Patriots Rumor The pending UFA: who do we keep? Who walks?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Agreed. It's completely idiotic to do so and media is starting to catch on. They fact that he's even aware the team could opt out is interesting. The comments in the article are saying the same thing - pay cut or he gets cut.

If a team is willing to pay him within the range of $14-$16M (which I think will happen), let him walk. Pats need an upgrade at both Edges where him and Landry were awful setting it against the run game.
Totally logical... I tend to believe if Chaisson wants to stay here like he says he does it's between 8-10 mill.. now if someone wants to pay him more Absolutely he should take the loot... I was just saying to a delusion poster that Chaisson could see a Landry type deal or a maybe a little less.. he's not a double digit sacks guy.. those guys are 20 mill and up as we know... nonetheless Vrabel's not gonna play hardo with his guys on contracts he knows what they are worth and Chaisson is one of his guys... retaining him and adding some edge demons would allow Chaisson to be more effective.

Charlie Kolar may be a sneaky good one in FA. He’s become a hell of a blocker.
Hadn't heard that name. I have to look him up.. thank yoi for mentioning that...

Anyone got any linebackers they like in free agency?
Devin Lloyd - the guy the Pats should've drafted over the legend of Cole Strange. I'm guessing he gets tagged though.

Quincy Williams - is a fast east west LB and I've always liked him.

I would definitely like Tonga back and don't think he would cost much.
Jaylinn Hawkins if the price is right.
Vederian Lowe played much better this year but to be a swing tackle you would ideally play both sides and I don’t think he has ever played RT.
Thayer Munford depends on Lowe but doesn't really move the needle either way.
K’Lavon Chaisson I think may have played his way out of a value deal for next season. I wouldn't mind bringing him back and pairing him with an edge rusher in the first round but I don’t know if the front office will want to invest big money and a high pick at one position.
Austin Hooper time to move on. Get a younger guy in here that could take over the starting role from Henry by the end of the year.
Agreed. Lowe played both tackle spots in 2023. He can play both sides.. I truly dont think Lowe's value would be any higher outside of NE.. unless a team sees differently.. he has a shot to carve out at least a starting role at rt... no guarantee Moses returns he may retire? Just my opinion..

That's right I forgot he played there a couple years ago under Bill.

You misinterpreted what I said. I’m well aware we signed Moses before we drafted Bryant. That’s why I noted we signed Moses in FA.
I didn't misrepresent what you said. I went with how you said things.

Sure bud. I know what I meant, which is why I specifically noted we signed Moses in FA, which obviously starts before the draft. Last time replying to you on this.

Maybe use the right amounts for the guy you're comparing him to. You made the misinformed claim that Landy was 8M AAV. Not even close. Landry is 14.5M AAV.

Why should Chaisson take LESS than what Landry got??
You're also incorrect about what other guys who Chaisson outplayed are getting.

I listed out numerous players all making over 13M that Chaisson outplayed. And you still think that he's going to take 10M or less.

Lowe cannot play both sides. He's LT only. He's worse than Demontrey Jacobs at RT. Which is why they moved Onwenu out there in 2023.

That's the way I remember it. Lowe was not good on the right side.

Been buried in the Ravens depth chart for years. But they’ve developed him massively as a blocker.
That's good he's been developing on a team with a dominant ground game.. one thing is for sure next season the running game will be more of a force.. we need to get more push out the C position for sure.

Isn't Williams up there in age though??

He’ll be 32 this year. Hunter is already turning 32 himself. Need some youth at the position.
Cut all the 30+ players and we might be back to winning 4 games.
=======
I would be good to add TE as good as Hunter to the mix; I find it unlikely.

Yes, paying for a young upgrade to Hooper would make sense.

We could carry 3, including a draftee.

He's not very good, for starters.
You don't think that Hooper is good enough to be an inexpensive backup. I disagree.

That doesn't mean that Vrabel won't look for an upgrade as he will doat almost every position.

Diggs ain't staying on his current contract. If he stays here.
Diggs was signed to play for $21M a year. He has NOT decreased in value.

I expect his contract to be restructured, with the same compensation to Diggs. We could add a void year. Better, we could add an option year.

If the offer to Chaisson from the patriots is $8-$10M, his agent will be forced to show it to his client and his agent will likely ask for permission not to take any more calls from the team.
