NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

I understand your point or "Maye is not getting in the HOF with that footwork".
Keep complaining about the footwork, Thomas isn't a Hands catcher, his misses are hand catches.
I want guys that can catch with their HANDS!
Boutte doesn't catch that TD without STRONG HANDS.
Diggs has proven it as well with tough Hands catches.

This whole Brian Thomas talk Is pretty much mute. While this group is deciding whether to give up 2nd tier wr and a back up Defensive lineman with a trash 3rd or 4th rd pick. Teams like Buffalo are lining up with their 1st round pick in hand ready to land him.

The rebuild’s on hold. This team could go deep adding an explosive talent like BT if they are willing to part with the parts. Name a WR coming out of college in the next two years besides Smith, Williams and Tyson, who are better right now than Thomas? It doesn’t look like the Patriots are going to be in the top 5 or 10 in the next few years under Vrabel so they aren’t getting them.

I’m not saying you can’t go after a coveted defensive player towards the dead line either. They should and could afford it.

Body catcher.. lol, what? Are you going to show me a few clips of him catching with his body without the showing 90% of his hands catches? Guy takes a slant to the house like Fitzgerald. High praise.

Albert Breer predicted 8 wins this season. He doesn’t know what a talented team looks like.
When did he predict 8 wins, if it was at the beginning of the season he viewed some talent on the team. So I question that statement.

Why

Why would you trade for a guy who's going to retire at the end of the year, rather than give the rookie reps? To make your line, what, 2% better? For what reason?

To umm, like, you know, protect our QB better?

I think your supplier is cutting your stash, Captain.

Wilson's hitting the (ridiculously Inexperienced) Rookie Wall soon and needs to be replaced before he gets his QB killed; so why not have somebody with, you know, like, actual NFL experience waiting in the wings when it happens?

And exactly what THE **** is so wrong about wanting to improve the weakest link on your OL if you have the opportunity to do so at a reasonable price?

Ok now you’re not willing to give up Hollins? He’s valuable with 1-2 catches a game with blocking and ST but it’s night and day….including age and talent. Thomas is almost 10 years younger. If the Jaguars are willing to take Hollins in a package deal…you have to do that. Hell I’d give up Hollins, Pop, White and a 2nd or 3rd. But again…WR is not a priority but when someone is willing to trade you a potential HOF player who is only 23…you do it if they take those players.
Your correct. Saying that regarding Tarzan because he's a needed commodity especially during bad weather games.. he is the most physically imposing wr we have and as said he's grown on me.. by no means at all am I saying he's untouchable. Just saying that I believe pop is a more realistic player they would probably want. White and pop and throw in Dugger and some duffle bags too.

Right now, I am not sure Thomas is the best WR on his team never mind if there will be better players in the draft. Last year, there were only a small handful of WRs better than him. Again, which guy is he? He is probably closer to the guy last year, but you have to figure out why he is so inconsistent this year and dropping balls and whether it can be corrected at least with the team acquiring him.

I am also not sure Buffalo will give up a first rounder for him. It seems like every year they are linked to making massive trades and then end up making lesser trades. They were linked to making big trades for WRs last year and went a more valued route by getting Amari Cooper for a third and pick swaps. It has been a long time since they did make a big splash to get Diggs and that was early in Allen's development. Contenders like Buffalo usually target players to trade who can fit an immediate need and not someone they can have long term.

I think the Pats would consider making a big splash with Thomas if they think he is a system fit and he could be like he was last year in the Patriots system. The only way they would trade for a WR is if he was going to be part of the future and not just someone for this year. Thomas is a guy who could be the #1 WR for the Pats for a decade.

I tend to doubt Thomas will be traded. The Jags are still in contention for a Wild Card. So they are likely not going to give up on this season. The only way they are going to move him is if someone overpays which tends to not happen with in season trades. I could see them potentially moving him after the season and the Patriots could very well be interested at that point.

Listening to pre-game on 98.5 with Alex Barth & Cerrone battle. Barth reported that the Patriots have told Diana Russini they would only be looking at long term impact trades. Present WR isn't a need but long-term is. Hollins is 31 and Diggs is 31.. Boutte and Williams, pop are the younger guys. If perhaps Vrabel did make a significant move it most certainly is for a long term player on offense or defense.

- RB Breece Hall: 5-11, 217 lb, 24 yo

- RB Jerome Ford: 5-10, 210 lb, 26 yo

- ILB Christian Harris: 6-2, 232 lb, 24 yo

Yup.

Giving up draft capital for marginally better short term plugs not a smart idea.

Glad Vrabel and company have their priorities straight.

Absolutely. We have the cap space to make small moves.. if we continue to win and position ourselves for playoff positioning.. we can still do small moves like signing a veteran to a veteran minimum to bolster depth at certain areas. But don't forsee anything of impact happening as far as using valued draft capital. I also believe alot of the cap room we have will be transferred to FA where Marcus will be the first player we should be re-signing, then Chaisson..

Pretty deep on the DL.. would have thought LB or S if anything...
Guy went to Ohio State, same as Vrabel. But you’re correct, he’s a run stuffer, how many more do we need?

If they got him for nothing I’d have no problem with it, he’s a good situational player with potential to be more… like Tonga.

Thanks for that intel. I was just curious because DL is the deepest part of the defense.. Milton, Barmore, farmer, Tonga, Durden.
And a few other that play in the in tje rotation.
