Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
No my point is that I would take Seattle's D players over ours, most often ranked #2 last season.

My main point of comparison is to the team that won the Super Bowl, that's the level we want to be at.

The WFT thing was an aside about putting too much stock in what we achieved in 2026.

Sorry if what I wrote was unclear.
No worries! I figured after I sent the post that it was likely you meant Seattle. As Washington defense is terrible!

Seattle yes good defense but we also have to remember thier path to the superbowl was far easier than ours.

They faced 2 division opponents.
SF with basically 9 starters missing.. there's NO one on Seattles defense that compares to Fred Warner or bosa those are future HOF worthy guys..

Also Stafford ate Seattle's defense up in the NFCCG. They lost because of nucua dropping a ball.

So Seattle defense is good but they aren't the 2000 Ravens or the legion of boom

They salivated and took advantage of the rookie side of the OL.. it was a good game plan. I'd imagine when we see them again the game will be much different..

Brown is upgrade over Diggs
Doubs is an upgrade over Boutte
2026 Williams is an upgrade over 2025 Williams
Hollins is Hollins (unchanged)
Henry is Henry (unchanged)
Hill is an upgrade over Hooper
==========
OVERALL
2026 receivers are an improvement over 2025 receivers, especially with better blocking and improved QB play.
========
AS AN ASIDE
I'm not even sure that a 5th WR would be active in most games, especially if we draft a TE.

Boutte, Douglas, and Chism would be competing for a roster spot or two.
Feasible. Doubs was signed after Diggs wasn't retained. He replaces him. I agree with this. Speaking of TE really hope we take one in the 3rd or 4th round perhaps? We need to be adding younger more dynamic threats at TE as well. Great read!

With you there Zuma. Boutte should not be traded
Looking like something is up..

Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte missed the first day of the voluntary 2026 offseason program, with reports indicating he was in Miami. His absence from voluntary workouts comes amid trade speculation and a competitive receiver room, as he enters a crucial contract year following a 2025 season where he recorded 6 touchdowns. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
This video discusses the news of Kayshon Boutte's absence from the voluntary workouts:

• Voluntary Attendance: As these are voluntary sessions, his absence does not indicate a violation of team rules, but it has fueled speculation regarding his future with the team.
• Context: After a slow start in 2023, Boutte improved in 2024 (43 receptions) and 2025 (6 TDs, 16.7 yards per catch).
• Competition: The Patriots' roster is crowded with receivers, with rumors linking the team to potential additions like A.J. Brown.
• Background: In Jan 2024, Boutte faced legal issues regarding a gambling investigation during his time at LSU. [1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7]

Note: The results are based on reported, often speculative, news from April 2026.

Yes your right he wasn't there. He and Drake are close too. Surprising. He must want a mee contract or is hearing the rumors or his agent must know something. I believe he had to be told something by his agent or the team. I hope he's not moved..

Booty was the WR who showed up for the playoffs & SB fiasco. Remember his SB catch?

Part of what's at play here is that Roseman is very attuned to his reputation as a good trader. How will he explain the lack of a 2027 first rounder here after his posturing asking for a first and second?
Two ways - one, expect some 2028 compensation as part of the package, and secondly, expect a player as well. Once a player is included, then it becomes much harder to judge the value of the package.

We finally draft a WR that is productive, on a very cheap contract and is young. Gee...let's trade him....I hate it.

Yeah he's a good player who's gotten better every year. He makes tough catches in the perimeter, can go inside and willing to catch balls in traffic, and has played big in crucial games. He could be here with Drake for the next 10 years if he doesn't get too expensive.

I think the problem they are going to run into with Boutte is the gap between his numbers and his perceived value to the team. His numbers aren't flashy, but he's made big plays and played a valuable role for them. I think there is going to end up being a significant gap between the team's offer and the be his agent is going to want them to hit. I think the team is going to offer around 12 per, and Boutte is going to want around 20 per.

It's a misnomer to say their would be limited snaps for him if Brown is traded. Brown, Doubs and Boutte would be the 3 main WR's and they would share snaps in the slot. Remove Boutte and we rely on Douglas / Chism there.

I agree. However I'm a fan of talent.. the NFL cap steadily rises so Will players salaries accordingly. I hope Boutte doesn't get moved. He has a great connection with Drake & was top 5 in league in YPC last season. Hadn't he missed time with the hamstring he was on pace to see 1,000 yards or close to it.

I'm ok with moving Boutte if it's for a OT or edge player swap. I want nothing to do with him being a sweetener in a Brown trade.

I don’t know if it’s been asked yet, but would the NFL allow trading the 31st pick for future picks from Philly next year, then have those future picks being sent back after June 1st for AJ Brown?
