DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 2

Which is crazy for a team that had a horseshoe in its axx last season.

This team needed to improve today.
I believe it was Doug Kyed in the Herald today said we had a solid Oline. Campbell, Vera-Tucker, Wilson, Onwenu and Moses, doesn't strike me as solid. Oline killed us last year and has the potential to do so again this year. I would have liked a couple more free agents coming in. Maybe there will be some opportunities between now and the season opener.

Ngl, Jacksonville may literally have the worst pick in the draft thus far @ #56.

Bedard thinks none of the selected players will see the field much this season. And doesn’t seem bothered by it.

If he’s right, how do we feel about 3 redshirts?

In the big picture view, it's inline with expectations of a team drafting 31st.

Hopefully the afterglow of our Super Bowl run takes away the disappointment of the poor draft position.

BB often coped with being successful by trading down to get more bites of the apple, hoping one or more would out-perform their draft position.

I'd rather do what we're doing, sacrificing Day 3 picks to move up on Days 1 and 2 to get someone who has to red shirt but is projected to be able to start Year 2.

Bill often swung for the fences, but struck out a lot.

I thought the three biggest needs were Edge, RT, and TE.

Through three picks, all three needs have been addressed with high caliber athletes.

Time will tell if the picks pan out, but I'm having a difficult time finding something to complain about.
Yup
Lomu replaces Lowe
Jacas replaces Jennings
Riordan is an upgrade (and replaces) Dippre

I would like to trade up one more time and get a LB, NT or RB. We have not replaced our losses at these positions. Of course, we have folks in camp who might do the job.

Jacas is an upgrade replacing Jennings imo a big one.

Agree on LB as next big need. NT not as pressing a need. RB even less so. Before RB I’d like developmental IOL and developmental DBs (CB more than S, but both eventually).

Agree.

Last season we had relatively good draft position and a lot of holes to fill. We needed to keep our picks and hit on pretty much all of them, and pretty much did.

This season we have relatively poor draft position but not as many holes to fill. We can burn late round picks to move up to take fewer but better players than our draft position allows.

We already had a butt-load of new players at our first OTA, the roster was full. Now it's time to add a few pieces that can compete for spots on a roster with many role players trying to make the leap to starter.

Why wouldn't Jacas and Raridon see the field this year?
Bedard doesn't know what the hell he's talking about....again.

It’s the BSM schtick. Boston Sports Media is always trying to stir things up, fomenting unrest and disrespect for the local team management and coaching. They think it feeds passionate fan engagement, lots of calls and talk about their hot takes, and of course that translates to ratings and ad revenues.

TL;DR: trad media clickbait.

Yeah, that isn't actually what he said or did.

His take was far more nuanced than that.

Google it.

Lots of injuries have occured.
I do not know of any player who blew out his knee between 4/24 and 6/2. You must because you keep pretending it happens. Google says no.

'I love it!' Jones said during a media conference call. 'I'll take as much as I can get ... Let's go ketchup!'

The center was the 57th pick of this year's NFL Draft. And thanks to a new promotion from the good people at Heinz 57, he is entitled to a lifetime supply of the brand's signature product.

Obviously, a player who is extended would be considered a successful draft pick
Right, im just saying... there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

My feeling is that this is a draft that you won’t get the full impact of till next season. I think Raridon has the best chance of starting soonest.

Lomu…probably does need a year to get stronger.

I think the chances of Moses and Campbell going all season without injury is remote. Lomu will fill in for either injury and move to RT full-time in 2027. Hopefully Crownover is the swing in 2027. We need a RG in 2027 draft and we are all set.

We are close to going BPA in R1 next year if these draft picks work out.

That if healthy is a very good o line. Vera Tucker is elite. Wilson is a natural center. Onwenu might have eaten a cow but still can move really well. Moses is old but a rock on the right side. Campbell will be better this season unless you feel he can't ever get better.

No that line is in great shape heading into the season.
