I'm right there with you. Who gives a crap? They don't get paid, there's 900 teams, most of the games are blowouts, and the playoff system is horrendous.

But when it comes to College Football, I can take it or leave it.

A big problem is that only 1 channel in the UK broadcasts it, at 1am!!!

Hence, I watch 1 NCAA game a season!

I don't hate it; I just don't watch it, period. I try sometimes if I have a personal interest in the game (BC big game; Charlie Weis or Pete Carroll on the sideline) but I never make it through a game. I couldn't care less about it. The only thing it puts a damper on is my knowledge for the draft, but I just can't bring myself to get interested.

I think maybe it's because East Coast college football historically blows in general. Haven't been exposed to a deep seeded college ball culture like in the midwest or south. At least I haven't. That's my take anyways.

I don't like the college bowl system. too much time off between the reg season and the bowl games and the fact that rankings are voted on dosen't do it for me. If the College game came up with some sort of playoff system, i would be a little bit more interested.

You are not missing anything out there in the UK. When football seasons starts, i hate Saturdays because all of the meaningless College games.
Who cares if Notre Dame plays some 'Univerisity of i-cant-find-this-on-the- map' team.

I use to hate NCAA football, but the more I watch the more I get into it, its a great learning tool, and only helps me understand the pro game overall

If you're into drafting and looking for new talent then
it may be interesting from that point of view.
If you have an alumnus of the college/Univ then there is interest form that
point of view.
Maybe If I got into drafting and looking for talent I would scan the
reports of who is making headlines and watch the team of those guys.
But just don't have that much extra time now.

The NFL depends on those 900 non paid teams for the quality product we
enjoy each week.

Same thing with me (NH), but I'll watch Cal because my son went there.

The bowl games were fun to me when there were the big 4 on New Years Day, then they added the Gator Bowl, then the Fiesta bowl, and it was still fine. But now, with the 30 or so bowl games, by New Years Day, I'm out. Lucky we have the Patriots or it would be 'when do pitchers and catchers report' by now.

I don't like college sports of any kind. I want to see the sports I like (baseball, football and to a lesser extent basketball) played by the people who are the best at the sport.

I find the college system confusing (I'm sure I could understand it if I wanted to but I don't) as there are seemlingly hundreds of teams...ranked, unranked, Big East, Big 10 and on and on and on. Plus, there's no rooting interest for me. Why should I follow a Florida team or Ohio or California?

But for all those who do like it, enjoy.

I have tried to get into College Football since I moved to Florida. I root for the school I attend, USF. The college game is OK but sometimes I get pissed off watching the games because the kids make so many stupid mistakes, so many turnovers. I know one thing, you really do come to appreciate how good the players in the NFL are after watching college ball.

I prefer the professional game by a a wide margin. Not to mention a better overtime and playoff system.

When I was growing up in MA I can't remember anyone giving a crap about college football, I think college hockey was more popular when the Beanpot rolled around every year. When I moved to New Orleans it became apparent how HUGE it is in SEC country, and even though I've taken classes at LSU and they are my "school" I guess, I really don't care about the game tonight. If they win, awesome I'll be happy for my friends but if they lose it will mean less to me than a regular season Bruins or Celtics loss.

Strategy in College football is secondary. You just need the best athletes most of the time. That's it in a nutshell. It's all recruiting......and it's all very slanted toowards the big guys.

Want proof?

Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, Pete Carroll, Lou Holtz, Bud Wilkinson, etc.

All good salesmen (great in the livingroom), lousy on the sidelines.

The only exception I can come up with is Jimmy Johnson. (Don't give me Switzer, he was driving Johnson's Lamborghini and screwed up much of the time).

That stuff works in college. Falls flat in the level playing field NFL, where football knowledge and coaching competence is primary.
