I mentioned the Barmore of 2023 got through double teams and got to the QB.. again here. I like Barmore I'm only criticism of his play this season he's been on the field if a player is out there they are healthy enough to play right?

Again Tommy I'm cognizant that Barmore has been through something very serious. Only criticism is his play not the man.

I want to preface by saying that I didn't think Barmore was ever going to play again after his blood clot diagnosis. But since he's returned, he's clearly not the same player he once was. There's no hating there.

In 2023, there was no threat of Judon along the edge after week 4 and the secondary was garbage. Everyone knew Barmore was the only threat, yet he still found a way to get to the QB. Barmore had a career high 8.5 sacks in only 15 games. Only 1 of those sacks was when Judon was playing. He also had 13 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits and 6 passes defended for that season. In the last 18 games, he's had a whopping 2 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 8 QB hits and 0 passes defensed. His production has taken a complete nose dive with a better overall supporting cast. What's even worse, the majority of his current production was with Milton Williams in the lineup along with Landry/Chaisson on the edge, Gonzalez/Davis at CB, Spillane at LB.

While his contract for 2025 and 2026 are manageable, it's 2027 where he starts to creep into the top 10 of both cash and cap hits. Meanwhile, Williams' cash and cap hits are top 3 for DT's for the next 4 years. That's another reason why it doesn't make sense to pay two very high contracts with not much to show for it so far.

I know you folks think that cap is crap, but it's not. MIA needs to wait a year to cut Tua, even if he is a backup next year. I suppose a restructure and trade is possible, but that would screw them for many more years.

Spot on!very sensible and logical. Although not complete the roster is much better than it's been in the last few years..

We NEED for Barmore to be a factor. Could it be He's not 100% ?? With Williams out im expecting him to step up?

That's the hit an organization takes whenever they decide to pay a QB.. with the QB salaries continuing to climb.. Drake will probably see 60 million when he's up..

I don't know that he's eligible for a restructure yet. He just signed that thing.

They're not going to tank enough to get a top QB, which raises the question of who is better than Tua that they're going to be able to get for next year. And if there isn't anyone, do they just plan to truly tank next season to get a high pick?

You kinda answer your own question in the following:

Isn't this essentially the same as the end of Russell Wilson and his Denver contract? Miami will probably just have to suck it up, cut players, and get a very cheap QB and start again. So maybe ride with McDaniels again next year knowing that none of it matters, and basically tank for 2027?

MIA is really in the DEN situation. They've seen enough to know Tua isn't the guy, regardless of what he is being paid. You're not going to be good with him, so you really have no choice but cutting your losses and keep drafting QBs with whatever draft capital you have. You also need a coach like Sean Payton who can coach up a QB like Bo Nix or Shanahan with Brock Purdy and even Mac Jones. I guess we find out if Mike McDaniel is the man for the job.
