I see where your coming from but I view this point in time slightly different. Early in pre-season I thought if they are better than .500 they are moving in the right direction and this year would be a success to me. But as the season has gone on my expectations of this team has changed, the bar was set too low. I currently do not consider them in a "re-build" mode, what team is 14-3 and is rebuilding? They are team thats in it right now and like other good teams will look to be even better next year. I see a path they could travel to win it all, if 3-28 could happen so could this years Patriots rise from the ashes and capture glory. If they go out in the first round I cant help be disappointed to a degree because they have more than a punchers chance to make a run at. For me I cant worry about next year because who knows what may happen, I want them to seize the moment. They should never be satisfied, any athlete who is has nowhere to go but down.
I get it. It'll be disappointing, sure, if they lose. I'd love to see them win. But I said from the start of the year that if they made clear, solid progress in rebuilding the team this year, I'd call it a success, however many wins they had. I predicted eight wins, as I recall, and they nearly doubled that. I'd be kind of a hypocrite if I were to complain about a 14-win season, whatever they do in the playoffs. Maybe I was aiming a little low, but I was hardly alone in this. If they win on Sunday, I'll be happy. If they lose, there's no way I can honestly call the season anything but a success. We have our coach, we have our QB, we have the best OC in the league, and most of the free agent acquisitions were pretty much on the money. I just don't see how I can call that sort of season anything but a success.

I totally agree the season will go down as a huge success no matter the outcome in the post season. However, I still would be disappointed if they are one and done because its there for the taking for them and we just dont know how next year shakes out.

Yep, I get it.

If Spillane and Landry (and Landry is closer to his early season form) are back, I can live without Tonga. Although I want him back.
You recall how long he has been out now?

For me, gone are the days of LT and all that drama. I could see myself cheering for the Chargers if I did not like my Pats so much. Like Herbert a lot. Gutsy player, strives to win, low key and just wants to play ball and appreciates being in the NFL out there with the boys. Respect to him. Injury or not he will show up....

To kill some time leading up to Sunday here is a great interview with Daniel Rotman. He ran the SCOUTD website for years and was a big proponent of Maye pre-draft. It's an hour interview and I think worth a watch for all of it but if you want the Drake Maye stuff it starts around 18 minutes.
Couple tidbits:
-Maye score one of the highest ever for a QB on the NFL's AIQ test (Athletic Intelligence Quotient).
-Daboll/Giants and O' Connell/Vikings were willing to trade just about anything to go up and get Maye.
-He believes Maye is very far from his ceiling.
-He also points out how Mahomes and other top QB's have down years after the big contracts as the roster around him deteriorates. Maye is showing what he can do with a lesser roster this season already. He is roster proof.

Yeah I thought I hated the Chargers back in the day but it really was just classy Tomlinson and Merriman that I couldn't stand. Once they left so did my hate now I kinda like them and Herbert too.

I know he's a Colt/retired but felt the same about Rivers. Mad respect to him for playing on a torn ACL in that AFC Championship game.

Main thing you gotta worry about playing sick is the increased recovery time post-game. That's the bad part. Playing sports while sick is kinda weird, it actually took me out of my head and helped me lock-in lmao.
Irving Fryar in the 80’s played a game with the flu, he had a really good game, after he said he was so focused because he was sick and the only way to play was just just be so focused.

Do players take annual flu shots?

The same like anyone else; your choice.

Not sure what professions can mandate a flu shot. ICU drs and nurses likely. Other than that, it gets into hippa territory to even ask I think.

I'm not really concerned about that. Go and look at what the Pats did against "Weak O-lines". Pats had 4 sacks and another 11 pressures on the Raiders despite Kolto Miller playing. The Pats just put up 4 sacks with 8 additional pressures on Ewers. The Pats had 1 sack and 10 additional pressures on Brady Cook.

The Pats got 13 total pressures on Josh Allen in the 2nd game. They generated 11 pressures on Jaxson Dart.

With Milt Williams return, Cory Durden seeming to be breaking out, and the potential return of Spillane and Landry, this will be a better defensive team than what we saw from weeks 12-17.
Even at full strength the Defense sleep walks too much for my liking. They have been bailed out by the offense all year and i expect more of the same. I doubt the defense holds the chargers to 13 or 20 points like we did with the jets and fins. We need to win on offense against a very tough D.

As much as I like Barmore... Milton Williams makes him better and not vice versa. Even Tonga disappeared some after Milton Williams injury. Uncle Milt is that Guy: the Defense should be much better with Uncle Milt and Spillane back. That said our Offense can't take any Downs Off: Jim Harbaugh is a very good HC.

I would think that if an employee knowingly came to work with an illness, they could be subject to disciplinary action.

I would think that the players' union could negotiate whether flu shots should be required.

Being forced to work very closely with a person known to be sick might very well put a team at a liability.

Consider if we played a player (as we did Fryar in the past) and 3 key OL's couldn't play the next Sunday. I believe that opponent could have grounds to sue, especially if they lost a close game. The league might have the right to impose disciplinary action on the offending team.

Flu is brutal this season. In Amesbury no tests available anywhere last week. Stay healthy y’all especially those of you are on the Pats.

That’s kind of two separate issues. Obviously you want to contain the spread if someone is verifiably sick/flu.

As to the flu vaccine, it REDUCES your risk of catching, and makes affects milder if you do catch it, but once you have it….stay away from others.

Most good edge defenders are taken in first 10 picks. It's a safety or DT or linebacker or guard or RT. BPA amongst these 5 positions will be taken
Great post. 100% correct. Everyone interested in the draft should read it.

Dangnabit, I’m sure that’s what I typed. Clippy’s autodestruct must’ve slipped that one by me.

Ugh.
Yeah, I’ve been wondering lately if auto-correct is really worth it.
