For the life of me, I can't think of a SINGLE-story Rossini "broke" on the Pats last season, so what exactly is she trading?
Reporters work with information, that's their stock in trade. For every story you read, there are countless threads of info they have. Some end up in future stories, some are too hard to prove or don't merit coverage till more info comes in so they never see the light of day.
For instance, the following story would have no coverage at all if they couldn't connect it to the
Page Six story, but once they can, it's in
Sports Illustrated.
Coaches and their wives discussed Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini days before Page Six published pictures.

So, in short, just because she didn't break a story about the Pats didn't mean she didn't get useful info from Vrabel. Regardless, the photos create the appearance of lack of journalistic integrity, and that's why she no longer works for NY Times.
This is just a farce. This whole thing has NOTHING to do with "journalistic integrity" and everything to do with a juicy sex scandal that has led to endless easy content speculating about anything and everything.
IMO you exaggerate. Yes, most of it is about the sex, but also, NYT's best-paid journalist left her gig largely due to the internal investigation her employer had started related to her "journalistic integrity", presumably because she knew where it'd end up.
That story by the British Rag that has a LONG history of totally making up stories about the Pats contacting Tomlin is particularly frustrating. There was never a single other source that backed up their story, yet "analysts" and pod casters used the story to speculate about Vrabel's future like it was the Gospel Truth. Just as we gossiped about it in this thread giving it far more credence than it deserved.
I too find many of the "offshoot" stories frustrating, and have made some posts pushing back on at least one of them.
As far as I'm concerned, this thread needs to be locked and only opened up again IF there is a CREDIBLE story questioning Mike's future with the Pats.
Uhm, this thread started because there was a question about if this exact issue was credible or not.
It makes no sense for a discussion forum to not discuss a topic that is credible enough to raise doubts.
The right answer is for
you to hit the Ignore button on threads that anger
you.
Ian tried censoring threads and found that simply doesn't work.
As far as Vrabel is concerned, this was a private matter between him and his family. As far as Rossini is concerned it seems pretty clear to me that she was NOT trading sex for stories. She is being scapegoated, plain and simple, because if that were the case she did a pretty bad job of it, since she didn't break any big stories on the Pats in the 2025 season.
If both him and her would have initially said something like "this is a private matter" instead of "nothing to see here", or even worse, "These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable”, this story would have died before the Draft.
However...
The main reason this story has "legs" is because Vrabel botched how he handled it initially.
