Yep, tore his Achilles' tendon (forget which one) during the 2nd pre-season game while attempting to play... Right Tackle...
And never should have played LT either

Looks like dugger gave them a return in just 1 game

Congrats to PIT and Dugger.

Dugger isn't good enough to be our backup in case of injuries. After we have Saunders and Pettus.

I certainly hope to see an addition at safety tomorrow.

I apologize b
I think the point others have made is, because we had to eat most of the 2025 contract, once you factor in cap carryover, the actual savings for 2026 / 2027 compared with just cutting him prior to 2026 free agency is minimal (under $1m or so). It means that the Patriots valued moving up from the 7th to the 6th round and saving under $1m more than keeping him on the roster for the rest of 2025. So they must think he really is that bad right now, or had the chance to blow up the locker room, or both.
bump

Is it really better to have Sauders than Dugger as a backup.

There is almost ZERO cap savings compared to simply cutting Dugger after the season.

Yes.

Nice words for Dugger. Happy for him. He ended up with 4 tackles, not sure how 4 tackles gets a game ball, but good for him.

He is the hero of the game, because the starter got hurt and so he saw the field most of the game, and across the entirety of that time he got 4 tackles.

Yeah, I’m not really sure. I think maybe they just have low standards.

I think they gave peppers the game ball after they beat us, he had a fumble recovery. Hes barely played since I believe .

we got til 4:00 pm est today to get it sorted out...
The sensible approach as we all know is.. adding depth, or if a larger move is made. A young player with upside that is on his rookie deal.. Vrabel knows we are playing with house money.. and need to maximize opportunities especially with Drake being on his rookie deal..

It's worth mentioning peppers, Dugger and Bentley all veteran starters last few seasons while here.. are either on steelers PS or are back ups.

72 snaps and broke up some passes. I saw him deny TE Warren very far downfield.

Our problem with Dugger is that we had him on WRs this year.
Last year was a disaster with the coaching staff playing safeties in the box and leaving CBs isolated.
The year before Dugger was excellent.

Yes, in '23 Dugger was great. I hope he fully recovers from his ankle surgery. I wish Dugger, Peppers, and other former players, all the best. The NFL is a tough business for a young kid.
