And I say negativo. You're basing your theory on Pop being limited, however he was a full participant today at practice. Pop will have to be out in order for Chism to pass him on the depth chart. 2026 season? Maybe. No can do for this season.
No idea what you mean. Playing time (snap count) determines the depth chart. If the snap count total of 41 for Chism to 9 for Douglas continues than Chism has passed Douglas on the depth chart.

Fair enough...

Your argument is that Chism may pass Pop on the depth chart due to his recent hamstring injury. What I'm saying here is Pop is no longer injured....not hurt. Meaning he is healthy according to the injury report today.

What I'm trying to convey here is that Pop would need to be Out / No playing in order for Chism to take his spot on the WR depth chart.

Wolf personally picked Polk, so I am not sure how great of a scout he is.
I go back to the offseason Wolf saying he's glad Vrabel came in and helped him fix things.. I'm sure Wolf is a intelligent football guy as he's been around it for. Large part of his life.. however the turnaround doesn't happen if Vrabel wasn't hired.

You have to determine the depth chart by some metric. I like playing time as the metric, but Diggs is WR #1 and Hollins consistently has more snaps, so maybe the metric should be average receptions per game or total receiving yards. I might look at playing time more, you might look at total receiving yards more?

KC's receiving core includes Smith-Schuster and Thornton. That is a lousy group after #1 and #2 and is part of the reason that the Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago. Who cares about the Chiefs' WR core?
I apologize for mentioning a different team than the patriots. I should have labelled the post off topic and go back to discussing 2001.

sure, as long as both are healthy

I guess that makes Belichick a terrible GM, because he called Maye the worst pocket passer out of the top 6 quarterbacks, and pissed on the pick when it happened. The one thing that is certain is that he NEVER would have taken Drake Maye,
We've been through this already. You totally misrepresented what he said the last time. Also on the Belichick thread. I have you down as a Belichick hater. What Belichick said about him was 100% accurate. AND he didn't piss on the pick at all. If pissing on the pick is saying, "Maye has amazing accuracy. He can make every throw on the football field. He's big strong and athletic." This is what Belichick said. He also said he's the worst pocket passer of the top QBs, said he has poor footwork in the pocket and he bails way too quickly on routes. This is called criticism. Maybe if he had more time he could've pointed out that Maye is relatively young and could learn, but instead he put it this way, "Unlike some of the others (Penix, Daniels, Nix esp) he hasn't had as much experience or played as much." Why twist what Belichick said?

Douglas is injured. I saw him grab his hamstring in the Ravens game.

I don’t know about Wolf. Who’s to say that Vrabel and Cowden weren’t the main decision makers when it came to the 2025 draft and 2025 free agency. Cowden is Vrabel’s guy. I’d like to see the Pat’s move away from Belichick’s personnel guys. But I guess if Vrabel and Cowden are ok with it, I’ll trust their judgement.

Once again, ********. I watched it as it happened. You can make all the excuses you want but there is no way Belichick would have used the #3 pick on a guy he called " the worst pocket passer of the top 6 quarterbacks. And if calling Belichick the GOAT and saying he did a poor job after Brady left makes me a hater then so be it. Now go back to bed, signbabybrady is waiting for you.

I haven’t read any piece that concretely explains what Wolf vs Groh vs Cowden vs Vrabel vs Highsmith actually do as far as getting personnel. Any attempt from me to explain it wouldn’t be worth **** because I’d be making things up. What I can say is that they were about as close to perfect as you could be last offseason so I hope everyone comes back with their roles untouched for as long as we can hold it together or until the results prove fluky.

The video is there for anyone to see. Who cares what you think you watched. Anyone can spool it up on youtube.

Well said... but it will be hard. Cowden will eventually get offers to be poached. Hopefully Kraft can get him a cushy title and a fat paycheck to stick around. Highsmith will probably float off to some other pasture after a few years, but that is kinda his thing, and that's probably OK. As long as they can keep Vrabel-Wolf-Cowden together, I think they will keep getting results. Stretch too, but I really don't think he is going anywhere as long as Vrabel is here.

One other guy to mention is Jeremy Springer, who we don't talk about from a personnel standpoint much, but I believe has a sizeable input on the special teams contributions aspect of draft selections/UDFA choices. He was their point person on that front for the Rams as the Asst. Special Teams Coordinator before coming to NE, and you can see how their special teams have started to crack there since he's been gone; conversely, NE has done pretty well there.

I heard something about how Vrabel has talked about really wanting to develop coaches and understands that some are going to leave to pursue upward movement of their careers. I suspect the same applies to his personnel department, as well.

That said, if it came down to a choice between keeping Cowden and Wolf, I suspect I know who Vrabel would choose.

Cowden will get promoted first.

This whole thing is set up for Wolf to get 'poached'. Thanks to Bert Breer for his usual "reporting".

Another sign you're not a kid anymore, you can remember when he was ALbert Breer and was actually credible

Well he used to talk to people with the Patriots other than Elliot Wolf, too.

Who knows the truth.

Could definitely see a scenario where Wolf saw Mayo yanked after a year and realized if he didn't want to be fired and find himself auditioning for a job with the Jets that he started from an absolutely deferential standpoint to whatever Vrabel wanted.

Or he was of this mindset of working with the coach all along and got guys that Mayo liked who have yet to or may never pan out.
