Some of you old farts talking about Harbaugh like he needs help walking up a flight of stairs. He's 10 months older than his brother and no one questioned his age when he joined the Chargers.
And you seem to believe that coaches get better with age, especially after they 60 or even 70.
=========
Age is a factor for players.

Age is a factor for coaches.

I do think that the situation is that simple.
===============
To be more clear, if three coaches were 52 and 62 and 72 had the same resume, would you think that age is a factor?
===============
And for me, accepting a job for a playoff-ready team like the chargers is much different than accepting a job with TEN, CLE or the NYG. For me, age is even more a factor when a coach is basically starting a team from scratch.

If it's the Raiders, he will be facing his brother twice a season. Fun games to watch.

Better during the regular season than it was in the SB... Damn that was ****ing nauseating.

Jason Garrett is interviewing for Titans Job: I don't think anybody with a sound mind wants that job. Titans throwing $h!t at the wall and hoping something sticks??

Bears, Pats and Jags all had a talented QB in place. Raiders and Jets on the other hand...

I think recent times prove the "all we need is a game manager at QB" theory is as dead as a door knob.

If you're a coach wanting to keep your job, you need a top-16 QB or better.

If you have one and the team isn't winning, you can pull the old "fire the OC" move and survive for another off-season or more.

As Chris Carter said, you gotta have a fall guy!

I agree. Which is worse? HC at the Jets or Titans?

Poor Aaron Glenn was set up for failure.

Fresh start oughta fix that. Ravens chose Lamar over Harbaugh. Dumb.

Lamar has a contract whose terms are set by collective bargaining, Jim doesn't.

They're stuck with Lamar, just like MIA is stuck with Tua, and like CLE is super-stuck with Watson.

That's just where we're at.

I would guess Stefanski's the top choice of both.

Imagine Harbaugh on the Giants though. You go from Lamar Jackson to....Temu Lamar Jackson.

At a high level NYG looks like a nice landing spot, but the closer you look it they seem to have a "stars and scrubs" roster and ownership that favors having a ton of middle-management hangers-on that make it difficult to clean house. Also as you posted earlier, Jim has had the benefit of top-notch GMs behind the scenes feeding him talented players.

Part of me thinks Stephanski might want to do what Vrabel did: take a season off spending Haslem's money, spend the time figuring out exactly what you would do with the next gig, emerge in the next hiring cycle as a high-end candidate. I know it's a risk that the next gig might not come along, but he's in that window where he has to hit on his next chance because there won't be a 3rd bite of the apple.

Pretty much their MO. That org is definitely one to avoid.

Sorry but your "if" is pure nonsense. I'm speaking to the point that you seemed to think Harbaugh had no shot at job due to his age. I'm not a Harbaugh fan, he whines a bit too much for me. The League is parity built (parody as well) to have quick turnarounds as long as there are some competent components to the franchise as in any successful business.

I have been critical of Kraft in the past but I give sincere thanks that RK did not stick us with such situations.
Maybe he learned from his big contract to Drew just before BB traded him away. Or maybe he's lucky.
Thanks again to Kraft for moving on from Mayo to Vrabes ASAP.
After Brady left I was convinced I'd never see top quality Patriots teams again in my remaining geezer years.

John Harbaugh to Miami after this McDaniel news?
