OT: Josh Simmons steal of draft

It was whenever circumstances left me in charge. They are adults now having survived in spite of my questionable parenting skills, thankfully my long suffering spouse turned out to be a helluva ringmaster. Four of the five now have sons of their own. Much to my bride's amazement I've progressed to a patriarchal role and where to them I was once the out of touch village idiot to their sons I am now the fount of all male wisdom and they are the idiots.

Life is full of enjoyable ironies
I love it. Sounds like a beautiful family.

Thanks, it certainly is now. The generational thing we all have going on is a joyous thing to experience
NGL though, sometimes that mayhem was glorious in a Peckinpah/Tarantino kind of way.

Hope he’s okay. Not enough misfortune can happen to the Qweefs in my eyes.
Does anyone know what is wrong with Simmons.

All I can find is DNP - personal.

There any actual clarity as to what’s up with Simmons? All I read is “away to California for a personal issue and no comment.”

I guess I read Mahomes is praying for him. That sounds ominous
Sounds like a dying family member if thats the case

The latest reports, from Nate Taylor and a few others: The fact he was added to the injury report questionable with an "illness" is related to what he has going on now. Also reported from insiders that it being a "family matter" is not the whole story. Taylor says he thinks he'll play again this year but was not certain.

Really sounds like a Josh Simmons issue and not a family member but nothing definitive yet.

Regardless of what is going on - I’m glad NE has Campbell. Even if things work out w Simmons and that he excels on the field, NE needs dependability, stability. They are an ascending team. KC has ‘made it’. It gives them leeway. They are stacked with vets who have rings.

Campbell’s smarts, effort, and availability are - IMO - key to this year’s success to date.

Sam bashing aside (and he rightfully deserves some), I sincerely hope that Simmons is ok. Mentally, physically, addiction…..one can only speculate, but whatever he’s battling, I wish the best for him.
In regards to Big Country. Wanted him all along and glad we have him.

Campbell is looking very good. But more and more it seems the Pats could have tried to find a trading partner moved down from 4 to twenties picked up extra draft capital and still picked a franchise LT

This is like the deluded Vikings fans, some of whom are still mad that they didn't trade up for Maye.

Yep, it's tempting to imagine draft slots like a game board where you can jump to whatever space you want if you pay enough value points. But in reality, you need a motivated partner.

Vrabel said he tried to trade down from #4 but had NO OFFERS. Which makes sense, because the 2025 draft had a consensus top 3 of Ward, Hunter and Carter, then a big vague cloud of players valued based on need. Who would pay the price to trade up in that situation? In fact, there were no trades up at all from the Pats' pick all the way down to #25.

Simmons may work out to be a great LT for years to come.

But, the risk was too great for NE to gamble on Simmons when Campbell {and other LTs} were available without medical issues.

This might be a good place to note that i have a bet with Sam that if the Patriots make the playoffs this year he and his negativity must quit the board.

Doubtful he will do it.

And he could lose his account info and create a new one like that poster Andy Johnson did. Or was that a bet too.

I will be gone from the board if pats make the playoffs and will not post under any other name.
My word is true.
Why would you do that though? That means the Pats are doing well and it would be more fun to talk about here. So you’d be wrong? Big deal. I’m wrong 100 times a day by the time I have breakfast, just ask my wife.

Because if they do well he has nothing to be be negative about which is his raison d'etre
