AFC East Division Race (10/13 - Patriots Now on Top After Bills Loss)

Now, that would be now. As in on this very day. And you know somewhere in misbegotten (quite possibly the original Seneca name for the region) upstate NY the cold reality that NE is rising and their team is stumbling has tens of thousands screaming "NO!!! NOT THE PATS! NOT AGAIN" into their pillows. It may not take all that long before the Bills mafia is once again back to being half a dozen slobs wearing sausage grease stained Bills jerseys in a '90 Winnebago.
The biggest diss in this post is that you called Buffalo Upstate NY.

I will never understand the love Buffalo gets. Good team and Josh Allen is great but when have they ever won a championship?

Do they get love like a team that’s won a championship? I don’t think so. I feel like they get what they deserve. They’ve been REALLY good the last few seasons and have looked poised to take the next step of getting to and maybe winning the Super Bowl. But they haven’t done so and when they do I feel they get adequately criticized for it. This year looks like some roster attrition and aging has caught up to them though and the whispers of what’s wrong with them are - justifiably - getting louder now.

As true today as when I first wrote it...

Based on remaining schedule, the Bills have a tougher hill to climb than we do.

Heck - we might even be able to challenge Pittsburgh for the bye week.

In my worst case scenario, where they lose the games they probably should lose and fail to win one or two they should win, they still have an additional 6 wins - hence they have a 87% chance of making the playoffs, with only the Steelers in a better place.
The second seed no longer gets a bye so they'd have to get the 1 seed

For some reason I thought we played the Colts this year but we don't. They've got that top seed for now but I don't worry too much about going to Indy in the playoffs. If we can win a road game in Buffalo we can win in any place.

They are loyal football fans. Just as loyal as Steeler fans without the trophies.

Bills fans are big drinkers too. Its fun to watch what they will do next.

The 18-1 Patriots were probably the greatest team in football history, no Lombardi, but that doesn't mean they weren't an incredible team. I think the Bills would have won a Lombardi if their defense hadn't allowed KC in 13 seconds. Sometimes **** just doesn't go your way.

I wonder what they are saying now? I’m sure they are blaming someone.
Their OL

Long in the tooth and getting old.

Allen is still in the meat of his career so as long as they bring new talent in, they can turn things around. They've had 6 straight seasons of relative success so... teams get old... they reboot.

And that's all around the League. IF you are not hitting on Draft picks like we're quite familiar with: BB later years and Mayo's one year. Your Team will $h!t Bricks.
Not for nothing, but a lot of our current key players were brought in during the last 4 years of Belichick. And some of the ones who were cut are now successful starters around the league.

You want 3 starters per draft and another in FA every year, and the last several years of Belichick were better than that.

The problem Belichick drafts were the last 5 years of the Super Bowl era.

Yet a lot of the young talent is on their second contracts now and getting paid, some expensive vet FAs too, so they are right up against the cap.

Also the playoff runs mean bad draft position, the last few seasons haven't been great in terms of drafting.

Hard to see a path to them bringing in much new talent any time soon.

They are in that ugly "let's keep the band together and see what happens" stage of NFL team development.

I think ownership just wanted a decent product on the field while they got the taxpayers to pony up for the new stadium. Mission accomplished.

On top of that the owners literally did just cash in by selling a slice of the team to investors, just like the Krafts have recently done as well.

Basically I see the Bills being a comfortable middle-age team that is gonna have to blow it all up in a year or two as the remaining talent ages out.

As you say Josh Allen will stick around since he's getting paid, but for now he'll be like Joe Burrow, a MVP-caliber QB who doesn't win a SB.

If we saw how many commercials Allen is now in on SNF he'll be okay, he's able to be marketable despite being in a small-market city.

Allen's already taking hometown discounts, but the Bills FO has done such a terrible job in free agency and the draft, and paying the wrong guys, it's going to take a re-set to fix it. They've now blown multiple first round picks on cornerbacks who can't play.

That Von Miller contract destroyed them (like everyone thought it would) and looks like Bosa's doing the same thing.

They sided with Allen over Diggs, and shipped Diggs out of town (They could have told Allen to stfu and just run the offense, and kept them both) That was the end for them - and why other people keep clinging onto that team as a true contender is beyond me.

We'll play em in the Playoffs.

I do worry about Indy, they have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL... somhow. Even with that quarterback. Dan Jones won them that football game against the Cardinals despite their big issues on defense... which might be sorted by playoff time if they get everyone back. He's been playing with a chip on his shoulder ever since he got the starting gig with Indy, and it suits him really well.

the Indy offense is a four headed monster between rookie Tyler Warren, premium running back Jonathan Taylor, the offensive line headed by stalwart Quentin Nelson, and whatever Faustian bargain Jones made to transform himself into the second coming of Drew Brees. there's a lot of talent in that offense and no one yet has really managed to do more than slow it down

Bottom line, that offense has been able to outshoot their defensive problems all year, and I don't see anything in the way they do their business that makes it look unsustainable, not unless Jones' own history comes back to bite him at some point, or Jonathan Taylor gets hurt.

Anyone that thought Richardson was going to win that nonsense in PS hasn't been paying attention to his work.

He's Jamarcuss Russell.

I never thought Dan was a great QB, but NYG teams have sucked recently, not ENTIRELY his fault.

Can you show me when Brock Osweiler won an MVP? Or when he went 13-4 with 40 TDs and 6 ints.
Or when he led an offense that was #2 in scoring and #1 in fewest turnovers.

I’m all for Bill hating but that is just an unbelievably stupid comment.
