This one didn't age well.
KC isn't mathematically eliminated yet.

After years of favorable officiating that well has run dry too. Mahomes gets knocked down just like every other QB these days. He was whining to the Refs and got Fat Andy complaining too. Pickens should have been called for taking his helmet off negating the Boys 1st down to seal the game. Some of the PI calls on KC were head scratchers too.

KC was getting away with plenty of holding on the OL.

He took his helmet off because he got knocked in the head on the tackle and it got all messed up. He was just fixing it. It wasn’t like a celebratory “F you” helmet removal.

I agree that not all the PI calls were perfect but it felt like KC generally got called like any other team would be, which is the first time I’ve seen that in a very long time, and a big reason they are struggling.

No we shouldn't have. Were you going to sit him for a minimum of 2 years and run 2 totally different offenses, because, as good as he is now, in 2018-2019 he wasn't running Tom Brady's offense.

When the Ravens drafted Jackson they committed to changing their entire offense to suit Jackson's skills, the Pats weren't ready to do that nor should we have. Jackson was one of those lucky QBs who landed, like Brady, Montana, Manning, landed in the best team possible for his career.

What I would have liked is a team that didn't get itself into the situation where we were looking at a season with Jared Stidham as our starter till Cam Newton accepted a low ball offer to try to resurrect his career, which he didn't. If that took red-shirting Lamar Jackson for two years, I'd be fine with that. It probably would have pissed Brady off, but we've seen that a pissed off Brady is a good thing. The Packers red-shirt QBs for 2-3 years all the time and their starters cope with it.

It's all a giant counter-factual so we can all find ways to make things work out differently. My main point is less about Jackson and more about how the team just had no plan for Brady's departure knowing it was coming a long time in advance. If you can come up with a plausible scenario where we end up with someone better than Stidham and Newton in 2020, go for it.

I've avoided watching KC for some years now since the NYJFL officiating went totally into the tank on their behalf but I did watch some of this game. My main impression is Mahomes does a lot of just flinging the ball downfield and hoping his receivers can go fetch it. His receiving corps isn't as good at that as they used to be ... which is nice.

It'll take me a few days to recover from rooting for JJ's 'Boys.

They should’ve beaten the Broncos in 1997, 49ers in 1998, Eagles in 2003 and the Giants in 2007.
The Giants one cost us the 19-0 season. If Favre didn't throw a game-losing pick vs the Giants we end up playing the Packers and most likely beat them.

Jerry Jones: This team is really special. They're unified. I've never been in a more Christian locker room.

As a northerner, I don't understand this kind of comment. Is the word used down south to mean "unified"? I only know it as a description of religion.

But if there's anyone in that locker room who is not Christian (and I'm 100% sure there is) then it's an odd comment.

Personally, if I were on the team and someone said, "This is the most Muslim locker room I've ever been in," I'd think they were either talking about the huge number of Muslims on the team, or I'd stop to consider that maybe the speaker meant "the most devout (or faithful)" locker room I've ever been in.

Either way, I would've considered it an odd comment. This may just be semantics though.

None too soon. The refs seemed evenhanded in any incompetence. At least the Refs in this one got the EZ pass calls right. In the earlier games (GB) I'm not sure they got the 2 feet down correct called.....

Disagree on Pickens. He took a hit under the chinpad as he was tackled; and it appeared to bump/misadjust the entire helmet.

I assume that he had to adjust his helmet as a result. He put it right back on after he took it off, appeared (to me) that he straightened the straps. Correctly wearing -adjusting a piece of safety equipment should not be a penalty if you are a consecutive play player and can safely do in much less than time it takes between plays. Do guys leave the field to retie their shoes?
It could still be he took it off to celebrate and a teammate yelled at him... so he faked the rest; but as i said, ... it looked to me he was adjusting it & he definitely did take a shot to the bottom of the helmet.

There's a big difference between expecting cakewalks (The fact the Patriots roster is objectively incomplete and now dealing with injuries means they can absolutely lose to anyone if they stars align) - and being outwardly fearful of .500 football teams, that play like .500 football teams, are bad on the road, and get blown out at home.

That's what's crazy to me. Mahomes played his best game of the season on Thanksgiving, and they still lost, to another .500 team.

KC is just getting everyone back, and it was a Thursday game against a hottish team.

Not saying I'm scared of KC, but would prefer to face anyone else, except at Denver or VS Buffalo if we beat them next game.

Mahomes is this eras Brady. KC is this eras Patriots.

Why wouldn't you want to avoid them over Jax/Pitt/Chargers/Indy?

It has been a good two weeks. First the Chiefs knock the Colts off contention by beating them. Then they take the L on Thanksgiving day to the Cowboys to pretty much kill their playoff hopes.

Patriots just need to stay healthy and we have a legit shot at that #1 seed and the bye!

A late Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Disagree. Both Baltimore and KC have a ton of playoff experience, which imo makes them dangerous.
The Ravens have a lot of experience losing playoff games.

It's a wonder their coach is still employed by them.

4 wins in 13 years is not that great.

At one point he had only one playoff win in 8 years. It's a wonder he even survived that.

Disagree. Both Baltimore and KC have a ton of playoff experience, which imo makes them dangerous. They may not be playing that well right now but I would rather face newbies in the playoffs. I have a similar concern with Buffalo, if they beat them at home and then face them in the playoffs then they have to beat them 3x in the same season, and that's difficult to do against any team. Regardless I will be rooting for the Patriots to win every game and let the chips fall where they may when the playoffs roll around.

I went into this season hoping the Patriots would be competing for a wild card spot in December, now it looks like they will have a playoff spot in November. Great season.
Baltimore’s playoff experience is going 3-6.

What’s his playoff record all time? I don’t think it’s good.
I think he has one win and the rest are losses. He has a shot at Manning's record of 9 one-and-done playoffs.

I didn't get to see much yesterday, but I'd say all games were "upsets", and sorta changed the playoff discussion.

I didn't expect DET to lose - but it seems they're starting to fall apart, and out of the NFC powerhouse club
I didn't think DAL could give me that T-day blessing of sending the Chiefs into near-irrelevance for the home stretch
I didn't expect CIN to burst to life so much, especially on D, and dominate the Ravens - putting them in peril too.

7-4. 6-6 and 6-6.

These are the teams you people are scared of.

But the Patriots at 10-2, can't handle them, apparently.

Watch the games on the field, don't get sucked into nostalgia and history.

Fair enough, but the logical corollary is that we stop insisting that the Broncos and Colts are frauds, right? This is looking like a potential changing of the guard season in the AFC.

Chiefs and Ravens lose. Nice side dish today for Thanksgiving.
It sure helps take the edge off my 0 for Thanksgiving with predictions.

I don’t understand anyone calling the Colts and the Broncos frauds when the Steelers and the Jaguars are standing right there, clearly frauds.

Prescott played so bad last season I thought his career was over as a NFL franchise QB. It seems a lot of that was due to him recovering from his injury, mentally or physically or both. He's really played well this season. Having both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens tends to help a QB a lot too. On defense, Clowney had a good game for DAL. Quintin Williams (sp?) was pretty invisible though.

Bottom line for me is I did think DAL could win going in. KC had their moments with Kermit flinging a 44 yarder after evading two rushers but it wasn't enough. It seems they really should have bitten the bullet and given Waddle the big money, as problematic as he is. They haven't been the same since he left.

The fact that we could be looking at no Mahomes, Lamar or Burrow in the playoffs is pretty wild.
We're looking at the actual possibility of the Pats facing the Rams in another SB.
Silence of the Rams III would make a great video to add to the collection.
Someone pinch me.

I think the Chiefs will be back sooner than later but Ravens/Bills have been good for a while but have really done nothing with it. At least KC has championships. What have the other two teams done to warrant respect?
