As I read through the AFCCG post it seems we've come to a much different place than the start of the season with all the acrimony. I'd also suggest that win or lose against Denver it's the end of the season. Lose is obvious but the Super Bowl is a completely different thing than Pre-Season, Season, or Play offs. It's just an almost exponentially different thing.

And then I saw @Real fan 02 post:

... I feel like this has been a magical season for them no matter what the outcome..

And thought maybe we all need to let it go. Many of the naysayers have come back and said in various forms "my bad, I was wrong". Let's let the welcher comments, reminders of previous posts, and all the rest of it go for all sides. Enjoy all the true masochistic Pats fans here for this "last game" and hopefully have a bunch of short term fans whose teams are out join us for the SB.

Well said.

I have admitted multiple times that I had them winning 9 games on the high end, and would be ecstatic with 11 and a playoff appearance. They have VASTLY over performed my wildest expectations.

I had them winning the first two games once they got in.

I don’t feel great about this game because of the pressures and how Maye has handled them recently.

But, as always, I’ll HAPPILY be proven wrong.

It’s all bonus now.

I’ve also never been more excited for an offseason, FA, and Draft season than this year because this group has proven VERY competent.

The previous two years were the worst of my fandom for different reasons.

‘23 because I knew Bill had lost his touch and let arrogance hurt the team…made me sad.

‘24 because…well we all watched the Mayo year and at no point did I have any faith he was competent.

Now?

The entire coaching staff AND personnel staff just seem to pull the right levers. Fun to watch.

This season is beyond my wildest expectations for this team, even at TC last summer could see the difference in this team as Vrabel was clearly in charge and the whole atmosphere was different... I believe I predicted between 7 - 9 wins for this team...
Superb coaching across the board + some very nice roster additions has led us to this point...
If Vrabel does not get COY then we will know the fix is in...

The year was a success. I think that's been obvious since like mid-season. I predicted 8 wins. What sort of silly ***** would I be if I were to whine now if they make it to the Super Bowl and come up short? Prior to the Denver game, a lot of commentators were saying what a catastrophic failure it would be if the team lost that game. What ungrateful horseshit. We are riding high, have been for some time, certainly vis-a-vis anybody's reasonable expectations - whatever happens in a couple weeks.

Great post.
Be grateful for the unexpected success and amnesty for all!!!
Clean slate starting today

Okay, but you're in charge of keeping our surrender monkeys out of the SB GDT
LOL, it's like I said in that game thread - I don't want them breaking with tradition and jinxing things. Stick with what got us here.

I had a conversation Saturday about being an atheist with sports superstitions and how hypocritical I feel at times. I do understand the not jinxing things but to be fair you're the landlord of this place. And it sucks that you have to evict people sometimes but the rest of the residents don't deserve having the equivalent of the few idiot families whose kids **** in the hallways. And there's some members here always ****ting in the hallways of the GDT.

What kind of tarded spam ******** is that? @Ian - can you open the airlock door and kick this spammer out.
Good catch. Also @Ian can you edit out the name of that business that was quoted so it doesn’t show for anyone? No publicity for spammers.

Edit - that was fast, thank you @patchick !

LOL, again, @patchick was all over it. It's been done. She's a machine today.

This button makes anyone annoying people in the game thread magically disappear:

And again, it's thread-specific, so it doesn't put anyone on an ignore list or anything people have to maintain. It mutes them only for that one thread. They're instantly gone for the remainder of the game and has no effect on any other part of the board.

But Mods don't get into having to police opinions, only situations where people engage in behavior that becomes a problem. That feature is probably one of the better things I've instituted, and it was actually done with the game thread in mind. It makes it a one-click feature that was intended to improve people's experiences, with their posts instantly disappearing after it's clicked. It allows people to only see and converse with the people they want to watch the game with, and it works well when people utilize it.

I get it, tricky middle ground. Would you mind if for the SB we created at Alt-GDT and see how it goes?

No, because we can't control who goes in/out of a thread and myself and the mods are focused on the game and hanging out with everybody.

The easiest way is to just tailor it to who you do/don't want to have in there. If you see a post/person who is ruining the experience, hit that button, and they'll instantly be gone (You'll see a 'Sssshhh" animation as their posts fade out). And again, it's only for that one thread, so it won't affect anything after the fact once it's closed and the postgame thread is opened.
