NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

What the hell is going on here? You are listing ridiculous and absurd posters and I am not on the list? You are obviously clueless.

@PatsFan2 is more absurd than me? Not a chance. Sam is a sweetheart, I am an *******. Andy is a great poster, I am a drunk poster. State? Did you say State? OK, State loves Rattler and wanted Ryland gone, but still State is consistent and true.

You want to know who is the biggest ****head poster? Don't make me say it.
That is clever (do I call you "One") made me chuckle.

Unfortunately, that clip is EXACTLY why the Pats (or anyone else) is likely to get Budda Baker. He is the acknowledged heart and soul of that defense and likely the team. To trade him away is basically telling that team to pack it away this year and sends a terrible message to the locker room. I didn't realize how impactful he was to their team.

He is without question my #1 target for this trade season, and I'd be willing to do it for a 2nd and if we got a 4th back, I'd be thrilled. He is what we need for this defense and would REALLY improve the Defense for the playoffs. BUT... I can only hope the Cards collapse over the next 3 games and gives us an opening.

BTW- They are 2-4 but have lost those 4 games by a total of NINE points combined. So, I doubt they see themselves as a bad team

When what you need most is a new QB, sometimes it’s best to find a way to essentially send the team home with out publicly “tanking”. They might not consider themselves as bad, but they have to be aware of their division and their realistic chances.

100%. Let's not forget he made the pro-bowl and had 6 ints as a CB his rookie year.
Devin was really good, not great. He exemplified “do your job.” Not be great at your job. I don’t think he makes the hall. Earl Thomas has a good case. But the NFL has been void of high quality, free safeties for a long time. Ed reeds don’t grow on trees. Looking at the lineup, if you could get a sure thing blue chip player at FS, you take him without hesitation. Probably the rarest position to find sure thing HOF like players. I think Caleb downs is the best prospect since Malik hooker. And even that didn’t go as planned. It takes elite brains and elite athleticism mixed with a little psycho to be elite at the free safety position.

Man I loved Ed Reed, what a phucking player he was.

Absolutely correct. He looked the part his rookie season. Something went wrong the next season where he wasn't playing with the same technique as a rookie in 2010.

Usually when Harmon or someone else was at free safety though and McCourty was technically playing more of a Strong safety or slot role.
The Pats played a matching zone at times and McCourty was part of it. Cover 0 McCourty would drop down. On a corner blitz McCourty could cover Olave. Woodson, Dugger, or Hawkins are going to struggle to cover Olave. We need a FS that can cover WRs if needed.

Hopefully Landry won’t be out for a extended period of time.

My guess is White, Dugger, maybe, Stevenson, and Hooper is being shopped?

Can't afford to lose Hooper without somehow acquiring a TE of at least equal value.

Only way I could see that is if we added a better DE than Jennings.
Why else would we let him go, the trade compensation would not be much and our depth has already been tested.
Unless we think Swinson is ready to come up.

Being a former CB who transitioned into a S I'd think would have a lot to do with his coverage abilities no?
Yes, of course. And FSs with cover skills are sought after because they are more rare, but we need one. That is why McCourty was expensive.

Last week on the corner blitz, a safety has to cover Olave. Dugger, Woodson, and Hawkins are not doing that. We need a guy like McCourty to do that. There are guys in the draft - we have to use a high pick to get one.

I wouldn't be mad if they made a move for a receiver but to me that is pretty far down the list of needs. Ideally we are trying to add a pass rusher, safety, and TE...

Don't forget a Running Back and at least one C/G...
