With the Chiefs Eliminated

Walking doesn't mean much here; Brady walked off under his own power after tearing his ACL.
Schefter also just reported Mahomes tore his ACL. So yeah, he's done for the season. So if you want to get technical, he technically isn't playing a game where his team is officially eliminated. That said, the one season Brady got injured, his team did make the playoffs. So it's still a sort of dubious technicality.

But there are going to be people who will say "Mahomes led them into field goal range to tie up the game and keep the season alive and the back up threw an INT when they were in field goal range to end it".

I really liked 2009, 2010, AND 2011 drafts.

2009 was very meh. Chung and Edelman which was sheer dumb luck.

2012 and 2013 were excellent though.

It's 2014 when it all went to hell and *never* recovered.

The Chiefs are at the crossroads NE was at in 2010. Had NE not drafted Gronk, they weren't going to win another Super Bowl. Chiefs need to find their "Gronk".
Chiefs have been needing to reload for awhile. Spags was a miracle worker making that defense mask how flawed the offense was. But that wasn't going to last forever. This is an interesting time now that it seems the rest of that division has caught up and the Chiefs need to answer some questions.

The Patriots did not make the playoffs the season Brady got injured. Famously so due to a bizarre tie breaking scenario and a hilariously bad AFC West messing up the standings.

The dirty secret of the 2008 season is that the Pats couldn't beat a single good team except the Cardinals who literally didn't bother to try when they found out it was snowing.

Confirmed that Mahomie got Pollarded and tore his ACL. Gonna hurt them next season too.

2009 was really bad. They had 12 picks and they didn't get returns aside from Vollmer until 2013 with Edelman being pure luck. Edelman has even said the Pats kept drafting guys to get rid of him. Trading down and taking Chung in the 2nd round was terrible with Clay Mathews being a perfect fit at OLB.

2010 was arguably their best draft and the catalyst for the 2nd dynasty. It would've been no contest had they draft the obvious Carlos Dunlap over Jermaine Cunningham. Absolutely bizarre decision making.

2011 was okay.

2012 1st rounders and 2013 Jamie Collins were the last impact players.

With all that said, they aren't winning another Super Bowl had they not drafted Gronk because I don't think Tom would've stayed past 2015.

He could have torn his PCL and not just his ACL. A PCL injury can be even career threatening. I hope not, but him missing next year isn't out of the question until we hear about what the injury is.
It's being reported as an ACL. Agreed, I hope he's ok

If Athomes doesn’t start another game this year wouldn’t that mean he still hasn’t started a game with team eliminated?
I was calling out the technicality.

It's likely too early to have had an MRI. An ACL tear can be diagnosed in literally seconds with a physical test. The damage to other parts of the knee won't be seen until the swelling subsides and the MRI can be done.

I'm quite shocked Andy Reid has neglected the RB position and/or can't draft anyone when he had Deuce Staley and then Brian Westbrook in Philly. He's always had crap WR's aside from the Owen trade in Philly and drafting Tyrek Hill in KC. Kelce has been their star player at TE for many years. They desperately need to find an impact player on offense that will be their next Kelce/Hill.

The talent pool is so bad, it seems like a really tough task.

Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon were important pieces.
Harmon made some clutch INT's, but he was okay.

Ryan was also just a serviceable CB who was easily replaced.

But these guys wouldn't even be in position to make those plays had Gronk been drafted elsewhere. It would've been the 2006 and 2013 offense that just wouldn't have been enough.

You're right, I keep ****ing forgetting because everyone retroactively acts like that was some incredibly successful season to show how Brady supposedly isn't that good

Matt Cassel just missed the playoffs on tiebreakers. However, you can say that once Brady became a starter, his teams were never out of playoff contention, even when he wasn't playing.

With Brady that team goes 15-1, I 100% believe it.

The 1 is the first Miami game where the defense quite literally had *zero* idea how to stop the Wild Cat.

Maybe this portion of the dynasty is done. How they find a RB, TE, legit #1 WR, and pass rush will determine if there is a dynasty 2.0. And even getting those players does not guarantee anything.

I definitely think they will rebound next season. I don't believe this year will be a blemish on Mahomes career.

No they aren't. Mahomes is washed and just tore his ACL. Good luck with that. Oh and Reid is probably done or close to it. Kelce I am sure hangs it up after this season. And it wasn't just get a Gronk, Brady leveled up.

Agreed.

Chargers, Colts, & Jets are wins at minimum.

Cassell did good. But there was a huge drop-off in QB play.

Big question is do the Steelers get to, and win the SB that year without an injured Brady?
