Diggs

TBF, Mayo was an All-Pro, a 2x Pro Bowler, and a near-unanimous DROY, so I don't think BB regrets that choice. Plus remember that the 'Backerhood he was relying on in 2007 consisted entirely of players over the age of 30.
The LB's needed upgrading since 2005 and was badly exposed in the 2006 AFCCG when Manning threw to every TE on the roster. Rodney Harrison's absence made it even worse. This was why many mocked Beason to NE. Mayo was a meh player despite the accolades you mentioned despite having a DL of Seymour, Wilfork and Warren his first year and Wilfork his entire career.

Was this Eliot Wolf’s doing?
Let's see.

2024 Wolf by himself - complete rubbish team structure

2025 Wolf & Cowden & Vrabel - strong and balanced team structure

What was the difference between 2024 and 2025?

Let's see.

I am not going to call anyone out, but there were several posters on here that wanted to trade Diggs in a package to get Scary Terry. My stance was that maybe on the field they are equal but Diggs brings things that I do not think McLaurin has yet like leadership, route savviness, I think Diggs is a more fierce competitor.

I get what everyone was about Terry because he is really good, but as a biased Diggs Stan he is a stud. Loved the dude since he was at Maryland
I was one of those posters. I didn’t feel strongly either way, but at the time I thought McLaurin was a bit better on the field, 2 years younger, and not coming off an ACL. He’s still two years younger and not coming off an ACL, but he’s been dinged up and out of action while Diggs has elevated his play tremendously. He’s proved me wrong.

Knowing what we know now, with twenty twenty hindsight it’s easy to second guess history. But knowing then what we knew then I’d still see it the same way, and I really don’t give a rat’s ass if you want to call me out about it. Enjoy counting your coup.

And know that I’m just as happy as you are that Diggs is playing as well as he is for us. I’d love to see him continue and get even better. He’s less than a year after his ACL injury, and it’s usually the second year that players return to peak performance, so we may have even more to look forward to. Let’s all hope so!

Gotta be honest I think we already have the guy and he will be getting more opportunities as the season goes. Williams was open a lot vs Buffalo.
That's just it! He wins off the line each time but balls don't seem to go in his direction. Not sure why?

Every young QB needs a veteran wr. Young Brady had Troy Brown in the slot, Daniels had Mclaurin. Now Drake has steph. Diggs plays with a passion and urgency that seems to lighten up a fire through the entire team.

Model WR Diggs keeping it real and stepping up in a leadership role.

He suggests that New Orleans may actually be a bigger test than Buffalo. Points out that the Saints have been in a couple of 1 score loss games and played well. Do not be fooled by the Saints record.

Absolutely agree. This is where having someone like Vrabel and a leader like Diggs is pivotal. Records have little meaning when you have to go and compete each week. The team that makes the least mistakes typically has the best chance to win.

I believe his time is coming. As far as why he isn't getting the ball is a Drake and McD question. Given the success of the passing game I am not worried about someone not getting catches. Booty and Henry along with Diggs has become quite a dangerous trio.

I do want to see Williams play and succeed but I also don't want them to fix something that isn't broke. Look at it this way his rookie wall is just being pushed back by not getting a ton of run right now. So in a couple of weeks when he is playing more that will be the beginning of his rookie season and the wall won't come till after the playoffs. lol

Thst chunk yards is what Williams could provide on the outside.. I fully expect teams to give attention to Diggs to try to limit him. So Williams will get 1on1 coverage. As mentioned the kid wins right off the line and that is huge for a young wr. Vrabel even acknowledged how much he wins his route before he even gets into it.

The running game needs to come to life. That is another aspect that will help take more deep shots to Williams.

Honestly I didn't remember anyone so I was going to call anyone. It was not a terrible take because Terry is very good and younger/faster, but I have been a Diggs Stan since day 1. So my opinion was completely biased

Elliot wolf at the 2025 draft...

That does not change the fact that, like the 2017 draft, Belichick looked at that class and basically said "Blech."
I agree

Belichick didn't like the draft and moved 2 top picks forward to 2008, drafted a backup safety and traded for Moss and Welker. Sure, we can go back and find picks that worked out. That is always. We can also go back and find all the failures in the first and second rounds.
===========
Give it 10 years. Folks will look at the great 2025 Draft and call it a failure because of those that we could have drafted.

Intermediate passes to Williams would be great. He just might get more YAC's than Noyacs Boutte.

M,

I have been on my soapbox for Williams for weeks.. Bedard even mentioned how he consistently wins off the LOS wich most rookies don't

Hmmmmmm: name calling on a player who have made great strides. Noyacs Boutte made a huge catch at the end to set up that game winning FG.

I too am eating some crow, physically he looks great but I also like that he brings a DOG mentality. This team has been boring and lifeless for a while.

A little bit of edge goes a long way on a team that has middle of the road talent.

Loved his energy and confidence, it spilled over to the whole team.
