Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Negative. We need to keep Boutte. We like Boutte....lots of Boutte.
Hear me out regarding Boutte: I think we only have him for this year only Good year or not. We can't have so much $$$$$$$ tied up in WR's if he has Very Good year: that would be Three WR's on our Cap. We need a Rookie WR on a Four year deal to give us some time with that. So I think Boutte is now expendable.

Adding Boutte in addition to the 2 is just terrible asset management. If Wolf agrees to this he should be flamed on this board for being completely owned by Roseman.
See my response to Zuma.

I see your points and let me be clear that I’m not against trading him. I’m against adding him essentially as a sweetener in addition to the 2nd rounder.

That was Regular season Maye: post Season Maye was not very good.
Twin I believe alot of what happened to the offense in the postseason was the compromised left side of the OL.. a hurt W. Campbell compromised the functioning of the Line.. plus Bradbury couldn't hold up in the middle.. but i see your point.. now having that alpha on the outside makes it difficult for defenses to just sit out routes.

Zuma: I like Boutte too but I don't see where he gets playing time now. Brown - Doubs - KW: IF KW makes that jump Boutte is not getting playing time over him.

Also Diggs can't beat Double Teams aymore and H Henry is getting Very close to the TE's cliff.

I don't think KW is really a slot player...he would be a backup on the outside. Brown, Doubs and Boutte would "start" with one of them helping out in the slot with Douglas gone. Their are plenty of snaps there for all 3 with KW and Hollins backing up. The odd man out would be Chism.

Doubs is a upgrade trust me twin.. on/off the field.. the guys one of the best wr in the league at beating man coverage.. I want us a TE in the draft round 3!

Again let me be clear regarding Boutte I was pimping him. He would be a Great Insurance for us this year: but I can see them signing Him to Big bucks if he has a Very Good year.

I can see this... K Williams also lines up all over the formation. I can see him taking a slant 60 yards like he did in Tampa Bay.. I'm expecting big things from K. Williams.

Having AJ Brown in the SB would have made zero difference as by that point Maye had an injured shoulder and the line gave him no time.

You may be correct. However the OL had more to do with it. It was painfully obvious. Drake found Hollins for the deep ball TD in the superbowl so his shoulder was good enough to play.. he had no time whatsoever. Every QB needs time! Even ones who have 7 superbowls.

Just trust the process please.

All the hemming and hawing here, all the denials that Brown is a good player… it’s all going to look pretty silly when he is traded here in June.

AJ Brown is a good player, but also is a player with age, injury, salary and attitude concerns.

I'm all for Brown here, I don't want to give up a R1 for a guy with prob 2-3 years peak production.

That's the concern in a nutshell.

Both approaches have risks.

Late R1 player might not be impactful either in the short term, or even ever, but if the player is of starter caliber or better then that player is a bargain.

Brown almost certainly will be impactful, but probably not for very long, and definitely at a high price, with a contract that will probably out-live his usefulness.

IMO it feels too early in this team's development cycle to shift from building by adding younger cheaper players vs adding older expensive players.

However I'm fully prepared to see the team make a deal for Brown, and I hope other people are fully prepared to see Vrabel and Wolfe not make a deal on Brown.

That's because both paths of action have their merits.

You added Vera-Tucker when healthy easily an all pro caliber player. He will help stabilize the left side. With AJ open deep, and also AJ himself can run every route he is a beast in the red zone too.
