Patriots Player Departure Chaisson To The Commanders

The only word I heard implying that was he posted something like “I’m back” on instagram and people decided what that meant.
I don’t think we wanted him back
Other stuff I heard from people who would know definitely thought he was coming back.

Surprised he took another one year deal fourth Team in Four years.

The pats played with Chaisson, Jennings & Ponder most of the season. Even if Landry can’t recover I expect Jones, a rd 1-2 EDGE & Ponder to be a better unit than last year.

My take based on absolutely nothing substantial is that the Pats expect Landry to make a complete recovery.

I think they're definitely taking EDGE high in the draft (1 or 2) and that they might think that's enough.

That would be low key terrific news on landry. People forget how good he was for us before the injury

When a one year deal doesn’t lead to a big long term contract, most players are going to be skeptical if another year with the same team is going to lead to a different result.

I might be totally misremembering here, but wasn't there some reporting that his knee issue was a degenerative one and would need careful management?

No, he got bent in the Saints game and had offseason surgery. He should be back this season, even if it takes him a few to get up to speed.

Landry is a better overall player than Chaisson, Ponder has a world of potential… they can always add more, but the loss of Chaisson isn’t that bad.

Pretty obvious we’re trading our 2nd, 4th, Pop Douglas, a used Tom Brady jockstrap and Shawn Crable to Minnesota for Justin Jefferson and Greenard.
That 2nd rounder better be in 2028 because otherwise we’re getting fleeced; I could do a better job as the Pats GM!

Long-term, you're probably right, but it's a normal reaction considering what's on the roster to think it's kinda bad.

Thats about right for him. Guess they didnt think enough of him to make an offer.
Im a big believer in Ponder and im sure they'll get someone in the draft but they need someone else, maybe a Bosa type player or something like that.

Shawn Crable.

I still want the best OL possible at 31. Guard or Tackle, or even Center, if there's a real good prospect there (preferably with guard flexibility).

I wonder if there's interest in Cam Jordan. He's 37 and I don't know if he's toast but the stats don't suggest it. 10 sacks and a near elite run defense grade. They could put together a solid run defending d Line with him and Jones on the ends and then incorprate smaller quicker linebackers as pass rushers/designated pass rushers. Cashius Howell or R Mason Thomas for example.

I want the team to be in a place to take BPA.
