Content Post Drake Maye has arrived . . .

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Another thing that is encouraging going forward is the potential stability getting built quickly around Drake:

Established head coach.

Potential franchise LT

Stability at OC, since we know he will never get a head coaching job again.
Also, having one of "those guys" helps the talent train arrive more often and more filled

Do we know that?

If Maye wins MVP in his 2nd season...
Of course we don't know that.
Now if I was an owner I wouldn't touch him with a 1000 foot pole as a HC candidate.
It's not just that he failed in previous 2 attempts, the behind the scenes reports seem to be pretty damning (if true).
That all said, there's multiple openings every year, and if Maye and the Pats O are top 3rd of the league this year and next, he will garner interest.

I can't explain it. The law of averages tells us we shouldn't be so lucky, especially after brady.

Mayo going for that win might actually end up being the saving grace ....who would have thunk?

We are so blessed ..this kid is something else. We are so incredibly lucky and blesseed.

I'm so ready to get **** faced and cuss every Sunday for this kid...

Lfg.
Pity the Rats, even if you expunge the Brady years they have never had a QB better than Drake Maye.

Sucks to be them, but they wear it well.

I think we do.

With the way his last gig ended? You’re forgetting just how bad it was.

Josh is not a head coach.

You're forgetting how many ****ty coaches get opportinuites.
If the Pats and Maye continue on this trajectory, McD will get opportunities in the future.
I don't think he should, but he will.

Idk, he failed pretty spectacularly in both of his HC jobs. And that’s not even to mention the time he backed out after accepting a job. The stories in Vegas were really, really bad. I have a hard time seeing him getting another head coaching job after that when it was already his second chance or third if you count the Colts thing.

I'd be shocked if McDaniels got another coaching job in the NFL. Which would be good for the offense/Maye.

I agree, but.....
He's still young, and I'm sure he can play the "I've changed, I've learned so much" card.
Time will tell.
I've already stated I think it would be a mistake, but some senile old owner can be talked into it.

He’s 49. Chat GPT says 11/32 head coaches are 50+. So McDnaiels would actually be right around the top 3rd for OLDEST head coaches off those numbers. Coaching ages are different than they used to be.

Nothing is ever certain, but it’s really pretty unfathomable to me that anyone ever hires him as a HC again. He’d actually be on the older side for that role, especially if we’re saying it’s after a few years of good work with Maye. So much baggage in his past jobs. It’s just hard to see.

Funny thing is I agree with your logic, and I think it would be a huge mistake.
But I also know how this league works. If Drake Maye is a top 5 QB the next two years and our offense is putting up stats and points and winning games, he will get an opportunity if he wants it.
As much as I disagree with it, I bet it happens.

Josh McDaniels is done being a head coach. He has no interest.

I wasn't questioning his desire to be a HC (altho I saw his presser too, I'm not convinced).
Simply pointing out that he could have opportunities in the future, despite his past failures.

Josh McDaniels have None he's proven incompetent as a HC. He has that distinction: he'll be Maye's OC for life.

Ok I'm not just saying it to say it. He only took the Patriots job because he wanted to work with Vrabel, and he's not interested in moving his family. My only concern with McDaniels is that he retires in 3 or 4 years.

If Maye continues his current arc, I wouldn't be so concerned with McD leaving in 3-4 years.
By that time, Maye will be as much of the OC as whoever has the official title and assuming we have the same HC, we wouldn't hire someone with complete O power to come in and install a completely different offense.

I doubt Josh would want to retire in 3 or 4 years. I expect he’ll be having too much fun as long as Maye is here and there’s opportunity to be building a team and developing young players. Didn’t you hear the comment during today’s telecast about him saying how much he’s enjoying developing and teaching players this year? I can’t see even Jonathan screwing up and letting Maye get away, so I’m hoping we will have Vrabel, Maye, and McDaniels leading the team for the next decade or so.
