NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Bills have to be in on BTJ. Would be an immediate upgrade from Coleman.

Knew that would get your attention.
I’m very much against acquiring a WR…since we don’t need one. Thomas is not a need…but this isn’t an AJ Brown situation. Thomas is only 23 yo. He’s 6’2” 200 lbs. I don’t believe Diggs would have much of a problem in the same locker room. Thomas is young and has a lot to prove but there is HOF potential there. I’d only accept Thomas if we traded a WR back..such as Mack or Douglas and throw in White and a high draft pick. I just wouldn’t want Thomas to take reps from Diggs, Boutte and Willams…not negotiable.

So would you do Pop and a 2nd for Thomas?

Pop + White and a 3rd? Jax needs pass rush help.

I saw one proposal suggesting Chaisson and a 2nd. I would not do that for a WR, but I would throw in White.

We agree here. I actually would not want to part with Hollins he's grown on me and he's a excellent blocker, locker room leader and just a need for this team. Pop I would feel has more value due to his age and upside and he could thrive in Jax being back in his hometown of Florida.

Douglas or white and a conditional late round pick should suffice. What i like about the current wr group is everyone has thier role. So say for instance diggs, Thomas Jr, Boutte, would be the primary guys while developing K. Williams.

If I am Vrabel and I am seeing the team really playing as one and punching above their weight , I would really be reluctant to break it and bring in someone new and spoil the balance.

Let's say we trade in Douglas - what happens to slot positions . Is it fully diggs and Chism now. Will that suffice. What happens to the breakout that Douglas was happening in last 2 games.

If Brian plays the X , would he take away reps from Boutte ? How does Boutte feel about it. Does it hinder his development?

Would BTJ be willing to do blocks ? What happens if he doesn't get that many catches? Does he crib. Here WR position group is by committee. What happens when BTJ drops few deep balls. Does he get force fed till he gets a grip ?

What happens if he misses his blocking assignment and maye gets injured?

How does this impact the growth of Williams . Does Williams feel neglected and want a trade out in his first year itself ?

White and Dugger are trash, with Duggar over-priced trash. Trash for treasure - even slightly tarnished - generally doesn't work.

Giving up Williams is different. Williams and a 3rd might work. But do we want to do that?

Diggs, Thomas, Boutte/Williams, Henry and Henderson would be our most explosive group of playmakers since 2007.

The Pats need to trade FOR defensive help, not trade it AWAY for a receiver who will take the rest of the season to learn the offense anyway...

If we could start getting some production out of Ponder, Swinson when he does see the field that would significant help.

Seriously? If they need pass rush help then they best not take white..

Ok now you’re not willing to give up Hollins? He’s valuable with 1-2 catches a game with blocking and ST but it’s night and day….including age and talent. Thomas is almost 10 years younger. If the Jaguars are willing to take Hollins in a package deal…you have to do that. Hell I’d give up Hollins, Pop, White and a 2nd or 3rd. But again…WR is not a priority but when someone is willing to trade you a potential HOF player who is only 23…you do it if they take those players.

I wouldn't get caught up in the semantics of what Breer said. The larger point he made is that to push chips in and really sell out for the current year, you should feel good enough about your odds to win it all to make it worth it. He doesn't see that as likely enough a proposition to do that.

Vrabel has no intention of selling out to try and win it all this season. If you watch the various interviews with him he makes it clear that their focus is on building a long term contending program, and that's how you really win Super Bowls. **** happens in the playoffs, and no
Matter how good your team is that's not a guarantee you will win it all, as we sadly found out against the Giants. You want as many bites at the apple as you can get, that's what brings Lombardi's home. Vrabel's plan is to build a team that consistently gets to the final four, and by doing so gets as many shots at the trophy as possible. And that's definitely the way they should proceed. If there's a good deal to be made then make it, if not continue on with what you have.

You ain't getting to the HOF by being a ****y chest catcher.

I wouldn't trade Williams. Develop the young guys, don't move them.
