Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I expect the Pats to focus heavily on edge and OL in the draft. I think there is enough cap space to trade for Brown, sign a good vet LG and rotational pass rushing vet. If you combine that with drafting another edge or two, going quality tackle with one of the first two picks then I I would be very happy with the offseason.
I agree, if you are re-signing Chaisson, bringing back a healthy Landry AND signing a rotational pass rushing veteran.

There is great danger in counting on the draft for significant 2026 help at pash rusher. Sure, we might get a good player. Then again 31 quite possibly will be an OL and you are HOPING that 62 or 63 will produce an EDGE rusher who will contribute a lot in 2026.

CHOICE
1) Brown, sign rotational EDGE rusher
2) lower level WR, better EDGE rusher, plus a 3rd and 5th in the draft

No. He's expensive, and he's a bum.

I think the Patriots and Drake Maye need Oline help AND AJ Brown.
I do agree that the WR's need a man beating player, but WR's are way too overpriced these days. Brown is going to be 29 and only one year younger than when the Pats acquired Randy Moss. Antonio Brown was 31 when he was with the Pats and fell off a cliff by 32.
Simple question.

You must improve the offense. You can have either, but not both.

Who do you get, A.J.Brown, or Tyler Linderbaum?
Lindenbaum all day. Some posters here are missing that the Pats not only need to build an OL to protect Maye, but also help create holes for Henderson. Lindenbaum will be 26 years old and the Pats would have an elite C which we've undervalued for a long time.
Idk, I feel like one big play on offense *that results in a TD* could have changed the direction of the game. The problem is we made no plays at all until the game was basically over. Momentum is a real thing in sports and we didn't get a single thing going all game. That is demoralizing and Seattle eventually put the game away because of it.
Nah, AJ isn't that guy. Randy Moss was neutralized for the majority of SB42 because the OL wasn't ready for the heat the Giants put on. The 2025 Pats OL was one of the worst I've ever seen in a Super Bowl.

nmind, clip was already posted late to the party

Neither, thanks. I have explained my reason in other threads and do not want to retype it and I am not going to find the posts

My knee-jerk fan reaction is 'of course, get him. The more weapons the better for Maye'

But then the sensible side of me sinks in......

1.) Unless he agrees to a restructure, he would likely come with larger price tag (and receiver isn't our greatest need)
2.) We've already seen that he can be disgruntled even on a winning team
3.) He's not exactly a spring chicken

So all in all I don't think the risk is worth it. While names like AJ Brown are flashy, it's just like Mac Hollins that fly under the radar and end up being much better acquisitions.

I was pretty strong on the ‚Moss derailed Brady‘ train. So my tendency was against trading for him.
But after watching him on Dudes on Dudes I was a bit impressed/ better opinion than his rep.

If they could get him for a 4th (like Moss trade) or no more than a 3d; then it could be ok or even good with the experience Vrabes had with him before. I wouldn’t want to trade any top 2 round picks.

It does seem that some receivers struggled joining the Brady/BB system....think like Ocho Cinco and Joey Galloway.

But I recall BB saying Moss was the smartest receiver he's ever been around, so I guess that (and his natural athleticism) explains how he did so well even in his early days with Brady.

Moss was a different animal , he made Culppeper and Frerotte look like studs, and they were hardly that.
I hated when Brady gave up the "Open guy", to just chuck it up to Moss, even though it worked out for the most part.

Had someone on the defense made a play on the final drive of SB42, we're having a different conversation regarding Moss. Brady has come out and said he locked onto receivers he trusts. During the 2007 and 2009 seasons, Moss and Welker were his primary targets by a large margin. In 2011, Welker, Gronk and Hernandez were his trio getting over 100 targets. It later turned into Edelman and Gronk dominating the targets. Would we be saying that Brady locked onto them too much had they not won a Super Bowl?

Joey Galloway, Ocho Cinco, Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne were absolutely cooked by the time they joined the Pats.

Brown has wanted to be a Patriot from day one. I think it’s time to give him what he wants.

My red flag is that he has been a disgruntled distraction on a team that is winning and even got him a Super Bowl ring.

I can buy into a guy potentially 'falling in line' if he is going from a bad situation to a Super Bowl contender (ala Corey Dillon in 2004).

AJ Brown hates Vrabel
Hated, when he was a rookie, which is probably a feeling shared by many elite athletes that have never been held accountable. He should thank Vrabel for molding him into a professional.

Not sure we can say Vrabel molded him into a professional when he blatantly refused to follow Vrabels direction.

AJ Brown hates Vrabel

That is a misquote. I saw the podcast. He said he initially hated Vrabel, but now loves him. He said when he first came in he didn't get why Vrabel rode him, but after a while he got how he was doing it to make him a better player and Vrabel was right to been on him.

Vrabel is not going to trade a haul of draft picks for AJ Brown and he shouldn’t.
You get players when they are selling low not when they are at peak price.
If they could get him for their second rounder it makes sense but no more than that
But I think some team will give up more or Eagles will keep him

I don't think Brown is coming, but it certainly is a possibility, trading a 3rd and 4th and negotiating a new contract. If all parties are willing, then it is only a matter of price.

This is about as high as I would go, honestly.

If some team is desperate enough to trade first round picks for Brown, more power to them. The Patriots are not that desperate, and I don't think they're that stupid. The price in a trade drops every day he's still on the Eagles roster.

Well that depends on the situation. Are you close to being a serious SB contender or not for example. Are you already a SB contender? Overpaying is not ALWAYS a bad thing and it's often times necessary to get that final piece to the puzzle. Not saying brown is that piece, I'm just saying. In general.
