NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

I give up. In a desperate try at becoming more popular and relevant here, I have decided to start putting up GIF's like all the popular kids. Here is my first. I hope you enjoy it:

Theda Bara. renowned vamp of the Silent Era. And yes, she was quite mad. Be kind: I am new to...Giffage?

Did you get that picture from your Dad?

This has been the consistent reporting from the start. Seems like the Pats are mostly focused on edge and running back depth, but are also doing due diligence on big names that could be long-term solutions (like Dax Hill). And presumably either the price is too high or those guys just aren’t available.
Edge is a need, but that position always has a big competitive market at the trade deadline, so the prices become inflated.

Running back is probably more affordable, but whoever they target needs to be substantially better than Jennings while also not being substantially expensive.

I expect a max of 1 trade . Not expending anything higher than 5th rounder player age to be below 27.

Arden key - most probable
Dremont Jones
Alex wright
Dax hill
Breece hall - mebbe 4th
Chubba hubbard - maybe since dowdle is killing it in panthers.

Nobody outside of this.

While we fans think that RB is a need, the Pats must be liking what they saw from Jennings. He even did a decent job pass blocking when asked. He'll never be Kevin Faulk back there blocking, but he's not a sieve either. The question is whether they can get someone like a Pollard, Dowdle, or Hubbard without giving up more than a 6th round pick.

Edge is a bigger issue. I still think that Alex Wright is where they should be looking since he's a UFA at the end f the season.

Pretty much every trade deadline deal is an overpay, IMO. I don't view the Cowturds deal as a trade deadline deal, just something that would happen every other pre-deadline week in the NFL.

Since Jennings is a UDFA, he's setting the bar on the expense side very low. Gonna be hard to beat his bang for the buck factor.

Dre'mont Jones was traded yesterday to the Ravens.
I honestly don't think Arden Key would be an upgrade for the Pas pass rush.

The biggest mistake you can make is assuming development is linear and next year will just be more of the same, injuries, harder schedule ect means it's far from guaranteed we'll be in this position again next year with a chance of even HFA in a wide open AFC.

Didn't work out for the Texans after CJ Strouds great year or the Commanders after the NFCCG game last year, you should do everything you can to try and improve the team today.

I’ve said it before. The most Jets thing to happen would be they trade Hall to the Pats for a 4th. Hall goes bonkers ROS, resulting in a Super Bowl and then when he hits the open market (I think next year) he signs a mega deal to return to the Jets on a fully guaranteed contract and then tears his ACL on the first play back.

...and their remaining schedule is not easy. They'll struggle to get to 7 wins.
They've been without a couple of their best D players due to injury, but will get them back soon. A 7 for a player on a cheapish contract through 2027 isn't an insane move.

No way Jets trade Hall to the Pats but I would welcome it.

Too many teams fall into the trap of assuming they are guaranteed something by not "mortgaging the future" which makes absolutely no sense. Lot of GM's around the league play it too safe when the franchise hasn't won anything in many years or at all.

What the Rams did going all in for Stafford, Ramsey and others was the right move as they haven't won a Super Bowl since 1999.

On the other hand, you have the 49ers making the massive mistake staying with the younger Jimmy G than signing a guaranteed All Pro QB in Tom Brady who would've also brought his posse of Gronk, AB and attracted some mid tier FA's like Fournette. They've would've won at least 2 Super Bowls by now. But they are currently struggling to keep any window they have left open.

I have no idea why the Bills haven't made major moves while KC's team continues to get weaker. Now they are on the brink of getting surpassed by the Patriots who are going to continue to make moves with the amount of cap space they have.

Even with the Patriots during the best years, imagine if someone told you that after the 2007 AFC Championship game off the back of Brady throwing 50 TDs and 18 wins in a row that would be the last playoff win you'd see for 4 years you'd think they were crazy.

Lose the Super Bowl Brady gets hit in the knee week 1 the next season and a couple of one and dones and you're 4 years down the line and that was one of the all time great teams it happened to.

Alex Wright is a strange one.

Good against the run and looks like he could become a really good pass rusher, but I wonder how much of that is because of QB's running away from Myles Garrett, straight towards him? When you look at his sacks, there's not many of them where he's just being a beast. They're kinda clean up sacks. And he should probably have more of them.

He's a good player, but we need impactful pass rushers and I'm not entirely convinced he is one.

If someone were to tell me after 2004 that the Pats wouldn't win a Super Bowl in 10 years, I'd think they were crazy. Pats needed two moves to get over the hump: drafting an All Pro TE in Gronk and signing Revis in 2014.

Had these two moves not happened, I think the Pats stay stuck at 3 and Brady and BB part ways by a lot earlier than they did.

I'm starting to get the feeling we aren't going to do anything.
Probably because teams like the Bengals are being assholes. It's too funny when teams don't want to pay a player, but also won't trade him, then lose that player for less compensation they were offered or none at all.

Same here unfortunately at the position i wanted. Edge is going to have lots of competition so not sure itd be smart to overpay for anything right now.

Rb is possible though, don’t think its in much demand. But im not expecting breece hall or anything like that. Maybe a safety too
