Patriots Injury News Campbell Says He's Been Playing with a Torn Ligament in His Knee

I think most people knew he wasn't 100%, but it obviously hurt them Sunday night.
It hurt them but the 14 pressures thing is pure B.S and horrific reporting. His real pressure rate was about 6-8 on 56 dropbacks against an elite front. Thats really not that bad. The full losses he had were BAD losses I won't disagree but it wasn't as bad as everyone said initially.

I saw the video posted of all the dropbacks, and you're right, it wasn't quite as bad as it seemed initially. His biggest issue is he relies so much on his footwork, which is why he was solid throughout the season before he got hurt. But it's tough because it just makes his margin for error that much smaller. Although, like any other player - and we saw it throughout Scarnecchia's time here - guys can develop, get stronger, and improve.

I'm sure he'll be a different player 2-3 seasons from now, and while he's not an elite left tackle, when healthy, he's still better than a lot of other guys at his position. I think it looked worse just because how badly Wilson got manhandled ... that was rough. He needs to get stronger this offseason, even if he does eventually end up playing center.

They better be very careful with this offensive line situation, the last thing you want this leaky line in the playoffs to continue against a harder schedule next year then all of a sudden your QB is banged up and then next thing you know is he's missing games and derailing seasons.

Learn from what has happened to Joe Burrow, the one way to derail the entire franchise and end up back at the bottom is getting your quarterback hit and hurt.

Im now waiting for Maye to come out and say that his shoulder was much worse than what was portraid
He's already said that it was sore from the AFC Championship Game but he won't need surgery and should be fine with some rest.

then the whole coaching staff needs to be fired lol
you saw him struggling mightily why didn't they just put someone else there? dont even say it was cause he was best option seeing how he was historically bad lmao
I get you don’t want to shoot the kids confidence long term.. but this is still the Super Bowl

historically bad/"the worst ever" was a monday morning media creation......

A lot of people have mentioned bringing Lowe back as a backup/insurance. This might point to how tough that is. If Lowe has any amount of professional pride (and if he doesn't why would you even want him?) then I don't see how he can't be fuming over this. The rookie was getting his ass absolutely handed to him for the whole playoffs and they still didn't put him in. Either they have zero confidence in Lowe whatsoever so they aren't willing to give him a fair shake of playing over the high draft pick if he's the better option. So if he has any dreams of actually being given the opportunity to compete for playing time I don't see how he would want to come back after this.

flip side:

Lowe was an abomination to the position himself before this year. (Maybe some of 24) I would think he’s appreciative of the development we’ve made with him here.

Forcing him back never made sense to me, and not benching him, even less. I can understand forcing someone like Gonzales or Gronk back, because they are so much better than any possible replacement but an injured Campbell at 60-70% is not better than 100% Lowe.

Playing an injured player that has been a liability and never considering replacing him is a coaching malpractice. Not only did they threw Campbell into a firepit and completely ruined his reputation by being the scapegoat every playoff game, they didn't give the team a chance to see whether Lowe could have improved the OL play. Maybe not but we'll never know, and we do know for a fact that the offense went from the second highest scoring offense in the regular season to historically bad (second lowest points per drive of any playoff team since 2000) and Campbell's play was a big reason why.

You are absolutely right. There is no way lowe would come back here even for higher money if somewhere else they promise him starter opportunity.

I think he is grateful for the growth but also internally angry that they did not trust him enough over a rookie LT who was injured and playing like the worst LT across all teams.

If I were lowe I would not resign here.
