No. Thats just not correct.

The guy catch 12 passes on 33 targets. Whenever he went down the field, it was an incompletion except for one 21 yard pass. The only thing he could catch was the short targets.

He wasn’t a deep threat.

He wasn’t a deep threat.

He caught 12 balls. He wasn't a deep threat. Because he wasn't a threat at all.

They used him as the X and had him run outside routes down the field. You cannot deny he was the X. And the X receiver is the down the field receiver. He isn't a possession receiver. That is the Z.

He wasn't a deep threat because he isn't a fast receiver even though they tried to use him that way.

BTW, Ironically they used Boutte as the Z and now the Pats use him as the X and he is producing better as the X receiver than he did as the Z.

Xavier Worthy # 28
Ricky Piersall # 31
Xavier Legette # 32
Keon Coleman # 33

Then McConkey

Wolf let this happen because he didn't evaluate other teams needs or where the draft was going.

That's what a bad GM does.
Last draft our brain trust maneuvered the draft masterfully, getting in the front of position runs and still acquiring assets.

They maximized the pick they got for Matt Judon, turning it into Jared Wilson, Bradyn Swinson, and the Bears’ 2026 4th round pick.

Reports were that the Pats were trying to trade up its Buffalo and targeting Keion Coleman. The same Keion Coleman disappointing in Buffalo.

I will say that Shuster-Smith was a washout here but was useable in KC.
Smith-Schuster has 30 receptions for 300 yards and 1 TD. We can pick up a JAG off his couch to duplicate that. Douglas has 30 receptions for 400 yards and 3 TDs, and Douglas is our #4, maybe #5 going forward, WR?

This narrative that Smith-Schuster is useable or average is not correct.

Are you suggesting that Smith-Schuster was comparable to Douglas but no worth keeping as a #5 or #6?

If you include Williams, Douglas is #5. Right now Chism might be ahead of Douglas based on the Jets game. If Douglas is #6, then Smith-Schuster is #7. I don't think we need Smith-Schuster as a #6 or #7. Better off having an UDFA on the practice squad.

I don't see it this way. There was a clear consensus on any of the top 3. The others were actually mocked by the mock draft database (i.e. the mock of mocks) way lower down the first round than they were selected.

The thought of a GM passing on a Drake Maye to select Penix or McCarthy would be career suicide. These guys are highly paid and they like their salaries. They would not torpedo their careers.

I've never seen it happen anyway.

To say you drafted Drake Maye and he busted? That's defensible. To say you passed on Drake Maye and the guy who you selected busted? You should never be allowed to work for an NFL team ever again.

I said this exact same thing before that draft, BTW.

I guess that makes Belichick a terrible GM, because he called Maye the worst pocket passer out of the top 6 quarterbacks, and pissed on the pick when it happened. The one thing that is certain is that he NEVER would have taken Drake Maye,

Can you link to those reports . I follow the draft very closely and it's the first mention I have ever heard of that.

fair enough

At the start of the season, Shuster would have been competing for #4 playing time with Douglas.

As it turned out, we were and are better off without him. We have 6 WR's for 2026.
======
He was and is good enough to be a #4 or #5 for KC.

I think it was something I heard during the draft possibly a podcast?

It was during the draft.

The gist was that the Pats were looking to trade for Buffalo’s first puck, but the Bills were interested in the same player.

Pats dodged a bullet there.

Let Buffalo gave him.

I don't think you can hold a rumor on a podcast against Wolf. Had he picked Keion Coleman you could, but internet rumors. As I have said repeatedly he gets the blame for the bad draft because he had final say, but he gets credit for Maye no matter how hard the douchebag haters try to deny it:

KC's receiving core includes Smith-Schuster and Thornton. That is a lousy group after #1 and #2 and is part of the reason that the Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago. Who cares about the Chiefs' WR core?

I'm not a huge Douglas fan but c'mon...Chism with 2 career NFL receptions is ahead of Douglas on the depth chart? You're messing with someone here....have to be...or it's a New Year mulligan.

I said "based on the Jets game". Did you look at the Patriots players playing time "in the Jets game" for Douglas and Chism?

Chism 41 snaps
Diggs 34 snaps
Douglas 9 snaps

I said Chism "might be ahead" of Douglas because Douglas might be limited due to an injury.

Douglas is my most disappointing player. I thought this guy had some talent and would take his game to another level by now. But once posters told me about his tripping, you can't unsee it.

And I say negativo. You're basing your theory on Pop being limited, however he was a full participant today at practice. Pop will have to be out in order for Chism to pass him on the depth chart. 2026 season? Maybe. No can do for this season.

Pop Douglas is not proficient at getting open in soft zones over the middle. I don't think his mind works that way. He thinks he's a X or Z and wants to run deeper routes. This can create mismatches...we have seen some of that lately with the X bringing the DB short over the middle while Pop goes deep. This is not really a McDaniels way of doing things with a slot receiver...but he's making it work.
