I still really hope Viniateri gets in, but I’m not holding my breath.
*Bill Polian has entered the chat*

He gets in because he left Foxboro for Indy.

Can you imagine the ****storm if that happens? I really think that would be the death knell for the hall.
I doubt it. The groundswell for Brady will be greater than that for Kraft and Bill. But, not by a lot

I wish I were able to memoryhole stuff like this.

Like stealing money from the people of Hartford.
Like running Bill Parcells out of town because he knew better.
Like running Pete Carroll out of town because he set up a revolving door at his office for players to ***** and moan.
Like stepping in with Brady, when he actually had trade value, limiting long term success for short-term gains.
Like throwing Belichick and Brady under the bus for Deflategate and Spygate "for the good of the 32".
Like ruining the quality of football over the last decade, allowing the 2011 CBA to include a limitation to 8 padded practices a year, while adding games to the schedule.
Like Orchids of Asia.
Like hiring Jerod Mayo, letting him be his mole in Belichick's final two years, then hiring him as HC, even though he was woefully incapable of doing the job, because he went on a trip with him that one time.
Like not allowing Belichick to trade Mac Jones when he actually had value.
Like being at the bottom of the players rankings for ownership and facilities, when he owns the facility outright, and has made his money back on his investment 70 times over.
Like putting out "The Dynasty".
Like being in the bottom 5 teams in actual cash spending for 2 decades, despite being either the 2nd or 3rd valued franchise in the league.

I wish I could just memoryhole that stuff, but it's a blindspot I have, not just with Kraft, but for everything, I just can't forget this stuff.
But at least he's not in the Epstein Files ... 440 times!

The gates and jealousy are joined at the hip.

You expect other teams to accept that they were just not good enough?

No, it clearly had to be cheating.
Yup - the Pats clogged up the Super Bowl for the other AFC owners every other year and they welcomed any and every opportunity to dream up reasons to take away draft picks, suspend Brady, you name it.

None of it worked in the end - and now the Pats are back, and the cycle will continue.

If the price to be paid is Kraft and BB not getting in on the first ballot, so be it.

A fascinating point was made on one of the SB interviews. Forgive me for not recalling WHO said it…I think either Boomer Esiason or Florio. But someone posited that the whole “Cheaters” narrative may have grown roots back when the Patriots were perennially beating people and at end of season interviews when owners asked staffs “why can’t we beat the Patriots” staffs found it easier to say “they are cheating” than “because they are doing a better job than we are”.

Obvious, but I hadn’t considered it because as an exec myself if a leader told me the reason a competitor was consistently outperforming us was “that other company cheats or has X unfair advantage ” I’d fire them on the spot.
but pat bolen gets a pass for literally cheating the salary cap to win the lombardi... yeah, sounds fair

I'm sorry, but that POS Bill Polian being in the HOF and not Kraft or Belichick makes the HOF worthless.

No need to apologize. You're 100% correct. The warts on the HOF started with Jerruh being let in and then the continuous snub of Rodney for "character reasons" while RLKAG gets in really turned me off of the whole thing.

This ******** is just confirming that I was correct to care much more about the Pats HOF than whatever the **** they have going on in Ohio.

Parcells could have won a SB here with the team he built but Kraft's ego got in the way.
The future was bright for the late 90's Pats. Who would they have drafted in 1997, 1998 and 1999 had Parcells been in control? They were loaded as it was, so any hits in the draft was icing on the cake. The big question was could they get past Denver in 1997 and 1998 with Parcells? For me, it depends on the draft.
I still really hope Viniateri gets in, but I’m not holding my breath.
Seeing what Kickers have made it, Adam is a lock...eventually.

There was an old movie about all this...

Good hopefully Bob has a few drinks during the game on Sunday and when he’s handed the Super Bowl trophy he tells the HOF to kiss his ass.

The Jete have more members than the Pats?
  • I am not sure how the data behind the graphic was determined. Here is my quick list of players that spent most of their careers with the Jets and Pats that are in the HOF. Curtis Martin was painful.
  • Joe Namath (QB) – Inducted in 1985; led the Jets to Super Bowl III victory.
  • Don Maynard (WR) – Inducted in 1987; one of the NFL’s premier receivers in the 1960s.
  • Curtis Martin (RB) – Inducted in 2012; Jets' all-time leading rusher.
  • John Riggins (RB) – Inducted in 1992; played with the Jets from 1971–1975.
  • Kevin Mawae (C) – Inducted in 2019; played with the Jets from 1998–2005.
  • Joe Klecko (DE/DT) – Inducted in 2023; dominant defensive lineman for the Jets from 1977–1987.
  • Darrelle Revis - (CB)Inducted in 2023; All-Pro cornerback who played with the Jets from 2007–2012 and 2015–2016.
  • John Hannah (G, 1973–1985) – Inducted: 1991
  • Mike Haynes (CB, 1976–1982) – Inducted: 1997
  • Ty Law (CB, 1995–2004) – Inducted: 2019
  • Richard Seymour (DE, 2001–2008) – Inducted: 2022
  • Andre Tippett (LB, 1982–1993) – Inducted: 2008

Curtis Martin. Man that still pisses me off. And lead directly to the Robert Edwards unfortunate situation. Who knows what Edwards could have become but for a freak accident.

Pats make the playoffs in 1999 with Edwards. Terry Allen was better than nothing, but he was cooked. Even without Edwards, Adam V missed to game winning kicks that would've put them at 10-6.

As much as it sucks Parcells, BB, Martin and others left, it all led to getting BB back and the drafting of Tom Brady. Had they not had major injuries and poor personnel moves in the late 90's, Brady is playing elsewhere.

Tells you all you need to know how much of an incompetent buffoon Notorious Bobby Idiot Grier was.

He convinces Kraft not to resign Curtis because he isn't durable as he was hurt during 96 and missed time in 97. So what does he do? He drafts Robert Edwards who had knee issues at UGA and once he goes down signs Terry Allen who had two surgically repaired knees. With the exception of KFaulk none of the RBs he drafted could play.

Giving credit where it’s due, I think Pete Carroll had a fair amount of draft input and may have been the force behind drafting Faulk. We’ll never know.

But yes, Grier wasn’t great with offense other than one Terry Glenn…still a fav of mine despite how it ended.

Absolutely a butterfly effect situation

Absolutely a butterfly effect situation
Like I said, it's trading an outside chance that we might be able to win one with Parcells over the reality of just being the most successful franchise of this era.

In the end, his decisions were validated by the results. Anything else is guess work
