group isn't better? Diggs wasn't retained and even with Diggs the team was looking to upgrade..

I do not know where exactly on the depth chart he will end up, but given he is early enough in his career that further growth is likely, and given the VERY modest return trading him would bring, he is not at all the first WR I would consider trading. He has his limitations for the present, but the arrow is still pointing up, it seems to me. Hopefully we we will be smart enough not to waste resources on a gimpy, fading AJ Brown, and the question will thereby be rendered moot.

Let me say this again:

in the last 5 years, 1 out of our 23 picks from the 5th round and later has ended up starting for us or being a contributor.

1 out of 23.

Yes, you are cherrypicking.
2023 - Kayshon Boutte, Pop Douglas, Bryce Baringer
2025 - Andres Borregales, Julian Ashby

I count 5 in the last 3 years, one of whom is the very player being argued you can't trade away for such a low pick because those types of players aren't good enough. Yet, he is one such player...

Assuming AJB is coming here I get the logic behind the move so I'm not violently opposed to it but I do think it's a dumb move for several reasons. Number 1 on my list being QB WR chemistry. Love him or hate him I think everyone can agree smack dat Boutte was the guy Maye had 100% faith in when it came time to throw it up and hope for him to make a play. I want Drake having at least one of those guys that we KNOW he enjoys throwing to. That connection is one that only grows with time and reps so we can reasonably assume they will both be even better this year.

Second is this is the NFL, injuries happen all the time and WRs can't run full tilt all the time. Even an AJB isn't going to take 100% of snaps and having a guy that can rotate in and keep everyone fresh is huge. I'd rather have that guy in 2026 be Boutte then Hollins if they pay off is a 5th or 6th. Sure if both AJB and Doubs are healthy Bouttes snaps will go down and a different kind of receiver like Williams is important for that 3rd spot but what are the odds AJB doesn't blow out his knee at some point during the season? Or Doubs gets lit up going over the middle and is out for a couple weeks with a concussion? All of a sudden having a guy that could be a decent starter means a lot.

Final thought I would be able to justify and be ok with the deal if they get what should be a high end 4 from a team. Dolphins or Raiders for example want to give us a 2027 4th or a Buffalo KC 3rd I would consider fair value. Anything less no way I'm dealing I'd rather have the depth of a known commodity that my QB loves.

I going to say this I think last FA: Romeo Doubs was our Plan C. I think we really wanted Alec Pierce and he prefered Indy. All this with AJB still coming in the fold. Regarding K Boutte I think his ceiling is very similar to Doubs or maybe slightly higher. K Boutte could be the Huge beneficiary with AJB drawing coverage on the other side. Also K Boutte have an advantage over Doubs in our current Offense; He was off to a very Fast Start last year before his concussion. We are not Rich @ WR to Trade him: we are more like the sisters of the poor in that area.
Lol.
Alec Pierce.

I keep saying it, some of you, and you know who you are, greatly over value our players. Boutte had some really nice plays, but if you can upgrade the position you upgrade the position. But overall his numbers are meh, not even a #2's numbers. What if AJB and Diggs are coming, what does that do to Boutte's playing time? Apart from giving us one of the top wr groups in the league? Will he be happy sitting on the bench?

Doesn't matter if hes happy. He's under contract.

baloney
look at the catch %. look at the 1st downs. look at the ypc. look at the TD's

rcpts and yards are usage stats. Boutte wasn't used to a larger degree (and missed some time with injury)
500 yards receiving… how will they ever replace that?

Oh yeah… with AJ Brown, a much better player.

It's not math, it's analogies.

Doubs compares to Boutte the way Gilmore compares to Butler.

True or False.
Doubs is better than Boutte, Gilmore was better than Butler.

Gilmore was a much larger gap of “better.” But both are true.

1 for 23 5th round and later in the last 5 years.

This is very misleading on your part, Upstarter. You don't define what you consider a "Hit". Since you said 23 player, that seems to cover 2021-2025. (I added 2020 in case you were going 2020-2024) Personally, if you're attempting to grade drafts in the last 3 years beyond the player just being out of the league outright, you're not doing it right. The Players in Bold are ones who are regular contributors already.

I put in bold the obvious "hits"
Dial and Milton could be considered "hits" since Dial played 83% of the Special Teams snaps in 2024 and Milton was traded because Dallas wanted him as their back-up to Prescott.

We don't know what the Pats have in Swinson and Bryant as they were considered projects when drafted.

Once you define what you consider to be a hit, then we can talk percentages, but let's be honest, it's already more than the 1 you stated in your post.

2025 : (5picks)
5th round - Swinson
6th round - Borregales
7th round - Bryant
7th round - Ashby
7th round - Minor

2024: (3 picks)
6th round - Marcellas Dial
6th round - Milton *- traded
7th round - Bell

2023: (6 picks)
5th Round - Mafi
6th round - Boutte
6th round - Barringer
6th round - Douglas
6th round - Ameer Speed
7th round - Bolden

2022: (4 picks)
6th round - Kevin Harris
6th round - Sam Roberts
6th round - Chasen Hines
7th round - Andrew Steuber

2021: (4picks)
5th round - Cam McGrone
6th round - Josh Bledsoe
6th round - Will Sherman
7th round - Tre Nixon

2020: (5 picks)
5th round - Rohrwasser
6th round - Onwenu
6th round - Herron
6th round - Maluia
7th round - Woodard

I've said this before and will say it again...Boutte's best route to securing a nice contract for himself is remaining here and getting to the next FA cycle.. he should embrace having guys like AJ around him or the TE raridon to control coverage..he then gets 3rd & 4th CB's.. But i can forsee how this plays out.. it will likely end up AJ, Doubs, Williams, Hollins as the primary guys..
