Patriots Injury News Campbell Says He's Been Playing with a Torn Ligament in His Knee

You are absolutely right. There is no way lowe would come back here even for higher money if somewhere else they promise him starter opportunity.

I think he is grateful for the growth but also internally angry that they did not trust him enough over a rookie LT who was injured and playing like the worst LT across all teams.

If I were lowe I would not resign here.
Gimme a break. Lowe was criticized last year just like Campbell was this year. We're romanticizing how good lowe was based on facing bad competition

A lot of people seem to be missing an important part of the story here with Lowe. I agree he was fine against the Jets, Dolphins, Ravens, less so maybe in the second half against the Bills That doesn’t mean he was going to be better than an injured Campbell in the playoffs going against much higher level competition. Lowe is a complete mediocrity, maybe better under Marrone but still not great

I don’t believe for one second that Vrabel, McDaniels, and Marrone purposely handicapped the team because they felt sorry for Campbell or didn’t want that look regarding the 4th overall pick. That’s ragtime conspiracy crap for which Vrabel has provided zero (0) evidence.

Left side of the OL.as you perfectly stated was an issue all post season... need know for sure Campbell had no business playing on a torn ligament.. he was hurting the team not helping... Wilson also had like 2 concussions and that high ankle.. they were weaknesses on the OL as they were limited by injuries..

Lowe and Brown would have been better to have a go at it.. Lowe actually played decently..
Not to be snarky, but who cares if Lowe and Brown would have been better? That is water under the bridge. There will always be OL injuries.

It was not simply the left side of the OL. We got zero push in the running game with Bradbury. On the right side, Onwenu and Moses can't move. There are no screens due to Onwenu and Moses being so slow and immobile. We need to continue our overhaul.

It's amazing how many incredible football coaches we have in this forum. And not just coaches but NFL level coaches who all know better than Vrabel does, although that's not tough because Vrabel is such a ****ty coach. Looks like Kraft needs to change coaches again this offseason after the terrible job Vrabel did. Fortunately all Kraft needs to do is read Patsfans, he could put an entire staff together with the savant's in this forum.
The people clamouring for Lowe in hindsight are the same ones that wanted to run his ass out of town after last year.

Vrabel and Marrone know he is hurt. They see in Q1 he is getting pushed back on every play. Why they did not bring in a backup is a mystery unless they had no confidence at all in backups

It's almost like it's ok to change your mind on a player when they obviously improve?

Yep saw him say that. So now the issue is Wilson to center and find a LG? That would be easier to do in the draft as well. I now agree with Vrabel give the kid an offseason to work on getting better. He isn't even fully grown yet.
I personally believe that they had Wilson play guard all year to give him reps in the league without the responsibilities of center. Now in year 2 he has those reps under his belt, knows how to be a starter and prepare as a starter, and just has to focus on (re)-learning the extra responsibilities of being a center and spending some time in the gym getting a little stronger and working on his conditioning. If Wilson beats out Bradbury (and I would hope he can), they will cut Bradbury and let him catch on somewhere else.

Same for Campbell but he just has to focus on his strength and ability to handle power rushers. Pre-injury, he was able to handle guys who had speed and guys who had power but not guys who had a little (or a lot) of both. But that is not that crazy for a guy who is so young. He can absolutely improve his game in that regard with a couple of years of NFL conditioning. It's not like the DEs he was getting beat badly by were 22 year old rookies, they had had that time to develop their games.

So yeah, I think otherwise you go into the season that way, leave the right side the same but scout some potential tackle depth, and probably draft a left guard and sign a left guard and see how the chips fall. Worst case, Ben Brown starts, but hopefully you find a higher tier player.

He was certainly playing hurt since he returned from his injury. However, there is a lot of technique stuff that he needs to do better regardless of the injury. The thing about our line tipping the play before it happens is troubling and I assume Campbell is a part of that.

Pats need to continue to invest in the offensive line. It's unlikely they find someone to beat Campbell out since Left tackle might be one of the hardest positions to find. Everyone was frustrated with his play, but to me the answer is to expect development from him after his first year.

That's one of my big questions for next year. Do they see Wilson as the center or do they think Bradbury is better, and then what do they do with Wilson?

You're not being snarky at all. Seattle blatantly stated the plan was attack the left side of the OL..

Yes you need to be able to run against the good teams

They need a legit blocking tight end who can actually help

Maye's lack of pocket awareness didn't help. Some of those sacks were because he just held on too long. Why were there no designed runs for Maye? His shoulder was hurt, but AFAIK his legs were fine.

Then he shouldn't have been playing. Lowe did a more than adequate job filling in for him.
Then you should blame Vrabel one hundred percent.

Yeah yeah. I already knew this was coming. If he was too hurt to play anywhere near serviceable then he shouldn't have been out there. The coaching really let us down in the biggest game. Meanwhile their coaching finding tells on our OL lol.

That's one of my big questions for next year. Do they see Wilson as the center or do they think Bradbury is better, and then what do they do with Wilson?
I am pretty sure they think he is their future starting center but he wasn't ready to step right into the role year 1. But they still wanted to get him starting reps in the NFL, so they put him at guard. In year 2 they will be able to "level him up" to center which is his true position. Then they need to find a good starting left guard, who will be better than Wilson was at that spot. So improving two spots at once.

Campbell shut out one of the best pass rushers in football ( Nick Bonitto) in the AFC Championship game. No tackles, no pressures, no sacks. And they faced the 3 best defenses in football in their final 3 games.
