Drake Maye has arrived . . .

JT O'Sullivan throws some shade on Drake Maye's Titans performance in his new QB School vlog.

Says Drake has some open receivers but chooses to run after the first read in some situations. Seems valid.

TBF Kurt Warner noted the same thing.

It's completely valid.
Assuming Maye keeps progressing and eventually figures that out, year 4 Drake Maye could be historical.

Right now I look at the last 6 quarters of Drake Maye... and I ask myself this question, how much more can he improve? Assuming consistency how close are we to his ceiling?

When i look at his game only a few things stick out as potential areas. One is his manipulation of the defense. He does this already, but it could be better. The biggest one is being able to actually call a game under center. I practically never see him change plays at the line or manage the pre snap movement. I don't expect him to be Brady level here and this was his specialty, but looking at his game right now this is the single biggest thing i think he currently lacks. Not surprising as he is a young QB.
I would add that sometimes he either does not see or does not trust what he sees. After watching replays/game I have noticed him turning down or not seeing open throws and scramble, which he makes positive plays but it just adds to unnecessary hits. Very small nitpick, but I would like to see him stay healthy.

He has checked into alerts and altered protections, but it doesn't seem like its very often, I imagine that will come with more reps/experience.

Edit: I just saw the post about Warner and O'Sullivan pointing it out, so please ignore my ramblings

Josh McDaniels have None he's proven incompetent as a HC. He has that distinction: he'll be Maye's OC for life.

While I hope Josh stays, I wouldn't be surprised if some team offers him their HC position if Maye's trajectory keeps going the way it has. Especially if said team has a young high draft pick QB. For example, would anyone be surprised if the crazy lady running the Titans offers Josh the gig? Would Josh really turn down another chance?

There is enough of a track record of Josh’s failures as a HC that make it doubtful that he will be offered another HC gig anytime soon, but working with Vrabel, I also expect he has heard enough to never work for Ms Amy.

I think Vrabel might advise Josh against working for Amy.

Right now? Yeah, I think he would.

I get what you guys are saying, but if any owner presents Josh with a contract that includes 7 zeros and is guaranteed, even if it's from a crazy lady, that's a lot of money to turn down. Especially given that it really might be his last chance at a HC gig.

I wonder if there has been a coach that has epically failed twice as a hc (both stints canned in less than 2 years) get a third shot as a hc? If there is a list im betting its incredibly short.

Edit: i guess theres pete Carroll who failed in both ny and here before getting back with the Seahawks 11 years later. But even in his case the ne stint wasn’t nearly as bad as either of jmd’s. He had 2 winning seasons and a couple playoff appearances/ a playoff win

Just finished J.T. O'Sullivan's QB school on Maye's performance in the Titan's game. He was critical of Maye's 1 look and run several times during the game. Good Review. Still got some issues he needs to focus on. He was critical of Titan's defense. Our WR's and TE's were open all over the field. They supported him with some great catches.

Yes.

Do me a favour, ditch the Josh going anywhere talk, he has just returned. If you want to debate this, start the conversation in another 2 years at the earliest, pls.

P.S. Who is this Drake Maye guy

Isn't he still making $10 million per year from his Raiders contract? (Minus what the Pats pay him.)

I have had an erection lasting more than 4 hours over this stuff and have not taken any pills, should I seek medical attention?? LMAO

But then there was this view, from 18 months ago:

Meet the New Hype, same as the Old Hype, to paraphrase someone.

He recently made a video stating how wrong he was on Maye. I watch a lot of that guy because he teaches madden players how to read defenses. I realize its just a video game, but it still applies.

The fact that he started off his video about being wrong made me respect him even more.

His accuracy has been incredible, especially when you consider he’s throwing 10+ yard outs and bombs. This shouldn’t be possible.

I’m sure he’s not going to throw for 90% every week but he just seems to get better and better
Every time I see a comment about his accuracy or completion percentage, I need to shout out the WRs/TEs. Maye throws a very catchable ball and there have been some incredible receptions made.

Watching a YT short talk about how Maye is the first QB in NFL history to have 4000 pass yards, 500 rush yards, with a 69% completion percentage in his 1st 20 games.

Off to a good start.
He is off to a great start and I know that you are just passing on info. I hate all the stat comparisons. because they really don't mean much (the stats do but not this guy blah blah that guy). To quote Vrabel its interesting but not important.

The stats and data are getting to be a bit ridiculous. He is the 1st QB in NFL history named Drake Maye to Throw a TD in a game and he has done it more than once.

The cherry picking of stats is always a tad cringe, but its good to see him burst out of the gates like he has.

Last year gave me hope because he played pretty good while running for his life every play.

This years line is better and the results are impressive.

Finish building that wall in front of him and its gonna be good.
