CB depth idea.

I'd got as far to say Gilmore at 32 might even be an upgrade not just to the depth but maybe even over C. Davis??... give me some context here DD?
I don’t know what Gilmore has left in the tank, but one would think he would upgrade our 4th CB spot.
I would make the call just to check in on him.

Gilly has played alot of great ball in his career.. the hope is he'd want to come back to a place that made him an all pro a and won a ring at.. would love to have him.. if not open to Samuel Jr. Too

Zant's issues were very much with the fans too. Can't blame him for that.

What assante needs to remember is BB took a flier on him being a 7th rounder.. developing him and ultimately earning a starting role.. assante was able to cash out in 2008.. with eagles due to all of this..

He needs to let it go.. get on your grown man **** and let bigons be bigons..

I believe he was a 4th rounder

4th rounder
Correct 4th..

Samuel is 26 and just had spinal fusion surgery. That's not a good thing for anyone, let alone a 26 yr old. There is no telling if he'll be the same player he was before the surgery.

Looks like his agent is doing a good job of hyping him to get a bidding war started. I did a quick google to refresh my memory of his background and found lots of noise about his fit for various teams.

My take, not worth it. That game will inflate his price beyond his value. Too much risk to be a good value. Strong NO.

Asante was a 4th round pick and its bygones. Unless you were trying to be Al Bundy and say Bigguns

And that's why he's so attractive in a sense. He's not going to cost a huge amount, your doing each other a MUTUAL favor. He gets a high end platform to show is wares, and we get a show of, at best, an elite CB/S for the playoffs, if no longer elite, then hopefully a solid CB/S depth, or it turns out at worst, the surgery ends his career and it costs you 5-10MM in a year that is not an issue

Why would he choose to come here and be behind 3 corners and rarely play? Other teams will be offering him
starter $$ and opportunity

I would say that jr was very good, but I'm not sure I consider him "elite". Not with only 2 picks each year while allowing over 4TDs each year when he was healthy.

Again, I believe its going to take him at least 3 games just to get game ready and who know who will be standing at that point.

If he plays S then then he's an immediate starter. If he's the 4th CB, and it looks like he can still play, then think about the schematic possibilities, especially in various man coverages and all these talented TE's in the league.

Once he's ready, I don't think playing time will be an issue. THey'll find a way to get him on the field at least 50% of the time

Ken
He is going to get multiple offers.
Why would he choose to come to a team where he would be cb4 or gave to convert to S?

He will be looking for a long term contract and a starters job and pay.

Sure if we could find a starting caliber cb who wants to come here so badly he will sit on the bench and accept a minimal contract we should jump all over it, but the player has much better options

I just went over to check on PFT and the first article I read was that Asante Samuel Jr. was just cleared to return to football play. The good news is he is currently a FA in need of a job.

Not only would he be a big upgrade and improve our depth, especially for those tough games late in the season and the playoffs.

Sign him and give him a month to go through his own little TC and have him ready for the last 3 or 4 games of the season and the playoff push.

We are a rising contender, I'm sure he has some memories as a child here, and we fans promise not to hold it against for the pick drop in 2007. PLUS there is no need to give up draft capital AND it doesn't have to be done by 4pm tomorrow.

BTW- in a later story, Raheem Morris walked back his claim that the Pats did anything wrong on that early snap. Sounds like the C snapped it early and is using the clapping **** as an excuse for his blunder. I STILL think Morris didn't go far enough, but it's a start
I think that Vrabel prefers to bring in his own bottom of the roster players rather than signing or keeping veterans.
