Excellent Insight Kudos Given
I have a list of things I'm working on through the offseason, with the first couple of things just added.
NEW "KUDOS" REACTION
One of the things I really wanted to address is the fact that we really don't do a great job of acknowledging quality posts, which is what this feature is meant to address.
There is now a "Kudos" Reaction next to the normal reaction group, which is essentially an added reward for high-quality posts, links, etc.
They're basically the following:
1) Quality OP - Recognizing a quality opening post that really helped spark an insightful and interesting discussion. This doesn't need to be lengthy, but simply something you found thought-provoking and helped create one of the better threads on the main page.
2) Excellent Insight - For a post that offers up insight that goes above and beyond, helping people have a better understanding of a given topic, as well as providing information that is unique and interesting.
3) Well-Researched - For a post that clearly took a lot of time to put together, and includes rich content, stats, information, etc., and is extremely informative.
4) Terrific Film Review - Fairly self-explanatory, and either includes your own screenshots, clips from X with your own unique take, or includes your own breakdown and look at a given game, etc.
5) Quality Link - For links that go beyond a normal link being shared, and include an article or topic that is incredibly interesting or really informative, which people view and find to be extremely insightful. It could also be a link to a resource or page that no one here has seen or is aware of.
Again, these are for those posts that really make you feel that a normal reaction just, on its own, doesn't do it justice. It's your way to reward someone when you come across something that you've found really interesting/helpful.
These are special, and you're limited to no more than 3 of these votes per day.
Once they're applied, this is what will happen:
The dominant category will be the one that will appear as highlighted once the thread becomes visible to the community. IE, If one person voted it "Extremely Insightful" and two people marked it "Well-Researched", "Well-Researched" will be what's visible. If it's one of each, one will be chosen at random until a tie is broken.
There will be banners that will appear under the profile of those who start to accumulate these votes. Again, these are to recognize the people who really put forth the effort and help provide quality insight to the community. As a result, they'll have a status added to their profile, and this is your way to help all of us both recognize and reward those individuals.
COMMUNITY HUB:
There's a new icon to the left of the inbox, which is meant to be a one-stop place for all future community features. That will also be where the notifications for these appear if someone recognizes one of your posts.
This will also be the new area for notifications for contests (NFL Picks Contest, Predict the Score, Sportsbook, etc.), games, and any future features. Rather than filling the top with icons, this will make things cleaner and more organized.
Some of the more useful resources here will also be organized and included in there, as well as other things coming, which I'll get into at a later date. But I wanted to at least roll the Kudos reaction out and make that available to everyone.
Obviously, if anyone has any questions, please let me know. But I'm excited to finally have something to recognize a lot of the great people within the community who make this place what it is. It's definitely well overdue.
