NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 12 Sunday Games Thread

We disagree.

Yes there was one tie this year. According to chat GPT there average 12 over time games a year (past ten years) and there have been less than 10 total that ended in a tie during those ten years. In other words there's a slim chance of ties happening.

Meanwhile comparing it to the rest of the game, Denver marched down field in about 4 plays for a TD to begin OT. Denver's signature for this season has been the type of game winning drive they would be facing, In the scope of things this time it was pretty easy considering what small amount of yards likely needed, what the offense had just shown, and what they were willing to give up (any sensible situation and they would be go for it on 4th down).

But you are doing the same thing you are accusing me of.

How many overtime games are there where both teams scored a TD in overtime and it is sudden death? My guess is most overtime games never go beyond both teams getting their mandatory one possession each. One team outscores the other team on their first possessions. It is rare that both teams score a TD in overtime and it is sudden death with less than 3 minutes left. If you can find that information, I bet it is as rare as teams tying in overtime.

Not every overtime game is the same. You cannot compare last nights game with an overtime game where the team with the first possession gets a field goal and the other team wins with a TD or the first team scores and the other team fails to respond etc.

Compare that to last year when Drake never threw a receiver under the bus, even when we suspected that was where the problem was.
fair enough

Rodgers is Rodgers. A win would have all but guaranteed his team a playoff spot. He obviously was very frustrated, especially since this is his last or next to the last chance to make the playoffs.
===========
Some QB's just simply say it's their fault when someone made else a major error. Also, Drake was on a totally hopeless team last year. It is relatively easy to be gracious when your team is one of the worst or one of the best in the conference.

I watched some Steelers games this year and Rodgers is the problem. He will probably finish the year with halfway decent stats but he is washed. He is completely afraid of contact and throws bails on a play if he thinks he is going to get hit. Rodgers isn't the only problem. They can't run, the defense was supposed to be great and has been below average, and their receivers don't get much separation but this version of Aaron Rodgers simply elevate an offense anymore.

It's been interesting recently to have leisure to watch games of other teams. As I look at other teams in the running for the post season, I am left with two somewhat conflicting impression. First, we are definitely "in the same league" with those teams, which, given where we began this rebuild, is a real accomplishment.. They have flaws; we have flaws. It also seems to me that we are not, top to bottom, as "complete" a team as many of them. We have a better QB than most, arguably a better HC than many, but, aside from the qb, we really don't have that many players teams are likely to be "afraid of," players who will force teams to distort their usual schemes and practices in risky ways, suggesting that in the post-season, where vetting of one's opponents can be very detailed and exhaustive, will likely be a problem. Add to that that our good fortune re injuries has faded a little and that we have poor depth across the board, and there is reason for concern. We also have have an absolutely crap running game, which does not augur well for late-season/post-season success.

I think the last few weeks of the season may be disappointing to some, and I would expect an early exit in the post-season. That said, I think the season has already been an unqualified success, whatever may happen the rest of the season.

I have predicted they will lose in a close game to the Giants, and I suspect that will be the fist of three or so regular-season losses going forward. If they put up a good fight in those losses, they won't bother me at all. It's not as if there was ever any actual prospect of our winning the Super Bowl this year: right?

I get why the Commanders went for 2. If I was a Commanders fan I would have been upset if they didn't. But as a Pats fan, I would have rather see them tie the game and hope the Broncos do not score again. I didn't trust Mariotta to get in the endzone two times in a row. And I was right.

I would have rather settled for the tie rather than risking losing on such a low percentage play to win. But I am not a fan of the three win team that was on the field that night looking for something to salvage their season.

And I also wished that the Broncos were facing any other team left on their schedule next Sunday other than the Raiders. The Broncos were pretty beat up last night, the could come out flat next week especially since it is back to back road games. Unfortunately, the Raiders are the only team left on their schedule who are incapable of capitalizing on that.
Donkies taking Raiders motto (just win baby)

Because the Chiefs have gone to seven straight AFC championship games and won three Super Bowls in that time. Because they have been clearly the team to beat and are the current NFL dynasty. Because the Chiefs and Mahomes have shown repeatedly, many times with the help of the refs, that they will find a way to win.

So yeah, one of my top priorities is getting them the hell out, it’s insane not to think that way.

Bingo.

Fact is, this is my Very Top priority, ahead of Any others... And I Do Mean ANY Others.

It's been terrible here for Patriots teams. Best HFA in all of organized sports. Tom Brady got his ass kicked by ****ing Jake Plummer.

Yep. I know they weren't that good in 05 but even the most clutch kicker ever AV had an off night... bizarre. We have had our moments there in the regular season just not in the playoffs.

Pats should've been ahead 20-0 before Plummer & the rest of Shanny Sr's Donkeys knew what hit them. That loss was almost Entirely Self-Inflicted, which also allowed the corruptible zebras to infect the rest of the game with their presence...

Never ever Ever Evah EVAH root for the ****ing evil ****ing Queefs to beat Anyone... ANYONE.
I hope they beat Denver the next time they play.

The Chiefs may even be eliminated by that time.

That PI call on Samuel was absolute BS

Hmm ...

And didn't that happen right after something like a Kevin Faulk fumble on a KO return? I think they also ****ed-up an easy matriculation on 3rd or 4th down which also led to donkey points... And of course there was the Pick-6 That Should Never Have Been... Brady + Plummer should've = PO Victory; that it didn't is mainly the fault of their own selves (which opened the door for the zebras to enter) and Not because of anything the other guys did.

I am still scarred from that night. ****ing Jake Plummer.
