Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I wouldn't move anyone. Let them battle it out and whomever we don't need we can then think about moving. We have not had a legit wide receiver room since 07. Let's enjoy this possible luxury for a bit.
Pop is kind of useless though.

Yes sir!! I like Henry but we need a play making TE.. Just imagine with the recommittent to the LOS with being a smash mouth running team with the wr, and a dynamic TE.. this offense could become unstoppable.
Roush or Delp please.

Remaining on your feet is an underrated part of a skill set.
Turf monster.

Not an exaggeration that’s been 8 seasons since they had weapons to threaten teams in the passing game (still amazing they won it all in 2018 with Hogan & Dorsett outside).

Brown
Doubs
Boutte/Williams
Henry/day 2 rookie
Stevenson/Henderson

Easily their best group of pass catchers since 2017.

Don't mention that fact to the experts here. Vrabel is not setting up Maye for Failure: like what BB did to Mac Jones.

Again let me be clear regarding Boutte I was pimping him. He would be a Great Insurance for us this year: but I can see them signing Him to Big bucks if he has a Very Good year.
But you already said Maye is not Brady and needs things to be near perfect. I actually have no issue with getting value for players that almost certainly won't be here long term, but you don't make things perfect by trading one of his WRs. It has to be one or the other.

I was a little shocked when we went after Doubs because I see the same upside in Boutte. There's only one football for Brown - Doubs - Boutte - KW not to mention Barefoot.

What's so telling of how good AJ still is... is that amidst all the dysfunction in Philly last season he still was producing. Yes another consecutive 1,000 yard season. Recently the reports coming out regarding how hurts was ad libbing and going away from the game plan.

You could see it. Look at the talent on that offense and offensive line. Hurts is the problem.

Yep, he had 1k even in a down year. Admittedly some of the issues were on his end, saw some drops and might have quit on some routes but hopefully that improves somewhere that he is happy.

Maye with a true #1 will soar to new heights, pretty exciting for us if we get this done

I think we're far away from having everything else in place at this point in time.
I think our WR room is already stronger than a few others.
Are you talking about the AFC champs?
That's more feasible for us of course, but not for Philly.
You can justify letting go of Boutte if all you have to add to the deal is a 4th.
A first is likely to be an average or better starter on a good contract.
A fourth is likely to be a depth piece / developmental player.
Philly needs to get out of the AJ Brown business, they’re negotiating with a poor hand. Give them a good player and a 4th. We traded a 4th alone for Randy Moss.

He has clearly lost a step. He doesn't have the same burst he used to have. And he ain't a Moss type generational guy. If they pay anything more than a second, maybe a third then they are really stupid.

I agree on your trade return point but how can you differentiate between “lost a step” and simply a poor passing QB in Jalen Hurts?

Yes, the same team that gave up 29 points in the Super Bowl, and has lost a lot of pieces on D since then.

And above we see Philly still thinks they'll be getting a 1st.
And in the Dexter Lawrence thread I went through Barnwell's lastest piece.
That piece makes a strong point that trading 1sts for players closing in on their 30s needing new contracts is now a trend.
So, we shall see how much leverage we really have.

Dunno, based on what I saw last year he seemed to lack separation skills.

Gilliam can also catch the football while improving the run game. Definitely some serious possibilities with thus entire group.
