...Is Dugger one of the team's top starters because he had more reps than Gonzo? No, of course not. Dugger is NOT a liability compared to the alternatives of Schooler and Pettus.

But Uncle Dugg, Schooler, heavy Pettus AND Hawkins all kinda Suck; and Peppers is Still >>>> all of them.

I hope that, in time - the sooner the better - Richie Grant finds what he had his first 3 years in the league and settles into a role next to Woodson, who needs all the help he can get...

Yesterday, Vrabel said that the current record doesn't matter and they'll add people for long-term success. I don't think the team is signing a rental. I think it has to be someone who will be part of the team for several years.

whatever it takes

The issue is whether AZ has any interest in trading.
They should. They are a hamster on a wheel with kyler.. they are mediocre team that's never gonna be a serious contender with Murray. Love to have baker.

Of course he'd say that.

This is why I've posted what I've posted on a talented guy like AJ.. for example we were fresh off a AFCCG appearance in 2006-07. BB could have easily said we got there throwing to Caldwell, Gaffney at wr.. he did he see the big picture and went after moss and Welker...

I liken similar thinking if Vrabel a realistic opportunity made available to acquire AJ Brown where he's only 28 and in his prime.. you'd have AJ, Diggs, Boutte, as your primary wrs while developing Williams.

That one's a little tougher for me to say they made a mistake in letting go. He didn't look great here in 2021 under McDaniels. Nor did he look good in 2022 under Patricia. Then in 2023 with BoB going back to more of a McDaniels type offense, you had a highly priced player who didn't play well in a similar offense. He was good in ATL and MIA, so definitely seems like there was more to work with there than we managed to get out of him so it's a miss in that sense, but I'd put that in a different category.

Bourne was on this team in camp and they cut him when it's just very clear they shouldn't have. He's flat out better than guys they kept and someone who produces in what his role would be if he were here is a team need. Not saying #3 WR is like a crippling weakness of this team but make no mistake - it is a weakness. And it could be less of one or not one at all if they kept Bourne.

No one's perfect though so if letting a Kendrick Bourne go is the extent of my annual gripes with their roster calls, that's not the end of the world. I'm not blowing it out of proportion, but I'm just calling out misses as they happen.
Why is it so clear? Dont get me wrong I wanted to keep Bourne. But the staff who saw him day in and day out decided not to keep him. And one had to think that McDaniels would have fought to keep him knowing first hand the production they could possibly get. Was something going on with Bourne off the field? Did he say he wanted a trade? Did he just not give the effort they expected leading into the season? We will never know. And just like Jonnu who was productive before and after his visit to New England we cant assume that any production a player is having on one team they will have the same on another. Its funny to me how many people on this forum who said he was a jag when he was here now are saying we should have kept him.

Same here. Peppers release is a mystery to me.. I'm happy we don't have to talk about Draft in October like last few years.. we should be talking about making a minor move for a real Safety. Is Simmons still out there? Or it's mentioned about Buddha baker. ??

Yes he is. He'll be 32 next month however. Still >>>> everybody else not named Woodson.

Don't worry if we got him you'll be..

Twin.. with Boutte and diggs our top dogs.. it's really tough to say.. plus now pop is factored-in...

Which is how some of us figured it was going to be anyway; though I had hoped for more from Kyle Williams...

I wonder how amenable Dawghouse would've been to re-negotiating i.e. reducing his contract in order to stay here; If he had been, then I would've kept him ahead of Weirdo Hollins.

Good idea. Thinking more about it, that function like edit would be allowed only for the post author so it might be something in the conditional tests for displaying those options.
I think there's a time limit on the delete for normal registered users. I'll have to look when I get home, but that's probably why it might not be there.

I can only speak for myself... I never said he was a JAG in a derogatory way. I might have said it literally but in the context of just not being anything special. I maintained he could be a roster worthy #3/#4 WR which is the role I'm talking about keeping him for.

I agree you never know how a guy's production translates here, but this isn't exactly an unknown. He played for McDaniels in 2021, the best season of his career. I think we can predict with reasonable certainty that he knows how to play in this offense, even assuming it's tweaked some for Maye compared to when he played here with Mac under McDaniels. It's very different than Jonnu where you had scheme switch/unfamiliarity.

You make a fair point that maybe Bourne was just fed up with being here for the somewhat tumultuous years he was here. If that was the case, I do take my point back. Vrabel is building a culture and if Bourne was a stinker then he's to good enough to keep. But what very much seems to be the case is that they simply went with younger guys. Diggs/Boutte are better so they stay over him, Kyle Williams is a rookie with draft pedigree to stay, Hollins serves the team in other roles (3rd TE, STs). That's 4 WRs. They kept 6 - Douglas and Chism over Bourne. Douglas probably isn't as good as Bourne, but he's close enough and still young so can obviously justify that roster call. Chism is a physically underwhelming UDFA, not some raw developmental guy. They kept him and he's doing nothing. They should have kept Bourne over him if the goal was to have a good team this year.

We already spent the 36th overall pick on an RB. I am not looking to spend anymore high draft capital on an RB. Nothing more than a 6th. And frankly, an RB won't solve our issues and fix our run game. It is part of the problem, but there are so many other issues to fix.

Safety i am fine spending on as well as edge or WR. But any trade made either should be a cheap 1 year rental which doesn't cost a pick within the top 4 rounds, or it should be a long term upgrade that will make an impact for years.

I wasnt directing that at you but there have been others. I wish Bourne would have at least been kept to the trade dead line to see how he fit into thing (Peppers is another head scratcher) but yeah Mike seemed to have cleaned house. As for Hollins he can catch when needed as we have seen and is a good blocker (dude is jacked, suprised if they havent tested him) but no team is worried about him beating you. I think he is serving the purpose they have for him at this time. As for Chism I dont care so much about any measurable stats. I just watch the preseason games and his kick off returns the kid fights for yards. I agree he hasnt done anything but he hasnt been given a chance on the field yet outside of kick off. I think he can carve a role out here and that may or may not happen this year. I wanted Skattebo and he fell way down in the draft because of measurables and he has played well since given the chance. I wont write off Chism until he gets his shot.

The need to find a way to get Pop and Diggs on the Field together. Pop is doing major damage on 17 snaps. And Tarzan for all his Elite Bocking our Running game is practically non existent. But I ain't one to gossip so you didn't hear it from me.
Bruh. They're winning games how they're playing now.
They're not going to change a goddamned thing.

I would think a 2nd would do it. His play and the extension have increased his value.

Depending on the attitudes toward the 2025-2027 cap, there could be a restructuring before trade (as is always possible).
========
There is only ONE issue for me. Does AZ want to trade him. I suspect that we need to wait a couple of weeks and see whether AZ wants to basically give up on 2025.

As far as other teams being interested, we are in a very, very good cap position and have a very high need. This is our #1 priority at this point and in the off-season (perhaps after keeping Marcus). I would think that Vrabel would pull the trigger if he can get him for less than a first.
I think a 3rd could do it.
And if Arizona continues to cliff-dive this season, they'd be more than happy to do it. They know they have to blow it up, and they're already stuck with Kyler Murray a couple more years. Clearing Baker's money off the books and getting a top-100 pick in return would be best-case scenario for them.

Yep; and don't forget the squib-kick idiocy vs Dead Coach Walking Chip Kelly & the Fecals...
Yeah the mortar kick that ignited the Eagles comeback, sending Chris Harper out to return punts for the first time in his career in Mile High in the snow, choosing to kick in OT vs the Jets, running the corpse of Steven Jackson against Miami to put us in a hole we wouldn't recover from costing us home field advantage.

Then of course the debacle in Denver where Stork was allegedly tipping the snap count and we wasted a herculean effort by Gronk gifting a noodle-armed Peyton Manning a Super Bowl berth.
