NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Dallas' D sucks, so they are signing a player who can't get on the field for an even worse D?

I liked Wilson coming out in the draft, FWIW. But doubtful he will be a savior.
I was rather hoping he was someone who might perk up in better surroundings.

I’m confident we make a few moves today.
My gut tells me they'll acquire some depth pieces. Thats it.

They might be players who are "expensive" but for nothing more than a 5th.

If they part with anything more than that for a player i'd be shocked.

The Jacobs family owns Delaware North (HQ in Buffalo) who operates the concessions for High Mark Stadium (Bills) and they have the highest priced food of all the NFL teams. I think a hot dog is like $11.25 tops in the league so you are spot on with your assessments.
At least Jerry is around. Monty Burns has been one of the worst owners in sports for a while now.

To me, this year is all about the rebuild, so, first of all, I want to hold onto draft picks. I would give only very secondary weight to any considerations re "improving our chances this year." Our chances at what, another fleeting and pointless appearance in the post season? That means nothing to me.

I would only make such acquisitions as seem likely to help in a three-year time frame, let's say. I would look for players who might have upside. I would not care that much about "proven" or "established" starters - proving oneself as an "established" player takes time: time in which one grows old, the damage accrues, and one future grows shorter. I'd rather try a younger guy, who might have his best years with us, rather than with his previous employer who knows him well and, tellingly, has decided it is time to move on from the guy.

I hope and expect that they will take on a couple of early-to-mid-career guys who are serviceable now and who might become something more down the line. I'll be perfectly happy with that.

Only the Cowboys would be in “buy” mode sitting at 3-5.
I’m sure they expected to wake up 4-4-1 today.
Even the best laid plans…..

I give up. In a desperate try at becoming more popular and relevant here, I have decided to start putting up GIF's like all the popular kids. Here is my first. I hope you enjoy it:

She looks mad

I have to say, this is one impressive thread! 118 pages and counting about the trade deadline. Wow. What a difference a year and a real Head Coach makes. I don’t know if the Pats will even make a move today, but it has been fun seeing all of the ideas bounced around for sure.
