Since 2023 the bills are 11-12 on the road

Patriots are 9-2, Bills are 7-4.

That’s a 2 game lead, but it’s more than that, because:

- The Patriots own the head to head tiebreaker
- The Patriots are 3-0 in the division; the Bills are 2-2 in the division
- The Patriots are 5-2 in the conference; the Bills are 4-3 in the conference

So even if the Bills manage to beat NE in a couple weeks, the Pats still own all the tiebreakers. The Bills basically need to have a full extra win more than NE to pass them, so the Pats essentially have a 3 game lead, with only 7 games remaining.

Oh, also, the Texans have now passed the Chiefs in conference playoff seeding order too due to a better conference record, even if the Chiefs win this weekend. And the Texans play the Chiefs still.
I’m gathering that if we lost to both Buffalo/Baltimore, but win out the remaining games, we’ll win the division no matter what.

Now you guys see why I don't want Drake Maye to "be the next Josh Allen?"

He just lost to Davis Mills.

Imagine beating the Bills again and clinching the freakin division in Week 15 with three weeks left. Then it’s just jockeying for position in seeding with Denver and Indy. And if the top seed falls too far out of reach then you end up being able to rest guys in the final week, or even final two weeks, depending on the math. Not that I think Vrabel would rest guys for two weeks, but just saying.

Well to be fair, he lost to the best defense in the league and Mills beat one of the worst defenses in the league. Tough to frame it that way given the the lack of balance between the teams.

Yes, because although NE would tie in overall record and lose the head to head tie breaker, they would still only have one in-division loss, whereas the Bills already have 2 such losses. So the Bills need NE to lose that game, and also lose at least one more divisional game (plus one more loss of any kind) OR lose enough total games that their record ends up worse than Buffalo’s which is not likely

And to be fair he had immediate pressure in his face all night and was getting beat up.
You think if everything was the same but Maye was the Bills QB tonight they win?

Houston goes to Indy and then KC next two games. Nobody is going to want to face them in the playoffs.

Well, that didn't take long. I told them at least they have a posh new stadium to look forward to next year and can drop that silly "blue-collar" reputation. Then ...

Let’s say for fun… the Bills magically go 5-1 the rest of the way (unlikely) and their only loss is against the Eagles. The Bills finish 12-5.

The Patriots conversely go 3-3 the rest of the way (unlikely) and lose to the Bills, Ravens and Bengals. The Patriots finish 12-5.

The Patriots still win the division because they would have a better division record (5-1) than the Bills (4-2). So the Bills would need to go 5-1, beat NE head to head, and have the Pats inexplicably go 3-3 and also have one of those losses be against the Jets or Dolphins, or alternatively, go 5-1 while the Pats go 2-4.

If the Bills LOSE to the Steelers next week then they really become hopeless since they’ll be effectively 4 games behind NE with only 5 games remaining at that point.

They are also starting to dangle close to the range where they could fall out of the playoffs entirely if they lose a couple more games. After this weekend’s games, they’ll most likely be the 7 seed. But the 8 seed… will be the Texans, who own the head to head tiebreaker over them now.

I was told in no uncertain terms the Bills were better than the Patriots... the team that beat them head to head.

Are we still sure that's true?
