Kraft is cheap.
Also he sucks.

"The Dynasty" is why he didn't get in - petty-ass mother****er nakedly campaigning to get into the HoF.
I forgot to mention the documentary was a terrible look for Bob and I stopped watching after episode 3 or 4.

Just reading the tea leaves. Maybe BB was just as sick of Tom as the reverse. Tom was as much of a maniac as Bill. He always traded players early and Tommy was not going to be an exception.
So why would Lynch lie about Belichick ridiculing him when he asked for Brady?

Again, I'm not getting on you for your beliefs, I'm just asking anyone here to give a reading of what Lynch said when he called up to trade for Brady on 2 separate occasions separated by 8 months (February 2017 and October 2017).

Matt miller of bleacher report says John lynch said something. John lynch says John lynch said something else. You believe Matt miller of bleacher report.
Your opinion isn’t valid hear if that’s where it comes from.

No one close to BB has said he wanted to trade Brady. That’s a lie.
Yes, I mean, this isn't even a thing John Lynch was quoted as saying, John Lynch said it in a live interview which we can all see right now and it's coming out of the horse's mouth, and if he's lying, the man deserves an Oscar because he narrated the story and gave some emotional content!

No idea and don't really care which thing is the truth but doesn't pass the logic test.
More than 1 reporter with sources says otherwise. Seems weird for Lynch to say he's not supposed to talk about it and then just says he asked and was laughed off. Why is he not supposed to talk about that? Seems more to the story but really have no idea but to suggest there is no chance BB wanted to keep Young Jimmy G over 40-year-old Brady when BB publicly said he was concerned about Brady's age 3 years earlier.
#1. Because Lynch thought that perhaps it might be smarter to keep the conversation private rather than stir up a hornet's nest.

#2. Belchick publicly said he was concerned about Brady's age? Where did you see this. Kraft said Belichick had given him a study when Brady was 38 that showed the team should expect a dropoff. This is called being a good GM. The fact of the matter is that Lynch said Belichick rebuffed him 2x and ridiculed the idea of trading a 40 year old QB.
BB said he drafted Jimmy because Brady was 37, told Brady he drafted Jimmy because of Brady's age, told the media that. His whole plan was to draft Jimmy G to replace Brady when he aged out but somehow people think when it came time to decide on 40-year-old Brady he just was like, nope, I've completely changed my mind now, not even going to think it at all anymore. That seems a little unbelievable considering no QB played well past 40 and Jimmy G was the heir apparent. It's exactly the thing BB would do, trade Brady for multiple 1's, restock roster and have Jimmy G lead the next decade of winning.

FYI, the same reports said BB told 49ers Jimmy G was "off limits" and then BB was asked about Brady instead and said "What did you just ask me?" and blew it off yet he then traded Jimmy G. Was BB going to wait 1 more year and then replace Brady with Jimmy G and Kraft said trade Jimmy G? Probably closer to the truth there
This is called normal good GMing. This is exactly what a GM should have done when his QB is going to start the next season as a 38 year old. To NOT do this would be tantamount to GM malpractice.

Because he's always been about the optics for himself - this is what I don't like about him. I was skeptical during the "Harford move", but I had enough of him after he turtled during "Spygate". Rather than fight it, he pointed the finger at BB so Bob could deflect the blame.

It's quite odd so many posters defend this guy.
I agree. My only defense of Kraft is that he does not want to turn the Patriots into the Al Davis rebel Raiders. The consequences are too dire. But there needs to be a little more pushback to show he means business. Jerry Jones went berserk and sued the NFL when they went after him for cheating the salary cap (so odd too that when the Broncos cheated the salary cap, they were docked a 4th rounder -- the competitive advantage of cheating the salary cap is enormous compared to deflating a football).

I can understand Kraft's viewpoint there.

It's the other stuff that really drives me nuts about Kraft, the PR damage he does, the undermining of ALL his coaches during the season. He did it to Parcells, to Carroll and to Belichick 2x at the end of his career (w/ decisions regarding Guerrero and Mayo).

I recall Wickersham's ESPN stories reporting that BB was happy to have Brady be the QB as long as he wanted, as long as it was on his contract terms. He never wanted to commit to Brady into his mid 40s though like Brady wanted though. And he wanted to keep Jimmy G, even if on the franchise tag. Brady went to Kraft and demanded they either put their resources behind him or let him go. That's when Kraft stepped in and forced BB to choose one QB and put all their resources behind him.

BB thought Brady was a ticking time bomb and would decline like everyone else so he wanted to keep Jimmy G in prep for that. And yeah, he was willing to move on from Brady a year too early if needed, but the issue got forced way more than one year too early which is why he bit the bullet and dealt JimmyG when he did and refused to move Brady. That was always my understanding of it. The hurt feelings came because Brady couldn't believe BB wouldn't just commit to him for as long as he wanted to play after all they had done together. He thought he deserved special treatment and BB wouldn't budge on giving it to him.

If they are snubbing Belichick, why would they give a **** about that documentary.

Brady knew Bill wanted to go year to year with him. Which meant Brady retires on Bill's terms and not his own. Which Brady didn't want. Which is why he went to a team that would commit to more than one year.

You're assuming it's the same people.
It's the same club. If they strongly felt Bill mattered and should be in, there would have been strong advocacy for him. There wasn't and lot's of misgivings, The documentary isn't why Kraft isn't getting in. He's getting docked because of Patriots bias. Same way Bill is.

And there it is. Looks like the Bunny circus is the real reason why Bill is not a first ballot HOFer. Tbh... I had a feeling this was going to be a problem for him and the HOF. It's all about image and punishment for embarrassing the shield.

1. A hornets nest to ask if Brady was tradeable and to be told no?

2. This is just 100% fact, so many times its been reported and mentioned by Brady himself.

BB said it in press conference and told Brady directly, was in the Boston papers and in an interview with Brady when he left for Tampa

Coach Belichick referenced my age to me, referenced it to media. In my mind, I was thinking, 'What are you talking about?'" In "Man in the Arena," Tom Brady shares how he really felt about the Patriots drafting Jimmy Garoppolo

  • In response to BB talking about Brady's age: Brady expressed that he was taken aback, recalling, "In my mind, I was thinking, 'What are you talking about?'".
  • Belichick argued it was better to be "early than late" in addressing the quarterback position, noting that relying on a 37-year-old quarterback was not a sustainable long-term strategy, the Boston Herald reported.
Patriots were reported to have offered Jimmy G a 4 year deal with an escalator if he started instead of Brady during the contract. Jimmy G was the successor in BB's mind. I don't believe he was trading Brady that year but he would do it soon and if 49ers offered a ton of picks I think BB might have been swayed in the off season. You have to remember Jimmy G was traded IN SEASON, of course he wasn't trading Brady in season but was expecting Brady to decline in the short term and Jimmy G to take over and he'd have to trade Brady at some point to make that happen. Nobody is arguing what happened in season, doesn't mean if Jimmy G stayed that BB wasn't going to trade Brady in the off season. Perhaps that came up in discussion and is what Lynch won't talk about.

To reveal a private conversation

This is nothing but conjecture.

You would keep Jimmy G because he's an asset and a good backup should the starter get hurt.

It was also smart to sign Jimmy longterm but that doesn't mean they are getting rid of Brady.

This is smart planning.

Bud Grant is in the HoF…

The logic test?
The patriots won the SB in 2014. They were 10-0 before decimated by injuries in 2015 and lost the AFCCG. They won the Sb in 2016. Your “logic” is that point BB would trade his GOAT QB? Stupid not logic.

He had just won the SB coming back from down 28-3. Yeah logic says trade the bum.

There are ZERO credible reports that BB wanted to trade Brady. ZERO. To claim there are is a lie.

You think that it’s odd to draft a QB when your QB is 37? You think that when you do that you decide your QB is done in 3 years and ignite his play? You just put an expiration date on him, SB wins or not?

Brady kept JAG as long as he could as injury insurance.
AND HE TRADED HIM.

You are 100% full of crap.
