Bad weather might hurt us more. We arent the old 2000's patriots preferring the muddied up cold weather for our D. We need to win on offense.
It's harder for a defensive player to react to someone moving with the ball when the ground is slippery. Advantage Offense.

I think the defense lets us down in a big way this weekend. I don't think we will be able to put as much pressure on Herbert as needed, Herbert is a good QB and won't miss lay ups like many of the QBs we have played. This is all assuming that we stick with zone, but I am really hoping that they come out press man and run it a lot.

The Chargers have a good defense, but I am sure that McD and Maye can overcome Minters defense.

I hope that I am wrong but I see chargers winning 28-24.

The outcome of this game does not change that this season has been a huge success.

I also think there is a case to be made for Herbert as MVP
The only way that happens is if there is another screw job by the refs

Someone I was listening to mentioned that we very rarely get pressure with just our front four. But if we start blitzing, it makes it harder on our defensive backs, especially those covering TEs and RBs. So, I'm not feeling overwhelmingly optimistic about our chances to exploit a beat up line.
Barmore and Williams and Durden need to collapse the pocket. That is all we need.

Williams, Barmore and Tonga / Durden / Whoever is the key. The offense can score 30-ish points a game but the D will need to hold the fort. Stop the run and I like our chances against anyone.

Our Defense is what it is. Plays hard but lot of times is outmatched does too much .like giving up a 3rd and 17 right through the middle in a screen or the TD right through the middle like in the giants game. They will give the other team a lot of chances to move the ball and score. I also dont know if we are game plan defense like the yester years. Seems more of a constant scheme. I could be wrong.
Only way to put pressure on the other team is to put points

Landry practicing is good.

This is not good: “Moses, Lowe, Bradbury, and Jennings are absent due to illness, per Vrabel.”
OK, the OL has the flu. They should be OK by Sunday night.

Yes, we need to stop the run, keep Herbert in the packet, and let the secondary win the game.

That being said, we need to have some health from Williams, Tonga, Duden, AND Spillane.

We also need to have a pass rusher of two healthy: Chaisson, Landry and Jennings.
============
I suppose that we can count on Maye being Superman in the 4th quarter, or much better in the first.

Maye and our DL will win the game

They are ready to go

Negative. We will take the lead early and will not relent until the whistle blows. No need for a dramatic 4th QTR comeback.

Everyone has the flu rn. Not a really bad one. I've had three this year and the one making rounds rn is weak. Extremely contagious, though.

****ing brutal. Just hit us. I'm over it but the wife is down for the count now.

If the Pats can’t get pressure against this OL then it will shine a bright spotlight on where they should focus adding talent this offseason.

The flu strain is brutal this year. I know lots of people who were out a week and still struggling when they came back.

I have real concerns about the patriots defense and their zone heavy scheme. 3 man cover corners and they are playing zone. This is a problem. Herbert will rip apart zone coverage.

Chargers defense is physical, stops the run, and stops the pass. Not sure the patriots will be able to move the ball on them.

I hope the patriots win, but I dont think it is the layup everyone is saying it is.

Chargers can absolutely win on Sunday. They have a tough defense. Defense travels. They have been taking away the big play all season. The weather won't be a factor. It's been cold in LA this week. Offense won't need to put up 30 to win. Herbert is due for a playoff win. West to east is not an issue either with it being a night game.

Herberts hand should be healed up. That was the biggest factor in the decision to play Lance. No issues with the hand moving forward.

Another factor is the Chargers don't really have a home field. Opposing teams fans fill that stadium up. They are very proficient in the silient snap count.

Everything is pointing to a close game and a Chargers win. Herbert is due. The league will most likely push the game in that direction if needed.
You said Chargers have a tough defense.Ok.
Chargers defense # 9 in nfl.
Patriots defense # 4 in nfl.
And Patriots played w/o multiple defensive starters most of season, including their best defender this year, Milton Williams. One of the very best dt's in the nfl. He's back.
Patriots defense > Chargers defense.
Maye> Herbert.
Both of those are not arguable.
All playoff games are tough.
I like the Patriots chances. You wanna bet me on the game?

Not betting on the game, but we need to look at the offenses that the Pats have beat up on to get to #4. I appreciate the optimism but they have played against maybe 2-3 good QBs this year. So to say the Pats D is better and its not arguable is quite a bold statement.

There is always context behind stats and you are only telling part of the story if you ignore context.

You can only play who's on your schedule.
