Browns commentators after the game were impressed with Maye too.

Who isn’t?

I haven’t checked the Chiefs board yet but I would expect something similar there.

Maye is THE player you want if you are drafting a team from existing players and you have the first pick.
Saw that too their Fans are confident they can still win the Division: with their remaining First Place Schedule. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to see that we have much easier Road. We are a Tough Consistent Team: who haven't been blowout yet. I think we can take the Bucs - Bengals and Ravens on the Road.

Seeing him sitting morosely alone after an all-world performance, realizing that nothing he gives that team can matter and that his contract makes him untradeable…oof.

Everybody keeps saying “he went for the money” but IMO it’s a little different when you stick with the team that drafted you. It’s not like he leapt from a championship-caliber team to the highest-bidding loser. Like, say, Milton Williams.
Agreed. Money was a large influence of him staying and if I'm not mistaken is here from the Ohio area. If he was 5 year's younger he'd be a perfect guy to try to trade for this upcoming offseason. Phenomenal player and person. At 29 he's as dominant a player we've seen at his position.

I can't even believe we've won 5 in a row. I don't care how "bad" the teams were, we hadn't won 2 in a row for almost 3 years. This season is already a success no matter where we end up. I don't know if we're ready to make noise in the playoffs, but I think we could win 1 wildcard game (say, vs Chargers or Jags). I'm thrilled to be excited about the Pats again.

Organizationally we are in far better shape than we've been in years. We have reset the winning culture, have a young qb who's elite, we have shown the NFL and potential FA that NE is a destination again. We still have to finish strong thrle rest of the way. There isn't a defense out there that can slow Drake. Cleveland has the best defense in the league even ahead of Denver.

I was really impressed with his gracious comments after the game. But that contract with its dead money...the guy may never see a winning season.

Doesn't explain why the #2 defense let the dolphins offense put up 340 yards and 34 points. Tua was 20/26 with 4 TDs Most points that offense has scored this season.

The Pats put up 32 on the #1 Defense.

Your "doesn't explain" excuse is nonsense. Atlanta couldn't sustain drives. Atlanta had the ball ONCE in the 1st Quarter. Their longest drive of 4:34 came in the 2nd quarter.. They had 3 punts, 1FG in the 1st HALF.. Then, they had a fumble in the 3rd Quarter that Miami converted into a TD. That 4:34 was their LONGEST drive all game. They also turned the ball over on downs on consecutive series. 1st at their own 41 and then at their own 35.

I was able to tell really easy what the issue was just by looking at the game recap.

Absolutely agreed.

It's a process. The Pats are no longer a doormat that teams just laugh at. Continue to work on the weaknesses, and the wins will follow.

Drake Maye being better than expected is a huge bonus to this team. If they continue down this path, I agree on the playoffs but I could definitely see them knocking out a Bills or Chiefs as well.

Long way to go before then though.

Wildcard why settle for less?? I think we are playing for the #1 overall spot: all or nothing.

Sadly you're correct. I'm always for the players to get paid.. these owners make $$$ in their sleep.. NFL as it realistically means NOT FOR LONG. Great players should make great pay.

He reminds me of watching Barry Sanders waste away with the Lions.

do the Falcons count as better competition? They beat the Bills, but got smoked by a Dolphins team that seemed to have given up. Do we have to wait for the Bucs to see where we are?

Atlanta was without Penix and London yesterday. They couldn't sustain drives. They had a fumble in the 3rd quarter and failed to convert on 4th down in back to back series giving Miami starting Field position at the Atlanta 41 and Atlanta 35 respectively.

With Tampa, They are hurting at receiver. Evans is probably done for the year. Godwin came back too see and immediately got hurt again. He MAY be health by the time they the Pats play them. Egbuka has been trying to play through a hamstring injury. Bucky Irving, their Best RB has been out for 4 games with injuries most thought would have him back after just two. There is no telling if he'll be ready.

Neither game is a gimme. But both are very winnable. Especially with the Bucs being very one dimensional on offense right now.

8 AFC teams better than pats

KC, Denver, Chargers, Colts, Steelers, Bills, Ravens with Lamar, possibly Texans
The fact you think a 2-5 team or a 3-4 and team are better than the Pats shows you can't be taken seriously. The Steelers aren't better either. The Pats beat themselves in that Game.

If you have a QB that can get you 30 points a game, including games against good defenses, then you are a Super Bowl contender. Case closed.
Pats weakness on defense is lack of success pressuring the QB on a regular basis. Trey Hendrickson would be the ideal fit for the biggest weakness. Very interested to see how they do against Mayfield.

Where do Pats rank in AFC?
By record we have: Colts, Broncos, Steelers, Bills, Chargers, Jags, Chiefs, Texans.

Texans have a good defense, won't matter, Stroud is nowhere near Mayes level. Jags have Lawrence? Nope.
Broncos are good but the QB spot is a weakness. Despite the much better talent around Nix I could never pick Nix over Maye in a game.
Steelers: Patriots dominated the Steelers all game long, had 5 TO's and was still a DD fall forward from probably going to OT. The Pats were clearly the better team that day.

So: Colts, Chiefs, Bills, Chargers, Patriots. That's the 5 IMO.
Let's see the Pats vs Bucs and then Bills again and then can give a better idea of the ranking in that 5.

I'd love for the Pats to add Alex Wright from the Browns. He's a UFA after the season and he's YOUNG, so they could offer him a long term contract as part of the deal. Send them White and a 5th..

I don't know if Drake Maye is better than we expected or at least hoped. I think what's surprising is how FAST he got there (and that incredible deep ball accuracy)

Semantics, no? He's better than expected because he is playing at a level faster than anticipated..

Posted in General news thread the link but Ed Oliver might be done for the year with torn bicep. Missed Pats game first time with ankle and will likely miss again. Never wish for injuries but helps are chances when we play them

Gotta feel a bit bad for Browns fans. I listened to post game coverage and they are a beaten fan base.

They are ready to mutiny against ownership if Dillon Gabriel starts the next game, kind of like Pats fans were ready to boycott the team if Mayo returned for another year.

At least we had Maye to look forward to.

The Browns fans are clamoring for Shadeur Sanders.
Sander can't be worse than Gabriel. Guy is not an NFL level QB.
