Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I believe pop would probably be the guy moved.. I think Boutte would be the guy we'd want to keep.. but then again eagles may want Boutte instead?

It's that kind of detail that the two GMs will be judged upon.

It's pretty clear Boutte is the better player vs Douglas.

It's pretty clear that getting Boutte over Douglas would give Howie Roseman something to hang his hat on.

Let's see how things play out.

It's the lull before the draft. Shefter has airwaves to fill, and so do all the other media figures downwind of him who republish his stuff to try to get clicks, but it's all sizzle and no bacon.

An "insider" who is inside nothing at all has "expectations" -- news flash!

AJ Brown is a good player, but also is a player with age, injury, salary and attitude concerns.
That's the concern in a nutshell.
His attitude stems from being underused and being in a poor pass offense. He’s joining the best deep ball passing QB and better passing offenses in the league.

Attitude is not an issue… the money is a lot but it’s just money and it’s not long term. The best time for a contending team to add a diva WR is after they have everything else in place.

He needs us more than we need him. Vrabel knows the guy, the guy loves Vrabel… this is not a very big concern.

We could also get a WR in this draft AND keep Boutte, instead of trading for Brown.

You make it sound like replacing Boutte is easy, while Polk and Baker show that it isn’t.
A lot here didn't think Boutte was capable of doing what he did last year. Some also thought before last season he wasn't even worth a PS spot. My my how the Boutte tides have turned.

I'm just going to treat this as a likely done deal and not expect a WR early in the draft.

Fine by me getting OT and edge days 1 and 2. Maybe a speed LB or TE.

I think we're far away from having everything else in place at this point in time.
I think our WR room is already stronger than a few others.

Send Boutte and a 4th round pick… deal done.
That's more feasible for us of course, but not for Philly.
You can justify letting go of Boutte if all you have to add to the deal is a 4th.
A first is likely to be an average or better starter on a good contract.
A fourth is likely to be a depth piece / developmental player.

I wouldn't move anyone. Let them battle it out and whomever we don't need we can then think about moving. We have not had a legit wide receiver room since 07. Let's enjoy this possible luxury for a bit.

Eagles fans are furious at any notion that this will be anything less than a 1st rounder.

They could be right. But I’m going to do some major dunking if they’re wrong.

But Boutte DID turn into a player, no matter what some people thought.

We definitely haven’t had a deep room. Had some good duos, Moss Welker through 09. Branc/Welker, Welker Lloyd, Edelman Cooks. But definitely haven’t had the depth.

True, but Philly is the one who NEEDS to trade Brown, Pats do not NEED Brown.

Pats have the leverage.

Oh I know but I don't see how we keep him if the dominoes fall the way they are now. We have Gozo's Massive Contract on the horizon with Maye's not far behind.

I been listening to their sports radio station all morning...Boston really did number on them last weekend. First the Celtics now the AJ news becoming more and more inevitable

This. I'm of the same opinion. And who knows better than anyone of what the 07 wr group was able to do none other than Vrabel who was on the team! However if Roseman remained bullish and wanted a wr I'm of the mind it's pop.. however as you mentioned try and keep everyone and allow the competition to bring out everyone's best.. look at Boutte last off season/ camp.. he rose and Bourne fell off.
